Awful customer service. Offices are franchised and the Corporate office does not stand behind their franchised offices. If the offices go out of business they off the bat tell you they don't honor the other companies warranty. It was only after I complained and went to the top that they were willing to help me but not willing to warranty anything they did. Then I found out the other company was more than willing to help me and guarantee their work. If a company chooses to franchise, they need to back up and stand behind the work that their franchise performs or people like myself will stop using companies that are franchised.
This was one of the worst contractor experiences I have ever had. The pipes had backed up so I called. Tech arrived and didn't have 2 minutes to listen to what was happening (save that tidbit for later). Proceeded to tell me he knew the exact problem and my pipe from the house to the street collapsed and I needed to replace it. Having no other options as the house was backed up I agreed to have it replaced to the tune of 7k. Next day he showed up to do the work, I left for an appointmment, and when I returned there was a day worker digging in my yard and no Benjamin Franklin employee around. Day worker asked for water because he was left with nothing in the summer heat and said they guy told him he'd be back later. Tech came back to finish and said he wasn't feeling well but it's all done. I discovered a yard left in ruins with high points and low points in my yard. Corners of block wall sheared off. Bare spots because he didn't excavate properly. Planters left at 30 degree angles that I had to move and re-level. Here's the tidbit....3 weeks later, pipes backed up again. There are two adults in my house and one travel 80% of the time so there is no way this was the problem and Benjamin Franklin knows it because they had someone out to clear the drain again and said there was some toilet paper in there...yeah ok. See pics below for damage. I was robbed of 7k by a licensed company and my guess is the pipes will continue to back up every few weeks.
I felt overcharged. Needed a simple cartridge replaced and had the part from the manufacturer. The last plumber I used charged me for one hour and $85 to remove the part and clean it and reinstall. When this repair only lasted about 4 month I got the manufacturer to send me the part (no charge. The original plumber was not available so I called Ben Franklin Plumbing. Was told they were having a special and it was no charge to come out and would let me know the cost in advance. Well they came out and replaced the part BUT never let me know the cost in advance It took them about 1.5 hours. The bill came to $375. When I questioned it that told me that was there ""flat charge"" based on the ""description of the work found in their work book""... so I reluctantly paid the bill. Thought it was EXCESSIVE for 1.5 hours of work, so I called the company. Basically told that is what they charge and use someone else next time if I was unhappy.
Christian came out to do a drain and flush on my old water heater and explained everything he was doing. Showed me how bad the water looked when it came out and was straight forward and honest. And rather than take chances and have water damage to my home. I went with a tankless water heater and Christian and his coworker were very professional and did the job right. Their integrity and professionalism showed while they were here working on my home.
I had another company come out and look at my sewer system and was told about four feet of my pipe was completely damaged. They gave me a repair estimate of $15,700. I wanted to get a couple more bids. Benjamin Franklin was one of the companies I called. I showed him the bid I had been given and asked what he could do for me he said he wanted to see for himself. So he put a camera the whole way through the lines and found no damage. He suggested hydro-ing the lines to bring them back to about 90% but wasn't absolutely needed. Kevin was fantastic and took the time to answer all my questions & was completely empathetic to my situation. Thank you Benjamin Franklin for having such a great employee and I will be calling you next year when I remodel my bathroom
Dennis N.I called Benjamin Franklin after finding a leak in my water line to my hot water heater. The came after hours to inspect and repair but after recognizing that I had water damage they recommended a water restoration company to repair and replace the wallboard. The visit cost me $129 with no work getting performed but it was the right thing to do so I did call a restoration company to remove the damaged walls and dry out the area affected by the leak. The restoration company removed the water heater to so they could remove the wallboard and called Benjamin Franklin to reinstall the water heater. That's when my problems started. Benjamin Franklin reconnected the heater using the same piping with the leak and left my home after without fully inspecting the work. The pipe started leaking after the tank refilled and was shooting water all over my walls. I shut iff my water and called Benjamin Franklin to tell them of the error their employee made. They scheduled a plumber to return on the next day. The next day I received a call prior to the plumber coming and was told that I would be charged for them to come back and repair their faulty work. I said that I would not pay and the customer service rep said that a manager would call me. The manager never called and the plumber never showed.
These guys are expensive no doubt about that. But they do first rate work and guarantee it for two years. I found myself in a pinch and other plumbers were scheduling from two to 10 days out. Ben Franklin assured me that they would be there when I needed them and do what I needed them to do. When they left I was poorer but so happy with the quality and workmanship they did that I would recommend them to anyone that wants quality work fast.
Linda D.UPDATE: Benjamin Franklin Plumbing keeps their word! Our problems were not corrected and we were charged for 2 visits. Thank you, Mr Brewer and the person I worked with, we were refunded!
Great business practices!
Jerry T.If we could give a review with 0.001 star, we would, but unfortunately one ""whole star"" is the minimum. Their slogan, ""We do it right the first time!"" We found out; not even close.
We called for emergency repair of a water supply line failure at our home. A tech showed up and offered up a fairly expensive quote. We had had one good experience with BFP, so we thought that their higher cost would result in a superior result and repair. We were so wrong! The tech found the damaged coupling and he became a little confused; he had ""never seen"" a water line like this one."" He ""doubted he could find a part"" to repair it.
The next 7 hours of the day were spent ""trying to find the right parts."" The BFP parts manager was on vacation, and no one in the office knew where to look. By 6PM, they located a part, far away from us. They started on the repair at 8:35 AM, when we signed their digital estimate! As it turned out, the part they ""got specially for our repair,"" was a ""temporary fix only, and incomplete in the package.
They could not warrant the repair, because it was improvised and only offered a ten-times-the-cost alternative repair.
You should never call this company for any work at your home or business. The owner of the company would not take our calls, and their ""customer service"" people became belligerent. We are stuck with ahuge hole in our driveway. Do not call company, for anything. I know we never will.

Roger diagnosed and repaired a major kitchen drain leak, and along the way also caught a minor shower controller leak and had to replace the shut-off valve in our 60 year old mid-century home. He was polite, patient, worked efficiently, explained everything clearly and thoroughly, arrived on time, and ensured we were satisfied with the job.
