Santa brought me a leaking hot water heater on Christmas Eve morning. While trying to find somebody, anybody, working on Christmas Eve, I heard a van in front of my house. It was a Ben Franklin guy, Alex, dropping something off at my neighbors house. I ran outside and caught him before he left. He came over and within about an hour and a half had my house good as new. Alex was extremely neat, knowledgeable and professional. He treated my house like it was his own, which is what you want to see in a contractor. He protected my floors and didn't spill a drop of water anywhere. For anyone who has replaced a hot water heater, you know that's an impressive feat. Call it a Christmas miracle or just fortuitous timing, whatever. He made Christmas a lot less stressful for me and my family. Thank you Alex!

My drain clean-out proved to be simple. I was charged $435.00. Yesterday getting taxes together discovered I paid Able-Tex $159.24 for the same job in the past. Is it because I am a senior that they felt it OK to overcharge so much? Whatever age you are, beware of Benjamin Franklin Plumbing of Pompton Lakes!

Very good company...if you are close by. I used this company for over 30 years in 3 different houses with good results. But I called them recently with a leaking pipe and was told ""we don't service Sussex County anymore"". I live one mile into Sussex County (17 miles from their office). They have performed work in my current home on several occasions but now I have to search for another plumber. Too bad.

The company responded very quickly regarding my water heater. They came to fix it right away. The replacement was done seamlessly and without incident. They charged me almost three times what the heater retails for, indicating either a huge price gouge, or a $1200+ installation fee for the one hour it took. If I'm missing something or have failed to consider something, I'd be happy to change my rating. I invite Benjamin Franklin to reach out to me with that explanation. I think $2300 is obscene for a water heater installation. I felt, based on my impression from the repairman, that it was smarter to replace it than fix it, as it was 7 years old. I'd like a do-over on that decision after learning what the unit actually retails for ($800+-).

Their charges are outrageous. They replaced a small water tank for $3000. I priced the tank at $600 from the manufacturer. That means that labor cost $2400. Two plumbers were at my house briefly. One stayed for five hours. Labor costs over $400 conservatively. In fairness, they worked on a Saturday and the work seems satisfactory. I highly recommend shopping around rather than trusting their estimates to be reasonable.

I had called for a service on a 10' Gas line that needed to be replaced
and maybe needed to shut off valves and elbow the quote I received
was for $823.00 for maybe and hour of work plus material of less than
$100. They charged me a service call of $85 plus tax for nothing except writing up a ridiculous estimate. Be Careful way over priced even at plumbers rates.
The cost of a plumber ranges from $175 to $450 for a typical job with the average cost per hour ranging from $45 to $200.
This job should be $300 max all day long

Forgot about another incident. Had the plumber over for one job asked about another job. I had a leak on my outside pipe for my hose. He said it would be est.$700 because they would have to break into the walls. I declined that job and purchased a new spigot for $7. That's all it took.

Terrible customer service. A few weeks ago team members changed a water filter but installed it too tight to even take out. Upon calling to see if someone could come take it out (so that we do not break it) they informed us that we would be charged for someone to correct the work they they did. However, the company and their guys did the work but won't stand by it! Not our fault they installed it too tightly and we are unable to take out for a routine change. We are very flexible on day - did not even have to be immediately since weekends can be more difficult! Owner Doug was very willing to lose a client as well, and simply hung up when we insisted on not being charged. As mentioned his company did the work, we should not be charged twice just to fix it! Be wary.....

I have to say their service is a typical Scam. I called them through the number that google (guarantee) provided. I asked for a quote but they said they could not do so before the inspection. Then they came, had a look, and in 2 minutes gave a quote of $2500+, a price almost doubled from the quotes I had from other plumbing companies. I was shocked and had to decline their service. Now they started to charge me $89 as a service dispatch fee. $89 for a 2-minute ""inspection""? It, ironically, amazed me.

To make it simple, i felt it would be a fantastic business: worked with Google, got in, scared the customer with a crazy pricey quote, and then had $89 back without doing anything.

Btw, I also contacted Google to ask about the so-called 'guaranteed' service. Guess what? Google said ""try to resolve the issues directly with their local service professionals"". Come on, google, why not just tell us directly you, google, can't guarantee anything.

They came fast but in 5 minutes price went up over the moon. Just needed a faucet turned over to a new one and it seemed all the plumbing in the wall had to be removed. Plumber that came was very nice though. I was looking for a new plumber to come whenever it was needed but it will not be this company.
