Hi Anthony, I know that you personally reviewed the pricing and requested your technician to charge 715 dollars for an hour works ( your price discussion time included ). Let me tell you the full story you requested : First of all we selected your company in between 3 other ( who works on Sunday like us ) because you announced that your technician is on the way. In fact he arrived ...2 hours later ! Benjamin Franklin Plumbing wont """"kill you"""" ? I confirm you will . Then your rates : You should charge more ! Just inform your customers! I can imagine the Grandfather or Grandmother in Panic on Sunday because of a leak. Let then know how long it ( really ) will take until you will be there and how much you will take to them. Then, like us, they will be able to say NO before they get scammed !
Well, I'm not sure what rating I should give because I didn't actually have service performed, but for Yelp readers, here's my take: I called Benjamin Franklin for an estimate to replace a shut off/compression valve for the new dishwasher and they came that same day. The two plumbers arrived on time. And while the estimate they gave me was $35 more than another I received, I need to clarify that the other estimate was given over the phone, sight unseen, so it might have been subject to change upon inspection. Whereas, these guys inspected what was already hooked up, said it looked good but if and when I wanted to upgrade it, to give them a call. I certainly appreciated their honesty as much as I appreciated the advice and the free quote! Another local company charges $45 just to give me an estimate. So, guess who I'm going to call the next time I need a plumber?
Rose H.This company has made a true comeback thanks to the new management that took over in 2017 -what a pleasant difference!! Finally a plumber in Charleston to trust! They have proven themselves to be reliable as well as punctual on multiple occasions at both my home and business. Highly recommended to anyone looking for great plumbing services in the area.
Habib R.I had a problem in the middle fo the night during a holiday week. I called benjamin franklin and after talking to David Carandante we decided this could wait a few hours. He arrived on time on saturday and fixed the issue in no time. I was impressed by the friendliness, the punctuality and the fact he fixed the issue. Plumbing is expensive but i did not mind paying to fix an issue on a weekend, after hours. I actually hired them for the regular annual maintenance of my tankless water heater because I liked their service. You hear a to of bad things about plumbers, that they are expensive and arrogant etc etc. I cannot recommend David and Benjamin Franklin Mount Pleasant more. A lot of the bad reviews are due to the fact that the company is under new ownership. If all the employees are like David and his assistant Pete, I see no reasons why these bad reviews should still exist.
Jessica A.Never had them come out because they want d to charge $475 to install a dishwasher. Didn't even need to take the old one out --- just put in the new one in. To reply to the owner: I didn't even have anyone to come out, how would it be possible that I needed all that? The dishwasher got installed and none of those parts you mentioned were needed. Don't justify the """"false information"""" that I received.
BEWARE - get quote in writing on their form! The plumber had been to our house before and quoted a different location for our washer hookups. When we contacted him the new location, he quoted us """"not more than $500"""". Unfortunately, that quote was not written on their """"form"""", so after only one and a half hours of work we got a bill for $1000! I wish I could post a photo of the results. They simply cut a hole in our floor near the wall (not inside like normal plumbing), left the plastic pipe and hook-up box exposed, then left all the old pipes still in the house at the old location (though they did cap them off below). I certainly would have expected more comprehensive service for $1000, not just a shoddy job in 90 minutes. They even left their sawdust in a pile on my floor. They did a great job on the first thing we hired them for, and at a reasonable price. I never in a million years thought they would treat us like this. So disappointed! I promise y'all an update if they honor their initial quote and refund us the overpayment.
Amy B.They ripped us off. We were overcharged. They claimed that it cost more because it was a Sunday. They should of used a camera when they snaked our main line to see what the problem was. They did not and now the problem is back. Stay away from them and use a more trustworthy company.
Stay away from Ben Franklin Plumbing in Mt Pleasant. My wife set an appt with them on Thursday. She called on her cell phone, spoke over 3 minutes with their dispatch, and had a scheduled appointment between 11am - 1pm the next day. When 1pm came around with no show, we called and the dispatch said they had no record of our appointment. They immediately set another time, was pleasant, but after I got off the phone, I realized she did not apologize at all. No I'm sorry, etc. We picked Ben Franklin not b/c they are the """"punctual plumber"""" but b/c the owner, Mark Vesenda, had sponsored my boy's baseball team and seemed to be a nice guy. We had him seal a toilet years ago without a problem. So I called back and said I wanted to speak to the owner. I thought he'd want to know. Dispatch said she'd have him call me. No call. A supervisor called to say he was on his way out for our second appointment but even after I explained to him what happened, he too offered no apology. When he showed up, I told him I didn't want them to start working until I spoke with the owner. He """"tried to get to the bottom of this"""" but even after finding out my wife had indeed called the previous day to the correct number, he offered no apology. After wasting my time without an apology the supervisor told me Mark would call. No call ever came. I have the highest regard for business owners. Its tough. And I expect mistakes to happen. But don't drive around a van that says you are the punctual plumber and then not apologize when you are late or make a mistake.
A Plumber came to my house after hours on the weekend and repaired a break in a PVC line connected to my well plumbing. I negotiated a lower price which apparently angered the Plumber and the call center. The Plumber did not use any material or even glue - they used the glue we purchased as we intended to self repair. We noted two days later that the pipe he had roped the pipe to hold until the glue set is broken on the other end connected to iron valve from the pump. My husband called and they were scheduled to come today and when I called to verify the time I was told that we are red flagged and they would not help us. We did not receive a call saying they were not coming and they hang up every time I try to call and ask to speak with the owner or manager. They are not incorporated in South Carolina or part of the Better Business Bureau. They are not a quality or professional organization if they hang up on customers whose property they damaged while on the premises. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THEM.
This is not a company interested in building a customer base or generating a referral base. We were excited to find Bob who came to repair our solar water heater. It took less than 15 mins to open a window and walk on the roof to see a part was needed. It was ordered and replaced again in about 15 mins. The labor costs were $500 and the part was $275. Certainly, obtain quotes as work is done by them.
