BH B.When I had a last minute sewer lateral inspection due to the failure of another plumber, Benjamin Franklin went above and beyond to schedule me in. Ron explained the entire process as he went along, and provided the video to me Upper Darby to get the CO, just days before closing. They were professional, and the plumbers expertise was unmatched. I wish I could hire them again in the city, I highly recommend them if you're in Delco or the other suburbs.
Replaced 2 of 3 toilets in our home. Within 1 month we have problems with 3 of 3 toilets in our home. Called yesterday a.m. and was told 'we will put you through to the person who handles that' which was a voice mailbox. No call back yet. Found a master plumber from a competitor who is coming out today to undo the 'fixes' by BFP. You can bet we will never recommend them & will let as many folks in PA & DE know what we think!

Charlie C.- Frost free faucet, ball valve, pressure valve and, at most, a couple hours of actual ""work"": $1039, after my $50 off coupon.
- Quality of faucet inferior to the existing one. New pressure valve didn't have a gauge.
- Faucet leaked, connection inside wall leaked. Plumber didn't actually test anything the first time.
- Plumber returned, tried to say it wasn't dripping but eventually agreed it was and tried to fix it (It still leaks).
- Plumber became very defensive, condescending and stand-offish when asked to justify the bill. ($509 for 20 minutes to install a $45 valve? And he's already at my house, it's not a separate call).
- Plumber kept insisting that I needed to understand that a person can go online and get parts for a lot less than Ben Franklin Plumbing. If that's true, they need a better wholesale supplier.
When asked what the Ben Franklin hourly labor rate was, he said they don't have one but he spent 4 hours on this job. He includes time to drive here and time to go get a part he should've already had. Fair enough.
He said he got to the office at 8:30, drove to my house, and left at 12:30. My job was his FIRST APPOINTMENT.
This is significant because my ""Wait Around for the Plumber"" window was 8-11am. I was waiting for the plumber before he even got to the office (45 minutes away). He got here at 9:15.
Aside from that, he didn't leave at 12:30. The bill was emailed to me at 12:20 - and this was some time after he left.
Plumber tried to explain their ""pricing"" one last time. When he saw I wasn't buying it, he says ""I'm outta here"" and abruptly leaves my house, drives away, and leaves me to clean up his mess (no, it's not a big mess, but it's also not mine). Bottom line, the connection in the wall still leaks. I'd call for a THIRD visit but I simply can't allow this gentleman in my house again.
A supervisor called for ""my side"" of the story and said she would talk to the manager and get back to me. She asked if I had been told prices up front. I said yes, I trusted your company to do the job correctly and be fair. I was wrong.
It's been 2 weeks, I've heard nothing.
Why 2 stars? I had a couple VERY good experiences with this company a couple years ago.
The previous owner of the home I bough had already paid for the fixing of my kitchen sink leak but when we moved in and called to set up an app BFP insisted he did not. Therefore they wanted me to pay for something that was already paid for! Not only that but they wanted to charge me $195 dollars to put a small washer that was causing the leak and that costs $1.71 at Lowes! When I told the plumber that was robbery and extremely for a washer he replied We pay insurance, we pay gas, we pay the clerks on the phone etc etc Why is that our problem? We are supposed to just pay for the work done in our home not paying all your employees at Benjamin Franklin! I really would not recommend this place to anyone. Prices are robbery!
Beware of this company! If you sign up for a 1yr protection plan with them they auto renew it and re-charge your card without telling you up front. Also there was also no attempt of auto renewal notification made by Benjamin Franklin Plumber (no letter, email, etc) prior to charging my credit card which I never authorized for them to use as I paid them via a personal check. I spoke with their billing company, Direct Energy, and was told they will not give me a full refund. They would review my case and provide me with a prorated portion of money back within 4-6 weeks. I am floored as I did not authorize, nor use their service since their company took it upon themselves to auto renew a 1 yr contract. Protection plans with this company are a scam!
Also had to call and have them come back out 3 times to actually fix our leak.

K. C.Just to reserve the appointment online cost $39.99- who charges for using your own internet connection to schedule?! Had a bath tub faucet 'rebuilt' which in my language is just tightened- was charged &404.00 for that, then had a flush valve replaced for a toilet- another $404.00 added! Total bill for two small jobs- $ 847.00!! Tech was very nice, did try to sell the contract, (which is no help considering the high prices to begin with- ) will not use this company in the future. Beware of sheep in wolves clothing!!!
Jim H.Bill did a great job replacing the pump in my well. He arrived on time after giving me a call that he was on his way. He was courteous and informative in explaining what the problem was and what was the best solution. His 31 years of experience really showed. Bill and Ben Franklin restored our water quickly so we could enjoy the holiday weekend.
Prompt arrival for service, very professional and friendly serviceman (Charlie) showed up, completed inspection of water heater, faucets, pipes etc. thoroughly. Recommended replacement of non-working sump pump and replaced it in about 30-45 minutes. Cleaned up after completion of work.
Very pleased with the workmanship. $550 for sump pump with club membership sounds high and that's why I took away one star. Otherwise very great service.
Rose C.Ben Franklin coming to the rescue today! My water stopped running sometime before midnight last night and I went all day without water. I won't bash my previous plumber here who never returned any of my phone calls, but Ben Franklin made me feel like I was important and made sure that someone came out tonight to get the water back in my home. Billy C was knowledgeable and friendly. He was quick and honest about diagnosing the problem and quick to resolve it. Having water back was the best part of the day. So thankful for Billy and Ben Franklin. Will be the only plumbing company I use and recommend going forward. Thank you Billy and Ben Franklin!
