Joseph J.We use them under a service agreement and they have completely held up their end with the inspections and taking care of maintenance things for no added cost. They had to fight our water heater due to scale build-up but now it works well and they have replaced parts for no added charge. Yes they recommend things but so far I understand why and they have not been pushy about it. We have done a couple of things and have benefitted.
This company will 100% rip you off and I would STRONGLY suggest taking your business elsewhere.
My boyfriend called them a few weeks ago for some major plumbing issues in our new house and we were told that the problem could be fixed for almost $1500. A servicemen came out to work on the problem only to be told 3 hours later that the problem in fact could not be fixed and we were not getting our money back. THEN proceeded to give us a $10000 estimate on top of the $1500 to fix the problem. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? That estimate was almost $6000 higher than any other company in the area. They robbed us of $1500 and tried to get $10,000 more. I plan on sharing this review and spreading the word that this is a company that takes advantange of people and their hard earned money.
One of the biggest mistakes we ever made was calling this company and they will do the same thing to you!
Swayne K.I would like to do an update on Benjamin Franklin plumbing. They sent us a very sincere apology and refunded us for the plumber being late. We will probably use them again in the future. The plumber was very friendly but the fact this company takes responsibility and cares about their customers is a plus to our family. Everyone has an off day ... maybe this was one for the plumber. Thank you for reaching out to our family.
Diane B.I had Benjamin Franklin at my home today for a free estimate. I had requested an appointment for a clogged kitchen sink. They responded to my request quickly and professionally and showed up on time. I have 65 year old home with galvanized pipes, problematic - yes, but not impossible to unclog. The estimate I received was an option of three. The highest being $1375 with a 12 month guarantee and five gallons of some chemical. The lowest being $475 with no guarantees. As this seemed high, it was explained to me that my pipes ""can't be snaked because they are galvanized steel"". They have been snaked before so I knew this not to be the case. I said, ""no thank you"" and called someone else. That company WAS able to snake the pipes with no damage.
Sami P.The service provider knew what he was doing but the charge to replace our old holding tank was 700$ more then what it would have cost to buy a 86gal holding tank and put it in ourselves. They put in a 32gal holding tank because it would have cost us another 500 to upgrade to the same size we had before so we settled for a 32gal tank. We got a 10% discount but we have been paying a monthly service fee for about 2 years and really feel that we paid way too much, next time something needs done we will probably not go with them.
I was very happy with the customer service provided by Steve today. He was professional and courteous. However, I was not happy with the cost of a 5 minute repair (removal of a spoon from my garbage disposal). The technician was at the residence for approx. 10 minutes, half of which was explaining the members plan and the need for new valves under the sink. The actual fix took less than 5 minutes and only required a pull by pliers from above. I was unaware that the cost of removing the spoon would be $154 prior to the work being done. Fortunately, I had a coupon for a free service call otherwise my bill would have been $230, for 5 minutes of work. I believe, the cost is excessive for the total work completed. I am very disappointed and honestly feel a little taken advantage of. Regretfully, I will not be recommending Benjamin Franklin Plumbing to any of my friends, family, or co-workers due to the cost.
Zane P.Rip offs!!! Charged me almost 1400 to clear my sewer line out!!! Every other company charges 3-7 hundred. The guy came another time and fixed a pecs pipe for 500!!! They charged me 147 to change the flusher on toilet thats still leaking!!! Very unfair!! The leak was from roof not toilet. Workers selling work!!! They said my water heater was done (its 2 years old) and to change it, and i came to the property and theres nothing wrong with it AT ALL!!! Trying to take advantage of hard working people in a jam!!!!!!!!!! I hope you and benjamin franklin go out of business you crooks!!!
Called late in the day on Friday and Charlie W came out. Professional service. Explained everything. Would highly recommend Benjamin Franklin!!
Stephenk291 ..I have nothing but high praise for the service tech Ed who came out on-site and was very professional, courteous and informative about the work needed and overall the services offered by the company. I was a bit dismayed though by the other customer service I received prior. I was told the $76 service fee was waived if work was done. I'm a bit iffy about the service fee in general as other contractors I've worked with didn't charge such a fee. Also when the tech arrived he did explain the tiered pricing and my replacement of a gas valve + shutoff apparently fell into the tier 3 pricing which was $348. I went ahead and agreed to the scope of work but now that I'm looking over the invoice and realizing the work itself took probably 25 minutes while going over everything and making sure the gas was turned back on and tested took about another 20. Going over the invoice, paying and then getting a service plan probably took about another 25-30 minutes. In order to get my bill down, I had to use a coupon to waive the service fee (I was told it was waived in general if work was done) another $50 off coupon and then another 15% discount to get my bill from $348 to $252. I did mention an angies list coupon for $79 for 200 but I was told this was a better route getting the fee coupon and the $50 off. I think the price overall for the job was extremely high given that all he did was remove 2 small sections of pipe and then attached a new valve and hooked up. I still have the basic maintenance plan ( in order to get the 15%) off but I might end up just cancelling it due to the high pricing of what was done. I had another plumber in before this who replaced two lines for the washing machine, two shut offs in the bathroom and the toilet for $213 and that was about 2/hr of work.
Again this is not about the tech he did a great job it was just the very high cost of the work and I needed this done as I'm trying to renovate my kitchen and so I just bit the bullet and paid it..plus if I didn't have the work done I still would have been charged the $76 fee.
UPDATE: The owner reached out to me after seeing my review and ended up taking care of this situation by offering to refund me the $76 fee which I happily accepted. It's nice to see companies standing behind their service and reputation so I think in the future I'll be more willing to look at them again for their services I'll just make sure I get clarification on any payment related matters.
thank you!
Very happy, service was prompt and courteous. The technician even showed me how to fix the problem myself if it happened again. They were a bit more expensive than I'm used to, but you get what you pay for. The cost of the service call was disclosed upfront and the actual repair cost was also quoted to me before the work was done.
