I started my career in plumbing in 1997, and I have gained experience in various areas of plumbing, including new home builds, commercial projects, and industrial work. The majority of my career has been spent in household plumbing. I have been employed by some of the most prominent plumbing firms in New York and CO, and I have witnessed the deterioration in service quality while prices for customers have increased. This trend is what led me to start Big Apple Plumbing LLC. I aim to bring back the service quality aspect of plumbing, paired with affordable rates and to develop lasting bonds with my community, their families, and the area I serve.

just want to put in a few good words for Gabriel. He is great to work with and a true professional. Big Apple is lucky to have him as their employee.

IF YOU ARE UNSURE IF YOU NEED WORK PERFORMED DO NOT HAVE THEM COME OUT. Also - read many of the reviews here and you'll see others have had this same disappointment. Don't put yourself through it. I had a potential issue with my gas oven, and called and asked if they did this type of check or work. The person I talked with said they could help me and there would be a dispatch fee. I made it clear the issue is when I turn my oven on only. If any work was performed they would apply that dispatch fee to the cost of the repair. That makes total sense, HOWEVER, their dispatch fee is literally only for them to drive to your house and ring the doorbell. NOTHING ELSE. NOTHING. Just to have them check the gas line behind my oven would cost and additional $400!! Just to have them pull the appliance out and see if there is a leak, not even to repair the leak. On top of this, if the issue was with the appliance and not the gas line, they dont do that type of work and did not clarify that when I called (or I dont clearly remember that they said this). I think it is pretty clear when I described my issue that you should (a) clarify you dont repair appliances and (b) tell your potential customer that it will cost them $400 just to figure out if there is a problem at all!! We all know why you would not reveal a $400 diagnostic - most non-commercial customers like myself probably would not pay that much. Regarding the dispatch fee itself, when I called, they said the dispatch fee was $59 - that is what I wrote down. When they arrived they said it was $69. Maybe I wrote the wrong thing down but if you look at other reviews you'll see the fee seems to be all over the place. So now I am $69 poorer for someone simply coming to my front door, and I'm fully expecting the owner to be sassy in their response to me, as seen on other reviews. I dont care - I am sharing my honest experience with your company, as have many others here. If you dont like our honest experience, get out of a business that involves customers being satisfied with your company.

I am responding to the comment the owner made to my comment. I can understand his anger if he thought I threatened his business manager. But I did not threaten his business manager. I did say that I felt the price was unreasonable and I wanted to discuss the charge with the owner. The price was much too high for an hour's worth of work. I think $400/hour is too high for plumbing work. I think they should have charge a lot less ($150/hour seems reasonable). We never got to this discussion because he started yelling at me right away.

We've used Big Apple twice now between 2019-2021 and would definitely use them again.

The best thing about the company is their responsiveness and ability to act quickly. When our hot water heater went out in 2019, we got a few quotes and Big Apple was by far a more reasonable cost than others.

2 years later, we had an issue with a rusted piece and while we were disappointed that it was not covered under a warranty, we were grateful that they could get someone out the same day I called and fix the issue right away.

We appreciate the good communication and responsiveness and plan to use them in the future.

Absolutely the worst customer service I have ever experienced. The ""technician"" was in my house less than 5 minutes then presented me with a $3000 estimate to fix 2 potential problems that did not even exists. Had this technician taken the time to fully investigate instead of telling me I needed to pay him $300 to diagnose the issue (after paying $49 to have him come out to look at the issue) he would have seen the only ""leak"" I had was actually a loose valve that needed tightened. Additionally, the other issue he sighted I needed fixed didn't even exist, as confirmed by two other plumbers I paid to come look at the issue. There was and is no issue. This guy was completely disrespectful in the way he was trying to take advantage of me. I do not recommend this company and would stay away from them. When I requested a refund for the ""service fee"" I was told I needed to understand that was a fee I contractually agreed to. So be it. I understand. Just don't use this company. They will take advantage of you.

From the owner of the company: ""You agreed to a 49 dollar dispatch fee. We dispatched to your home. The dispatch fee gets a plumber to ring your bell. I don't know why you feel entitled to anything but that or your money back. Give me back the money I paid the tech for drive time and time spent in your home give me back the money I spent in fuel."" The owner goes on to tell me to ""give him back the money he spent in gas, etc...""

I checked Yelp prior to calling Big Apple (BA) plumbing. I needed installation help with a new laundry room sink, a new kitchen garbage disposal and a new kitchen faucet. I was advised the original BA plumber was diverted to assist a colleague with a flat tire. Cody arrived an hour later.
He subsequently provided an estimate for the work. The quote was expensive. It may be competitive...difficult to know when you call a plumber once a year or so. I was thinking of rejecting the quote but a slight discount was subsequently applied and I accepted.
Cody knows his trade. He went right to work. He replumbed the laundry room sink, and successfully installed the disposal and faucet. He cleaned up his work areas and was friendly and professional throughout. I recommend Cody from Big Apple Plumbing.

Big Apple just finished up two major jobs for us, including re-piping an entire house and service line. Gabriel and his team were fantastic! They were communicative, upfront about pricing and the potential risks involved with our repair, punctual, and professional throughout. In addition, Gabriel stayed late to ensure that the job got done the same day. We will use them again in the future.

This review is specifically for our technician Gabriel. He is an awesome guy & I truly appreciate his professionalism & expertise. I own a condo and had a drainage issue the other day. I called around to a couple of places & Big Apple was able to get me in the quickest. Gabriel showed up earlier than the scheduled time, diagnosed the issue & walked me through all of the possibilities. He wrote up the estimate & explained everything on the spot. He was able to snake my lines right away and so far everything seems to be working properly. On top of that he is just an all around awesome person & a true asset to the company. This guy deserves a raise. Thank you Gabriel!!!

Called to speak with someone about adding 8 instahot type faucets/sinks in my house. All of a sudden I felt like I was buying a used car. The gal on the phone says, ""ok so let me tell you how we work, first of all we charge a $49.99 trip fee before any work is performed."" I immediately was taken back by them trying to sell a service call inside of actual work. She didn't even know if they did the type of service and I was already getting the pitch. She also says, this isn't California anymore after mentioning they didn't have that out there where we moved from. Seems like the plumbing industry might need some better regulation. This review is my opinion only.

Edit: Owner called me to explain why their structure is setup to charge upfront. Although we are not a good fit for this type of plumber, it is possible it may fit another type of client. Updated stars to 2 stars because of the call, and the owner was friendly.

Edit 2 (after owner replied): If you are selling a new system like an ion exchange system or a Halo5 system, or if a client is wanting to get a hot water recirculating system to achieve an instant hot effect on all faucets, you should probably have a product knowledge guru that also specializes in customer service come out. Not necessarily a plumber who in some cases may not have the personality to discuss products with clients as efficiently and effectively. To charge every client with a ""service fee"", isn't smart business in my opinion.

They charged me $400 to do 15 minutes of work, probably less. But I guess it was worth it since they had to run to Home Depot for the $10 part. ? When I asked how much to finish installing the sink, he quoted me around $1000. I said no and it took ME, someone with zero experience, 20 minutes to complete the job.

I had already removed and disconnected the old floating sink. I had just lost all motivation when I hit a snag so he saved me but yeah, next time I will take a breather and try again. Lol.
