I requested a quote to repair a leak in a roof drain. I described the problem over the phone and was told the initial fee would include a water test. I paid the fee up front. When the technician came out, he told me he would charge me $650 just to tell me how much it would be to fIIx the problem. He did not even do a water test. We refused. When I called to talk to a supervisor, no one returned my call.

I have no way of knowing if they are good plumbers. I booked online with a 2hr window on the day before Thanksgiving, I received a conformation email that they would be there Friday the day after Thanksgiving. I then received a phone call telling me I would have to put on stand by since they were booked solid. I then received an email stating I would have a plumber out by 5pm with no wording of stand by. At 3pm I received a call that they couldn't make it and my family would have to be without hot water until the next Monday. Now they are promising an appointment at 3 to 5pm Monday. They had better be the best and the cheapest company out there for me to change this review.

An update: The tech that came out, Don was outstanding. He was fast, understanding and was very knowledgeable. The techs won me over but the office staff need to take some courses on customer service. That goes from the call center people all the way to the operations manager.
Because of Don I raise my rating to 3 1/2 stars.

They gave me the $69 free visit but then charged me $285 for a $180 faucet repair job. I will not ever use them again.

I wish I could put ZERO!! Without a doubt, one of the worst WORST companies that I have ever dealt with and that's saying a lot since I've been a professional Realtor for 23 years. The biggest shysters in the world! Had a water heater problem, venting into the attic that they installed! I called them initially, sent them the inspection result pictures so they would know beforehand what was needed, told me that it was covered and there would be no charge since they did the initial installation. When the technician went to the vacant home and took care of business, called me to let me know there would be a charge of $270.00! He was there ten minutes and just had to put the pipe connection together in the attic since the H20 heater was venting C02 into the attic. He said he used about 4 sheet metal screws to do it. Well as you can imagine I refused to pay it and the "manager" Josh told me that I either had to pay it or they would lien the home. I told him to stuff it! Shysters!! Worst company in the world! Folks, please don't be fooled by this company. NO customer service, ZERO followup on their shoddy work and not a clue on how to treat a customer. By the way, the initial charge to my homeowners to install their gas H20 heater: $1420 for a 50 gallon. Rip off, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY IN ANY CIRCUMSTANCE. I would hire a bum off the streets with a monkey wrench in his back pocket before I would even think of calling these crooks again. BEWARE!!!

Alie-----The BEST. Upbeat and friendly. Wore carpet protectors on his shoes both visits. Showed me the busted pipe behind the wall to the garden tub. Told me what it would cost to fix. I had already had a competitor come out, and he had cut the dry wall to expose the pipe, so that had already been done. Since I got a better quote from Ale, I chose them. Alie came back out after the weekend, fixed the pipe--again-showed me what he had done to repair the pipe. He cut the edges from around the old pipe and put in a new pipe piece, and secured it. I will never use anyone else but Ben Franklin. Plumbers are a crap shoot, because it is deregulated now. Go with licensed plumbers that are not working off a commision.

I've used Benjamin Franklin before and the work they do is fine, but their business practices are why I would recommend avoiding them. Technicians seem to provide as little information as possible and offer the highest possible estimates.

I recently received a postcard offering a "FREE SERVICE CALL"- the postcard goes out of its way to explain that the service call fee is waived...but it's only fine print in parentheses at the very bottom of the card that makes clear that this fee is only waived if you have the technician perform work that day...and "Service fee will be waived if work is done at time of call" definitely doesn't make clear that diagnostic work doesn't count.

I just had a technician out to take a look at the hardware in one of my toilets that is acting up, and he was here less than ten minutes. He didn't even really look at the problem, just listened to me and then said he would completely rebuild the inside of the toilet tank and quoted a price of $285. Because I'm not having them do that work today, I paid a $69 service fee for work that they might as well have just done over the phone.

In short, there are plumbers who will do free estimates, but Benjamin Franklin will not only trick customers into paying service fees, but will then highball estimates for repairs without actually diagnosing or explaining problem. Don't call this company.

Had Ben the Frank come out here about a month ago.Thats Arlington,TX 76012 so your not confused. My main drain was clogged. Charged $690 to hydro jet it, which if you think about it is really dumb to do. Next day after the drain was cleared Chris shows up for an inspection and tells us drains are badly damaged and it will cost $50k to repair, but he didn't tell us the cost in person. He emailed it to us as he was leaving the door. Within the email were four pictures of the same thing. You would think with all that damage he'd be able to send multiple images of DIFFERENT areas. That's very unprofessional, but what do I know, I'm not a plumber right? Three days later my main was backed up again. I called a different company where two men, no they were superheros which entered my home, they snaked my drain like real men and they worked hard. They then went on to show me the live video of my drain lines, nothing was damaged. I called Benjamin Franklin back for a refund like website said but they told me you only get it back if we send someone out to verify the last guy was wrong. Of course they will say we have damage, I have to "trust" them now? These guys are shady. You guys keep it. The way I see it, my review cost you more than the $690 you robbed me of and the outright lie that I needed $50,000 in repairs. They prey on people that have a lack of knowledge in plumbing.

I had a drain clog upstairs and they charged $423 to unclog the drain. I think that is excessive, but paying them $69 for nothing is not a good optbecause I can't miss work and wait for another plumbing company to come out, I paid this fee and will consider it the cost of learning a lesson about that company. I suggest you ask for an approximate price before letting them dispatch to your property.

The office manager called me to get a better understanding of my concerns. He explained that there were additional costs based on the difficulty of the access. After further discussion with management, I am satisfied with the service and resolution. As a result, I increased my rating to 3 stars.

I have no idea what their workmanship is like, They did show up with the 2 hour window for the estimate. After receiving said estimate to insall a tank less hot water heater, I paid the $59 trip charge and we parted ways. I do most of my own repairs I what things costs and what skilled technicians are worth.
Let put it this way. If you to need spend a bunch of money as tax write off, these are your guys.

We've used these guys before, no issues. However, we declined a service agreement with Minute-Man Heating & Air. Minute-Man banned us because we contested a service fee. And because Minute-Man and Benjamin Franklin are owned by the same people, Ben Franklin banned us as well. We've spent thousands of dollars and when we contest something that doesn't add up, we get banned? To hell with these companies. DO NOT CALL THEM, DO NOT USE THEM, DO NOT REFER THEM.
