Too bad it isn't possible to give them zero stars because that's what they deserve. I called them to come out and give me an estimate on replacing a couple feet of drain pipe under my kitchen sink and install a new garbage disposal. The tech initially quoted me a price of $2,400 for this simple work. When I laughed in his face he said, ""Let me check with my supervisor"" and went out to his car and came back with a price of $2,000. I again laughed at him and told him and told him to send me a quote. The next day I get a call from a sales rep informing me that the manager had approved an additional reduction of $400 if I decided to do the work right away. So, at the very least, they were ready to overcharge me $800 for a simple job. To say they are like used car salesmen would be a terrible insult to used car salesmen. The kings of the bait and switch. If you have them do work for you make sure they reduce the price at least three times but I would never have a company that willingly rips off customers like this ever do anything for me. Completely untrustworthy.

Do no use this company. They drained my water heater without turning off the electric during a routine free inspection included in their service plan and broke the heating elements in the heater and would not fix for free. The technician lied and told the manager they did turn off the electrical. Our septic pump also failed only 6 months after they installed it.
This company is over priced and not trust worthy. The techs seem friendly and they are very punctual and available however not quality. Rip off. heir service plan is not worth the discount.

Theres a 3 hr window but you can pick a.m. or p.m. Ask for Nick or Robert (very experienced guys). Quality work. To date ive had: HVAC plumbing pipe replaced due to leak, kitchen sink drain & basket replaced (causing link under sink) and a new sump pump installed which came out nice (i had my electrician also place a dedicated plug for it too). Two young workers prior to Robert & Nick didnt seem experienced enough. One had a very exp'd supv oversee his sump pump install. The second missed the cheap drain & lack of putty in kitchen sink but they/BF, made it right...i demanded exp'd guy or gal and Robert arrived..restored my faith! You have option to pay monthly fee, 3 lvls of priority are then given you or not. I really like this business.

I'm a general contractor and this is by far the worst plumbing company I have worked with. I had my client call you guys for a basic shower stall install and you did anything but what I had asked when I was more than happy to make accommodations for you. You charged my client $15,000 for a shower stall that I saw for $2,000 and shouldnt have cost the client more than 5,000$ total. You cracked the frame when installing, mangled the bathroom door trim and didn't even level the base. I am absolutely appalled by how my client was completely taken advantage of for some shotty work. Will never recommend.

Pipe busted on a Sunday. Young man named Ben showed up fast and fixed the issue with ease. Ben was polite and helpful and effective.

My parents used Benjamin Franklin for numerous plumbing jobs on various properties. They come out quickly and are always very friendly and willing to help. All the extensive jobs were completed in a very reasonable amount of time and cleaned up when they were done. Highly recommend this company and will continue to use them in the future.

I had a flood of water coming from under my kitchen sink. Ken found the hole in my garbage disposal right off. A new garbage disposal installed and the problem went away. Professional and on time, they know what they are doing.

On May 11, 2022, Benjamin Franklin Plumbing of Andover came to my home to replace an outdoor broken spigot. I left so the technician could assess the situation, and came back to find him in my home taking pictures of my expansion tank and oil burner. He then asked where my hot water heater was. I asked why, I just need you to fix the outside spigot. He said he needed it for a safety profile of my home. It felt intrusive and made me extremely nervous.

We finally went back outside and he said ""$560 to take the board off (see photo) and then I can tell you how much to repair it"". I was in shock. I said ""I have to call my husband"". So I did, and put him on speakerphone. The technician says ""I don't know what I'm going to find when I remove the board, but I can remove the board for $360"".

$360 is still unreasonable, but I have to wonder why the price changed when a male was called. The entire situation was outrageous, so I paid the $87 for a service call (plus $9.95 that he called an environmental fee...for what?!) and sent him on his way.

Needless to say, I will never use Benjamin Franklin Plumbing of Andover and if I could give them zero stars, I would. They should be embarrassed.

I looked on Angi on Friday for a plumber near our rental house in CT. Benjamin Franklin showed at the top of the list with a 4.3 star rating. I clicked ""request quote"". In less than 5 minutes Eva from BF called. She was very pleasant, but a fast talker. Before we knew it we had booked with her for the following Monday before we realized she had not given a quote. But researching through Angi, the typical charge for replacing a hot water heater was a high of around $1800. We had purchased the Angi subscription which should have given us a 20% discount. When he presented us with a bill for over $2500 we were shocked. He didn't know about the 20% discount. I called Angi to inquire about it and learned that because we booked with them over the phone, it was considered off platform. Then we learn from the plumber that they are owned by Angi! Clearly BF is running a scam. Eva should have known that Angi requires booking directly from the Angi site. No wonder they had such a high rating. Yelp rating, which I looked at too late, is 2. And they insisted the bill be paid then and there. They would not invoice.

Don't use Benjamin Franklin Plumbing and don't use Angi!

*Update after BF response below. We went through Angi not home advisor. I did not know until Eva called that they are now affiliated. We were subscribers to the Angi site for all of 10 minutes before getting the call from Eva. I just spoke with Morgan from BF. Angi points the finger at BF and BF points back at home advisor/ Angi. Morgan has agreed to refund the $87 service charge. The plumber had also tried to give us a 10% military discount. My husband refused it because, while not a veteran himself, he comes from a military family and to claim something as a veteran he considers stolen valor. Morgan agreed to reapply the discount as a senior discount. I still say to stay away from Angi / home advisor and Benjamin Franklin plumbing.

If you want to feel like an idiot, use this company. We called them to snake a bathroom sink drain and to reverse the hot and cold lines on our faucet (which had been improperly installed by a different plumber we did not want to use anymore). Tech arrived at 8:20, and by 8:45 told me it would be 675. Extremely high price for what I thought was a simple job. He explained that the pedestal sink and the nature of the drain were such that it would be a major job to snake it for us. Needing the work done, I agreed, assuming that it WAS a major job. He begins work at 8:53, and by 9:19 says he is finished. Shocked, I feel glad it was so easy and then ask him what the price will be. He says 675, because they don't charge by the hour but by the job. He knocks 102 off and asks if that is OK. I calculate that at 575, 26 minute work, that is 1326/hr. I ask for a better deal, he calls his office, and they tell him he deducted too much already. SO - if I had known it was a job rate, I'd have said no. We should have read reviews first so we would know. It's an outrageous business model.
