Just got quoted $1,400 dollars for a job that I had quotes for $500!! Then had to paid a service charge for this ridiculous quote. I just wish I had seen the reviews that they were crooks before I called them. Please save your story about how professional your techs are..... Let's discuss how unethical they are!!!
Bonnie N.I had a service call and was completely overcharged. I had no choice but to do the work but I later did research and found out I shouldn't have paid so much. I tried 3 times so far to contact a supervisor and have yet to get a call back. I wanted an itemized bill to see why I was charged so much. In addition they gave me an estimate for something else I needed for over $600. I said I'd wait. I later called another plumber and was quoted under $200 for the same problem. This is absurd and such a scam. They should be ashamed of themselves for taking advantage of desperate people.
I had a burst pipe that was leaking non-stop. A simple problem. A young kid showed up and asked $1500 for the repair. Since I had a plane to catch and had no time to shop for a fair price, I reluctantly agreed.
After an hour, (half of which he spent talking to me), and roughly $20 worth of new piping installed, he announced that he was done.
When I called the management the following day to question their outrageous pricing, they refused to return my call. I called the next day again only to have some make-believe manager tell me that the pricing ""is what it is"" and that they have ""a lot of overhead to cover"".
I asked him if he was aware of what was done. He mentioned 3 things one of which the plumber did not do (open a hole in the wall). The opening was already made for him.
When I mentioned that his repairman worked for hardly an hour with $20 worth of materials spent, he was wordless. Frankly, I was disgusted by their behavior.
There are plenty of dishonest plumbers on Long Island but these folks are in a league by themselves.
They are shameless. They WILL TAKE ADVANTAGE of you. At all costs, STAY AWAY FROM THESE THIEVES!
Be careful. This company is a rip off.
They were charging me $1042+ tax to replace 2 toilet fill valves
I had to pay $74.50 service fee, which I promptly paid and sent the technician packing.
Subsequently, purchased 2 fill valves from Home Depot for $10.84 each and replaced it myself in 30 minutes.
called them to fix leaky kitchen sink and slow drain at my fathers house. i was working when they came they did the repairs in two hours and billed him 1220.00.now the drain, tailpipe w/dishwasher takeoff cost on the high side 50.00 so that means 1170.00 is the labor for two hours work. this company has not gotten back to me to explain this.either they take advantage of the elderly or they just rip people off as a business practice.WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO ANYONE.
Ripoff. Charged me $1,000 for unclog my sewer line after sandy. After 2 months, it happened again, hired another company, did a better job for only $100.
Rena B.Without a doubt, this is the absolute best plumbing service I have ever used. Since moving into my home three years ago, I have had several plumbers here for various matters. Some were good, some were not, some were awful. Jim Butler and the team from Ben Franklin were on a whole different echelon than any of the others. From the moment they came into my house, I noticed the difference. They put booties on their shoes and lay drop cloths everywhere they worked to prevent any kind of soiling of my home. They worked quietly and efficiently - so much so that I was able to work from home and speak to clients on the phone without being disturbed. When they were done, they put everything back the way it was and cleaned up after themselves. Their quote came in three thousand below another plumber's. They not only fixed my problem, but I think the solution they came up with was far and away an improvement over what I had previously. I also appreciate that they did not nickle and dime me through the project. They gave me a fair quote and stuck to it. The work was completed exactly when they said it would be as well. Even my dogs liked them! The team was so unobtrusive and so courteous that my dogs soon forget that they were in the house and settled down and went to sleep, making it possible for me to do my work without barking!
They charged three times the going price for work that was not necessary. Very dishonest. Be careful.
Harriet R.I have their Plumbing Protection Program. I have used it in the past for minor issues such as a backed up toilet or a clogged sink. This evening I have a major issue, a leak in my basement with water flowing in. I called Benj. Franklin Plumbing. They claim ""We'll be there when you need us, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, because we understand emergencies don't come at convenient times"".
The answering service was unable to contact a manager. The answering service told me that she can have someone there the next day from 10 am to 1 pm. which is her next available slot. This, I told her, is unacceptable. I told her that they claim they are available 24/7 and I pay monthly for their service. I told her to let them know that I would be giving them a negative review on their website and on Facebook. Suddenly, she was able to contact her manager. The ""best"" they can do, she said, was to have someone out between 7am and 10am. I had to shut off my water and now I have no water coming into my house and no 24/7 Benj. Franklin Plumber. You can guarantee that I will no be renewing this plan or using them in the future!!!
Had this company come by to give us a quote on a boiler and the man that came to inspect for the job was extremely rude and condescending to my husband. I won't be using their services and definitely would not recommend them to anyone.
