This business is NOT licensed, and it is NOT the ""longtime Pasadena"" company it advertises itself to be. Check the license number on their website (#955742). I discovered, through the complaint process to the CSLB, that this company is really ""Jet Speed Plumbing dba Ritz Plumbing"" in Lomita, CA. Jet Speed is not a registered business on Yelp! Note that Ritz Plumbing has terrible reviews too, reflecting the same M.O. (http://www.yelp.com/biz/ritz-plumbing-los-angeles)

Whoever these people really are, never responded to my complaint through the BBB, resulting in a downgrade, and only the CSLB was able to resolve the issue as it put their license at risk.

Do yourself a favor, ignore the fake review from ""Stepha G,"" heed the real reviews, and move on down the line to another company.

These plumbers are working on an old reputation. They are not the same as before. I had used them before and asked for the same plumber and was told that he doesn't work there anymore. I was then told that they would send out a plumber in the morning. The plumber came around 5 o'clock and told me he couldn't work that day because it was too late and promised to come early the next morning. He never showed up. The following day he came. I had dug out where the problem was so there was no digging on his part. Also I purchased the parts that he would need--c. $110. After about half an hour's work we realized that the parts weren't needed and that the pipe he was trying to fix was not the problem. I asked him to cap the pipe because it lead out to an area that hadn't been used since I bought the property. It cost me $480! Yes, $480. But the part that I resent is he took the parts,so that's an additional $110. Think twice before you call Benedict and Benedict-- It's going to cost you big time.

We have (had) been loyal customers since we bought our home in 1974. Benedict & Benedict Plumbing (CSLB 409565--license inactive, not able to contract) has been sold to Mr. Reza Vandi, who operates out of Lomita, CA, as (CSLB 955742--Jet Speed Plumbing, Inc., dba Ritz Plumbing). Only the business of Benedict was sold, not the building, which was sold separately. On 06/28/14, we were charged $400 to replace a wax ring on one toilet and to install O rings on single handle Kohler faucet. The factory sent the O ring kit to me no charge. $400 was paid to the technician though it seemed high. Technician tried to ""up-sell"" a hydrojet of main sewer line. No sale. Then on 08/01/14, we received an invoice for $630 for replacing a toilet and a Moen shower valve for property three blocks away belonging to two friends, (both of whom are Judges). After a complaint, Mr. Vandi countersigned a letter of apology. The wax ring installed five months ago failed and they are coming back to do a re-work. Hopefully at no charge. The lady on the phone said: ""Oh, were you given a guarantee?"" My response was that she needed to talk with the owner, Mr. Vandi, about that.

These people really do suck. I would like to support a local, non-franchise business, but they overcharge like crazy, their ""technicians"" do sloppy work, and their office staff are rude and unhelpful. Definitely go elsewhere.

Benedict and Benedict Plumbing came out to clear a main line back up. Said the line had roots and needed hydrojet. They charged $650 for this service. I am a property manager and often have this service done; usually in the $250-$300 range. Two days later main line backed up again. Benedict and Benedict said they do not guarantee their service..... $650 for a line to be cleared 2 days. I can see by the other reviews this is their norm.

Customer Beware! I recently almost got taken for nearly $6,000 by this firm. Signing a contract for next day service resulted in a sleepless night and the good sense to call another licensed plumbing firm in the early morning. What a shock to learn that I could have the work done for $5,875.00 less than the Benedict and Benedict bid. Word on the street, Benedict and Benedict has new owners and is not the firm that many of us used in Pasadena for decades. kare

Don't use these guys. They are dishonest and will way overcharge you. There are lot's of honest and good plumbers out there. Even calling the office to complain about my plumber all I got was an attitude. Really really bad company.

I had Benedict and Benedict come out to my house for a pipe leak after I noticed an area of saturated ground in my yard. The technician who came out was very professional and courteous. I would say that he also went above and beyond what was required because he took the time to cut out some roots that remained from from a tree that I had previously removed, but were really imposing on the pipe.

I have read the other reviews. A fee for coming out to estimate the service is standard practice for the industry as I have called a few places, and nobody will give an estimate over the phone because they don't know what they may find. You get what you pay for. If you want licenced technicians who are competent and professional, then you will have to pay for it. I have used this company a couple of times now, and they have not disappointed.

Called Benedict and Benedict regarding a leaking angle stop (hot water side) underneath the kitchen sink and also mentioned my bathtub shower levers -hot and cold - were shutting the water ok but took a bit of effort to get the drips to stop - so spoke to the owner to get an idea of cost, and knowing something about what time should be involved in the repair I asked if $ 200 to $220 would cover it - I heard back a "" sounds about right"" - FAST forward to Monday morning- ''""technician"" shows up - did not seem like he was joyous to be there ( my house) at any rate - he says it will be $320 plus parts! so about $400.00 total -- hmm! ( by the way the Benedict """"technician"""" did not even shine the flashlight towards the angle stop...more on this later) so I called back Benedict's office and speak to the owner again. Now he tells me that he never agreed or mentioned any dollar amount. I found that insulting and unprofessional - I sent the """"technician"" packing. Ended up calling a plumbing contractor that I had replace the water heater a few years back as Benedict was backed up for several days at that time (go figure...) anyway - Doug K. came out, put a flashlight towards the angle stop and putting a wrench to it found that it just needed a minor adjustment and he did adjust both hot and cold. Then he tuned-up the shower valve by replacing some parts - works like a charm now - altogether $108.00 . What is sad about this story is that Benedict and Benedict was a top notch outfit back in the day and through the nineties until Steve T. retired and sold the business. He did re-pipe my place some years ago with copper and did a first rate job at a fair price. I guess it will be the same when Doug K. retires. It will be difficult to replace him. No more Benedict for me if I can help it...
I forgot to mention I did pay B&B $60.00 for the """"""""pleasure"""""" of their visit to my home ....

B&B will absolutely take advantage of unknowing customers and charge 3-4 times the going rate for simple repairs.

They charged my mother something like $345 to fix a leaky shower. If I had known I could have made a few trips to Home Depot and fixed it for about $30 and 1-2 hours of work.

These guys are not rocket scientists and do not deserve to be paid over $100 an hour.
