In 1995, Stan Kincannon established Benjamin Franklin Plumbing in Lake and Mendocino Counties, initially as Super Rooter. Through the years, Stan discovered the perks of franchising, like transparent pricing, timely guarantees, excellent service warranties, and steady customer feedback, which led him to affiliate with the Clockwork Home Services group as a Benjamin Franklin Plumbing franchise in 2006.
Stan Kincannon, originally from the chilly plains of Northeastern Montana, moved to the Bay Area in 1981 to attend college, graduating Cum Laude with a bachelor’s in Holistic Health from John F. Kennedy University in 1983. He pursued additional education in health, earning a Master’s Certificate from the Institute of Experiential Therapy. Stan is married and the proud father of two adult children.
Stan began his plumbing journey in the fall of 1988, working for a plumbing wholesale distributor in San Francisco. After moving to Lake County in 1992, he entered the service and repair segment of the plumbing industry. In 1995, he started his own business and now possesses licenses for California General Contracting (B), Plumbing (C36), and Sanitation Systems (C42). Called Ben Franklin Plumbing to install new kitchen sink and faucet. The plumber gave me a price quote of over a thousand dollars, and I must say, I was taken aback at that amount. I decided to go ahead with the job. The guy went out to his truck for a while, came back into the house and told me that because of my reaction to the price, he wasn't going to do the job. Now I consider myself civil, and I did make a quiet gasp, but I told him I was okay with the amount. No, he told me, I should think it over for a couple of days, blah, blah, blah. Are you kidding me!! I found myself begging him to do the installation, but came to my senses and threw his ass out. If this is their working model it's a wonder they are in business.
All is well that ends well. I called a local plumber who did the job for less than half the price Ben Franklin was charging - and without
attitude. He did a wonderful job and I'm so happy. If you're in the Clearlake area call him: Terry House, 707-350-3105.

I can't say enough good things about this company. Ken is always so personable and his work ethic is comparable to none. I have had him at my apartment for a clogged sink 4 times now (not his fault btw). He is extremely accommodating to my schedule and makes himself available as soon as he possibly can. I have not had to wait more than 5 days when I called. He is very honest and does a thorough job. I live about 45 minutes away and he makes the trip no matter how early in the morning he needs to be to fit me into his day. Awesome business! I can't say on pricing because my landlord takes care of that for me it regardless, if you want the job done right, calm them.

Called with emergency Saturday afternoon and the woman who answered the phone said Ken would call me back. I waited for the call but had to go out, so I called again and said to please call me Sunday morning, emphasizing the emergency situation. It's now Monday morning and I never received a call back ... but Laytonville Disposal Service came at 7:30 this morning and fixed my problem. They get my 5 stars.

Ben Franklin Plumbing advertises 24 hour emergency service in Lakeport, CA. Called at 3:45 AM asking the answering service for a technician call back with a quote to unclog a toilet ASAP. Thirty minutes later I called again because I hadn't received a call back. I was told that ""the technician might be sleeping and didn't hear the phone"". It's now 8:00 am and still no call back. A business that isn't open 24 hours a day should not advertise that they are open 24 hours a day as it's dishonest advertising.

This was our 3rd or 4th time using Benjamin Franklin Plumbing. Plumbing emergencies can be a little stressful so it's comforting to know you have someone knowledgeable coming to take care of your problem (and they show up at the time they say they will).
This time Ken came out to remove tree roots that were blocking our main septic line. He not only got the line cleaned out but spent extra time going over the issue that was causing our line's blockage (collapsing orangeburg pipe) and walked us through options to remedy the situation in the future. Thanks again.

My water heater needed replacing (was leaking and pilot light wouldn't ignite) so I called several plumbers. Most could not come for several days. When I called Ben Franklin I was asked (by a human) to leave my number so a technician could return my call. Ken got back to me quite promptly and said he could come the next morning (which would be a Saturday). He arrived on time and got a new water heater installed quickly and efficiently. He even cleared up a sluggish faucet and shower head at no extra charge. I found him courteous and competent and feel quite satisfied with the service. I would guess they're not the cheapest around (it's the penny-pincher in me that withheld that fifth star), but I'm happy with the result.

Called because we needed a back flow valve installed on our property 6 months ago. Ken came out and did a fabulous job. He noticed our hose bib was not winterized. Ken just jumped on it and did it for us. He had such a fantastic attitude it was refreshing. We recently remodeled our kitchen, requiring new sink drains, garbage disposal, and dishwasher hooked up. No question who to call, we called Ken. Same professional attitude, same great work was completed. Thank you Ken, you have a customer for life.

Zero starts if I could. Called them at 2pm on a Friday and they said they were booked for the rest of the day and then proceeds to tell me they could come out tomorrow but there will be a $99 charge on top of the repair fees.... boo. You should really change your add by removing ""24 HR EMERGENCY SERVICE""

Ken Hodges's from Benjamin Franklin came out to our home. We requested him after he did a lot of repairs at my Mom's. He was knowledgeable, courteous, on time and friendly. Explained everything. Fantastic job. I highly recommend them and will call for future needs.

There are definitely not enough stars to be given. We had quite a serious plumbing problem. After just moving from Marin County to Kelseyville two months ago, we found what we think is our retirement home. That being said, we've never owned a home with a septic system.
Stan the owner sent his employee Ken. Ken not only took the time to explain every detail he was doing procedurlly but took his time. He wasn't rushed and after doing A, B, then C boom, he found the problem. It was raining, cold and stinky. Ken made no issues with anything. He fixed the problem.
We will ONLY use Ben Franklin as our ""go to"" plumbing company.
Thank you Stan and Ken.
