I will give my experience 1/2 a star only. Complete disaster and you will never have me as a customer again. So, my story.... I discover a significant leak in my wall which is causing my carpets to be soaked and the leak is constant. I call the office to get a technician out. While on the phone with dispatch I tell them it would be best if I could be scheduled after 4 PM, as I work in Tampa and am having the work done in New Port Richey. I'm told that will not be an issue at all and they will make a note so it can happen. The appointment is confirmed with exactly what I asked, """"We will see you after 4PM on.....the technician will call you when he's on his way"""". Great!! The day of the appointment, I begin receiving phone calls while in a meeting at 1:30 PM. I check voicemail after the meeting to discover it is Ben Franklin dispatch telling me the technician is ready to come to the house and has tried to call but I'm not answering. I immediately call dispatch, tell them I wasn't supposed to be seen until after 4 PM, and am told I was on the schedule from 7AM to 7PM. What? I'm told the technician is now on another call in Palm Harbor, but as soon as they finish there they will head to my house. I'm told the technician will contact me when he is on his way, OR if there is an issue with him getting to me, I will be contacted by dispatch and told of the issue. I NEVER RECEIVED ANOTHER CALL FROM ANYONE. It is now a day after my scheduled appointment and NO ONE HAS EVEN REACHED OUT TO ME TO EXPLAIN OR RESCHEDULE. I am done with Benjamin Franklin plumbing. I hope your experience is better than the one I had, but be assured I will never recommend this company and will warn anyone thinking of using them
Filed a claim through my home protection plan (another scam artist company) and they forced me to use Benjamin Franklin Plumbing. They sent out a tech who told me I either need to dig out the hole my self or pay 450$ per 3 ft or trench. So of course I dug out the hole. I called them back and they had another bunch of excuses why they couldnt work on the pipe. After 2 weeks of non sense they told me my claim was denied... WHY you ask? well because they told the protection plan company that the hole was already dug out when the plumber got there and they couldn't tell if I damaged the pipe or not. Stay far away from these guys there many much better plumbing companies out there! UNREAL!!!!
Michelle Rose S.Scheduled an in-home estimate via Home Advisor. Never called, didn't show up. Wasted my time. We will be going with another company.
The plumber arrived promptly. The he quoted fixing 2 minor toilet repairs at 308 dollars. This included the 50 dollar service call fee. I told him NO this was more than I expected to pay. I still had to pay the 50 dollars. I found another Plumber who did a great job for much less.
Mark D.I had 2 toilets in a 3 bathroom home that broke over a weekend. I called the on call weekend dispatch for Ben Franklin Plumbing & set up a Monday 8am - Noon time block for my service technician to arrive at my residence, since this was not an emergency situation. Monday morning at 7:30am I got a call from Daniel, the service pro from Ben Franklin Plumbing, asking if it was okay to come to my house now, & he would arrive in 15 minutes. I said that was awesome. He arrived, was friendly, asked what the problems I was having were, & had me accompany him to each bathroom as he assessed the problems with the toilets. He quickly determined what was wrong with each toilet, gave me the options of what repairs &/or replacement of the toilets would cost, & did not pressure to make any decision other than my own. What was really awesome, is that unlike many other plumbing companies, Ben Franklin Plumbing service technicians have large trucks, & Daniel had all the repair supplies available in his truck, & did not have to go back to the shop & get inventory out of the warehouse to complete the jobs. He arrived about 8am, & was done with """"everything"""", including cleaning up excellently after himself by 10:30am. Now, I know there is probably more than 100 plumbing companies in the Tampa area, & I have used probably 5 or 6 over the years, but Ben Franklin Plumbing, & especially Daniel, were 1st class all the way, from initial phone call, to customer service, to the repair work done, to cleaning up after themselves, & to processing my payment in a timely manner. This was the first time I ever used Ben Franklin Plumbing, but I don't need to look any further for who I call for future pluming needs. PS: Their prices are also very reasonable, & they do not charge by the hour. Just top notch.
They came out the same day, which was good. We had a clogged garbage disposal and pipe line. However, sticker shock - $352. I didn't hae a chance to compare to others because Maurici Plumbing (north Tampa area) could not make it the same day, but I think I could have gotten a better price somewhere.
Fritz E.Consistently great service from Nestor, Dan, Clay & others. The contract has worked out well in terms of the fee and services provided. Would highly recommend them
Our drain line clogs every 7-12 months because of the age and quality of the pipes, so we have to routinely get the line cleared. The first time we used Ben Franklin for this they did a great job and charged a fair price. However, our second experience with them was frankly unacceptable. The plumber tried to insist on doing all sorts of other expensive work before unclogging the drain and had a bad attitude when I insisted we didn't want or need to mess around with the septic tank. After my first encounter with him I jokingly told my wife to get ready to get reamed on the bill because he had an attitude, but unfortunately the joke was on me. Not including the trip charge we were billed $312 dollars for a 15 minute drain line unclogging. That's higher than the average price for that service, but what's really aggravating about it is that 9 months prior we were only charged $99 for the exact same service by the company. This was a price gouge because the employee had an attitude, plain and simple. It took us a few days to get ahold of the billing department only to be told that the price difference was due to being given a discount on the first trip, but honestly I don't buy it. They are supposedly sending us a $46 refund, but we will still NEVER call this company again because of this situation. I strongly recommend against using Ben Franklin for your plumbing needs, unless you want to roll the dice on getting a rude plumber that will overcharge you.
Called for them to come inspect our bath tub drains because they were not draining properly. Gary came by and thoroughly cleaned them out and now they are working even better.
Kim B.Randy did his best to fix leak problem in my kitchen sink faucet. Writing this review in 2 days after the service and the problem has not occurred since. He worked on what he has available, persisted even if the job required unusual tools which he didn't have available because faucet manufacturing is different and older, improvised a way to unlock the faucet.. he did a very satisfactory job.. i am very thankful..
