Benjamin Franklin Plumbing, serving Lake and Mendocino Counties, was founded by Stan Kincannon as an independent plumbing business called Super Rooter in 1995. Over time, Stan recognized the advantages of franchising, including straightforward pricing, on-time guarantees, exceptional service warranties, and consistent customer feedback, leading him to join the Clockwork Home Services group as a Benjamin Franklin Plumbing franchise in 2006.
Stan Kincannon, originally from the chilly plains of Northeastern Montana, moved to the Bay Area in 1981 to attend college, graduating Cum Laude with a bachelor’s in Holistic Health from John F. Kennedy University in 1983. He furthered his education in health with a Master’s Certificate from the Institute of Experiential Therapy. Stan is happily married and has two grown kids.
Stan’s plumbing career kicked off in the autumn of 1988 at a plumbing wholesale distributor in San Francisco. After moving to Lake County in 1992, he entered the service and repair segment of the plumbing industry. He launched his own business in 1995 and currently holds licenses for California General Contracting (B), Plumbing (C36), and Sanitation Systems (C42). My water heater needed replacing (was leaking and pilot light wouldn't ignite) so I called several plumbers. Most could not come for several days. When I called Ben Franklin I was asked (by a human) to leave my number so a technician could return my call. Ken got back to me quite promptly and said he could come the next morning (which would be a Saturday). He arrived on time and got a new water heater installed quickly and efficiently. He even cleared up a sluggish faucet and shower head at no extra charge. I found him courteous and competent and feel quite satisfied with the service. I would guess they're not the cheapest around (it's the penny-pincher in me that withheld that fifth star), but I'm happy with the result.

Called because we needed a back flow valve installed on our property 6 months ago. Ken came out and did a fabulous job. He noticed our hose bib was not winterized. Ken just jumped on it and did it for us. He had such a fantastic attitude it was refreshing. We recently remodeled our kitchen, requiring new sink drains, garbage disposal, and dishwasher hooked up. No question who to call, we called Ken. Same professional attitude, same great work was completed. Thank you Ken, you have a customer for life.

Zero starts if I could. Called them at 2pm on a Friday and they said they were booked for the rest of the day and then proceeds to tell me they could come out tomorrow but there will be a $99 charge on top of the repair fees.... boo. You should really change your add by removing ""24 HR EMERGENCY SERVICE""

Ken Hodges's from Benjamin Franklin came out to our home. We requested him after he did a lot of repairs at my Mom's. He was knowledgeable, courteous, on time and friendly. Explained everything. Fantastic job. I highly recommend them and will call for future needs.

There are definitely not enough stars to be given. We had quite a serious plumbing problem. After just moving from Marin County to Kelseyville two months ago, we found what we think is our retirement home. That being said, we've never owned a home with a septic system.
Stan the owner sent his employee Ken. Ken not only took the time to explain every detail he was doing procedurlly but took his time. He wasn't rushed and after doing A, B, then C boom, he found the problem. It was raining, cold and stinky. Ken made no issues with anything. He fixed the problem.
We will ONLY use Ben Franklin as our ""go to"" plumbing company.
Thank you Stan and Ken.

I called and they were able to come the next day. Nice people but when they came out and looked at the problem, the service person implied it would take some time to fix and could cost me up to $518, but might only be $390. The way he e planned it I was under the impression that it would take a couple of hours at least. I agreed to have the work done. Imagine my surprise when less then 20 minutes later he was done. And I was still charged $390! That's more than a surgeon makes! Now less than 3 weeks later, I have another leak in the same area. NOT calling them again! And in case you're wondering, no they did not use a lot of replacement parts that would explain the price. He used one piece that would have cost me less than $20.00 at Home Depot

Last night my water heater died. Not an insurmountable occurrence. So first thing this morning I placed a call to Ben Franklin Plumbing as I have used them before.
Well after waiting all morning and into the afternoon, the plumber arrives. I was very glad to see him as we had to turn our water off at the street. I was sure it would not be much longer until all systems were restored.
The young man took a look at the water heater and it was decided it would have to be replaced. So the young man went back to his truck to quote a price. After he found the correct replacement water heater, he turned the book around so I could see the price. After blinking several times, the figure finally registered in my brain. $1,458. Yes, that is correct.
Now I know business is business. I get that. But seriously. I politely thanked the young man and explained I did not have that kind of money. I said I would attempt to get one on my own. His response, ""Good luck with that"". It was at this time I decided to call Mendo Mill. I was quoted a price of $329.99 and it was in stock. So in the end Ben Franklin thinks charging $1100 in labor is acceptable business practice. I am here to warn everyone, ""When considering Ben Franklin Plumbing, get a second opinion.

Blake was a perfect circle- always worked with us on pricing before he did any work. Did absolute A+ job on ALL work. Stayed LATE IN THE EVENING TO FINISH! Always explained why or why not something needed to be done. NEVER tried to overextend his man hours or products he installed. Very thorough and professional. Cleaned up any messes. Checked with his bosses before any major work or if he wasn't sure about something, rather than just diving in pell mell. Spent SO much time talking with us, explaining how the plumbing system worked. Super experience. Highly-recommended. We have a new permanent plumbing company.

Called and got an appointment pretty fast, the guy Stan?) Was a smart #ss but I needed my pipe fixed. He sent Kelly who took a look at my tankless water heater and wouldn't touch the small leak on an elbow pipe underneath the heater. It had nothing to do with the water heater! I wouldn't trust him to work on anything else because he obviously didn't know what he was looking at. Call Chan's instead, he was super nice, professional and had no problem fixing a small leak. I should have had the confidence to fix it myself. Next time I will!

I had an ""emergency"" with a house full of relatives for a few days--two of three toilets were plugged up! This was during the day time but on a Saturday. Their web site advertised 24/7 Emergency Service, so I called. The lady answering the phone (business like but not friendly) said a tech was on a service call and would call me as soon as he was free. He called within a half hour, but said he could get to me on Monday. 24/7 Emergency Service?!! Right!
I called Roto-Rooter. Their tech called back in just a few minutes, arrived at my house within 10 minutes, and solved the issue within a half hour (snaking an outside clean-out). By Monday, I'll have forgotten there ever was a problem!!
