This was the plumber that is contracted with our homeowner's warranty company. I made a claim for a tankless water heater on 6/29/13 mid-afternoon. Here it is 7/1/13, mid-afternoon and no contact has been made by Big Jon Plumbing Service.
I have since cancelled the claim and utilized the plumber that the previous homeowner's used to install the tankless water heater. Guess Big Jon Plumbing Service doesn't like earning money or positive reviews...

Horrible service. This guy is the rudest man I have ever spoke with. How can you run a business and talk to someone like that? I feel I should warn people not to use big John plumbing service. I filed a HUGE complaint with my home warranty company and they said I wasn't the only one. Wish I could give 0 stars.

Our home warranty company. sent us Big Jon to fix a problem with dirty hot water. At first we were quite happy. Jon showed up, determined that the problem was with our hot water heater, and replaced the sacrificial anode. He flushed the water heater, disinfected it with chlorine bleach, and told us to keep it on high for a few days. He appeared competent, and we had a good impression. However, very soon we discovered that our hot water now had a really strong rotten-egg smell to it. We called Big Jon but he was very bad about returning phone calls. The home warranty company called him too, and eventually he made an appointment with us to come out and flush the water heater again, but he never showed up. Weeks later, we still haven't heard from him, and in addition to the rotten smell, the water is also turning black again.

My upstairs neighbor's toilet leaked thru my bathroom ceiling. Jon was timely, fixed the leak and called another contractor who repaired my ceiling. Jon was professional, made it easy, did a great job and came back to make sure the ceiling repairs were completed and the bathroom was cleaned. I will definitely call him if I ever need more plumbing work.

Big John was referred to my by my home warranty company for a broken water heater after the first company couldn't take my call to even schedule an appointment. He arrived within 2hrs, clearly explained my options, worked out the details with the warranty company, and had the replacement installed the next morning. I really appreciate the prompt and professional service. I compared prices for comparable plumbing services and he was competitive.

Is there a star under 1?
Do not use this plumber if you value your home, money or service.
I will not even give the satisfaction to explain how unprofessional and unreliable he is.
If your Home warranty company gives you his name for work, call them immediately and refuse!

On his website he states he started his own business because he got tired of seeing people overcharged. That is funny considering he charged us $100 for a hot water heater drip pan and would not use the identical one that I had just bought at Home Depot for $22. He also charged us $150 for an expansion tank that was only $68 for the most expensive one at Home Depot. $90 worth if parts that he charged us $250 for. As soon as he left I saw the unit was leaking, I called him back not even 30 minutes after he left. He said he was in S. Austin and would be back around 5. He never showed and I could not get an on his cell until after 8pm. He then said to just turn off the water to the hot water heater and he will be back the next day. We will see, that day is today. Not happy and not impressed.

DO NOT USE THIS PLUMBER!!!!
These guys do not know what he is doing! He attempted to replace a recirculation pump w/ timer at our house. He arrives at the house without a long ladder and has to borrow it. He left the old sump pump sitting in the attic and left a pool of water. He also never turned it on before he left and the timer was not working. We were only able to find out about this matter when we had a different plumber stop by to give us a quote about adding a gas line. He went up to the attic to check on the BTU of the heater only to find out the mess the prior plumber had left. Our system would have burnt out had we not had discovered this in time!
They are unprofessional and terrible plumbers!

We called for service over the weekend, and Jon was out first thing Monday morning. He was professional and speedy - our problem was fixed within an hour!
Best of all, he was straight with us about what the problem was and what it would take to fix it - no up-selling or add-ons at all, which I REALLY appreciate.
I absolutely would recommend him, and will call on him again in the future if needed. Five stars for sure. Thanks, Jon!

My home warranty sent my work order to Big Jon on a Wednesday. Thursday morning I got a call from Jon to schedule the service for that coming Saturday between 8:30 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. This was good because Saturdays are the only day in the week... every week, that we can ever do a service call.
On Saturday I cleared my morning schedule for the service. At 9:00 a.m. there was no sign of Jon. I called him and asked if he was on his way. I felt like he didn't even remember me, I had to remind him of my address. He said he was at an emergency call and would be over in the next 1 to 2 hours.
Well, two hours later I called him and got his voicemail. My husband called... got his voicemail. I called the home warranty company and they... got his voicemail. Ten hours later, I sit here with the issue still not addressed, no service call, no call ever from Jon with no explaination... nothing.
Pretty upsetting considering I wasted my entire day, the one day of the week I am able to spend on errands, etc. to sit at home and stare out the window waiting for this guy to show up.
