Had them replace our water heater. Initial visit was fine. Right after the plumber left, we noticed that the pan underneath the water heater was not centered. We were afraid that if the heater leaked, the pan wouldn't catch the water. Since Big Blue had replaced the heater, I went back to them. The plumber had made a big deal about giving me his card, telling me to contact him for anything, so I wrote him an email explaining my concern about the pan. I included pictures of the pan so he could understand the situation. No response.

After waiting a few days, I called the company and spoke to Donna. She said, ""oh yes, he mentioned that."" Really? So...why didn't anyone call me or email me? Oookay. I re-explained my concern, and she said she understood the issue, and offered to have someone come back out. Great.

When the next plumber arrived, he looked at the pan, and said that since it was affixed to another pvc pipe (leading to a drain), there was nothing he could do.

First: of course there is. Un-affix it and re-affix it. It is a metal pan, not the Hammer of Thor. Normal humans can move things, cut holes in things with ""tools"", and re-glue.

Second: he said that when heaters leak, they don't tend to leak out of the spigot at the bottom, which was positioned almost over the edge of the pan. Wonderful. Someone could have called me to tell me this, instead of forcing me to book an appointment and take time from work. I literally took pictures of the spigot and sent it to them the day after they were at our place, so they could look at it in the comfort of their office (or wherever). This could've been resolved by phone with no hassle to them or us.

Third: I realized that even though the plumber intended to do nothing, he was going to charge us $100 for the privilege. In my view, this follow-up visit was a continuation of the initial installation. If the initial plumber had just said to me before he left, ""By the way, I didn't re-position the pan, because that's not in the scope of work. And besides, don't worry, if the heater leaks it will most likely dribble out and not spout water like a water sprinkler all over your floor,"" that would have been the end of it.

In the end, I spoke to Donna again and explained to her our position. She said she would have to take it up with Kevin, the owner. About three weeks later, our bill arrives. We were given a $25 discount. I'm underwhelmed. For something that could've been resolved easily, I'm paying $75 on top of $1100+ for initial installation. Welcome to the price gouge.

Please beware that if you call Big Blue, the moment they arrive at your door, you're in for at least $100, even if it could've been resolved in the initial visit or by phone after the fact.

I have used Big Blue Plumbing twice now. I have been completely satisfied with everything about the company. It's easy to schedule appointments online. The times I chose online weren't available and the office called me right away to schedule another time. The two plumbers who have fixed my plumbing were both great. Today Kumar was on time, polite, knowledgable - I couldn't ask for more.

I recommend Big Blue wholeheartedly!

Professional, reassuring, honest.

This is my experience in using them earlier today. They were great and relatively inexpensive!

I am a new(er) home owner who has never had to deal with this type of situation. I was nervous and basically had no clue

Kumar arrived on time, performed a complete evaluation of the existing water heater and continuously kept me informed of what needed to be done, how long it would take and even went the extra mile by providing additional information (I.e. This is where the main water shut-off is located, etc.). He is definitely an asset to this company.

I also had interaction with both Kevin and Donna (who answered the phone) and were extremely polite, responsive by actually returning a phone call when promised, and helpful by answering all of the questions I had - And I had a lot!

I would definitely recommend them to others! Thank you!!

Best plumbing service I have found in the Boston area. Very transparent, down to suggesting that work is not required that i had asked about even if it would make them money. Also punctual and give realistic estimates.

Never had a bad experience in the 4-5 jobs i have had them do from servicing central air units, installing a gas dryer, replacing water heaters and fixing a broken faucet for my hot tub.

Could not recommend more highly...

We had our hot water heater fail two days before Christmas and were about to head out of town. I called Big Blue and they promptly came over to confirm the failure and schedule the install for the following day, early in the morning so we could keep our trip plans. The price was right, the service was quick and efficient, and they kept us on track during a busy and stressful time.

I have used Big Blue several times across a few different homes and have nothing but good experiences. Donna is lovely and quick to respond to whatever needs attention. Josh completed our most recent repairs, which included switching from oil to gas heat, and we were very satisfied with all of his work.

I'm writing to express my gratitude and extreme satisfaction with the emergency late night service that Big Blue provided on the night of January 2nd. Around 9:30pm, I found water streaming thru my mud room from a burst baseboard pipe in one of my second floor guest bedroom. We had been using an electric space heater upstairs in our main bedroom in an attempt to save some heating cost. Once I found the source of the leak, I called the emergency line and got a call back from Kumar about 20mins later. He said he would try to get to my place in 20 mins. He arrived right around twenty minutes.

I could tell he was tired from working all day and all night but he was nonetheless, friendly, courteous, and professional. He checked out the boiler in the basement, shut off the water to upstairs, cut out and replaced the burst pipe and cleaned up. And there was no attitude, rudeness, or sarcasm the entire repair. Given the bad situation, he was a pleasure to deal with.

Kumar from Big Blue was extremely professional and we were happy to have him help solve our terrible situation.

I spoke to Josh at Big Blue about installing bathroom safety rails in my shower. I explained that I was having surgery in 4 weeks and wanted to have the safety rails installed prior to my surgery date. Josh was very nice - reassured me that he would get it done for me- he assured me that he'd call me within a week to schedule a date for the work. GREAT!! Welll........THREE weeks and no phone call so I called him. If he had been honest and told me he forgot - fine. But instead he gives me this song and dance about the plumbing supply store being out of stock on safety rails. Can you say BULLSHIT, Josh??? I called another plumber who was at my house the very next day - completed the job in less than an hour.

Note to Josh - if you don't want or have the time to do the work - BE HONEST about it. There are plenty of other plumbers out there who could use the work, no matter how small the job.

Kevin was very helpful with my remodel project. He gave me good advice and pushed his team to help me meet my tight schedule. I felt like pricing was fair. If my mom lived out here, and she needed a plumber, I would tell her to call these guys.

called for an emergency sewer back up on Saturday and didn't hear back from them til Monday morning, they then very politely told me they don't service mission hill, I guess we aren't part of the greater Boston area in their eyes, but truth be told, we are so much better than that.
thanks for nothing big blue. will be glad to give my money to someone else.
