I called Ben to come check out my hot water heater that was not giving up the hot water. He came by and had it fixed in under an hour. The whole time he was explaining what he was doing and offering advice on how to keep the heater operating in good condition. The price was very reasonable and I could tell he took great pride in the work he was doing.

Just had Ben Jacobs Plumbing over to my Russian Hill building to fix a couple of problems. I was prepared for an expensive bill to replace a toilet and fix a claw-foot tub that leaked. Ben Jacobs Plumbing is, as far as I am concerned, the only plumbing outfit to call. I have known Ben for four years and he is the only plumber allowed to touch our house. Ben is very honest and straightforward in his dealings; he tells you upfront how much the work will cost and he never tries to jack it up with excuses about how the work was harder than he had thought. More important, Ben does ""museum-quality"" work. He is an ""old world"" craftsman and he takes pride in his work.

We have an old house and we try to retain its vintage qualities. Ben understands that and works to avoid wrecking original woodwork, tile, etc. He restored our vintage Art Deco bathroom plumbing and worked with a tile expert to ensure that the new shower pan matched the old as closely as possible.

Finally, Ben is a one-man operation. He doesn't show up with a ""helper"" and then disappear. He does all the work himself.

In conclusion, don't waste your time with some unqualified bozo. Call Ben for the best plumbing in town!

Honest and awesome plumber. I was afraid that my elderly parents would be taken advantage of when their water heater broke, but Ben was great, honest, affordable, friendly and knowledgeable. He saved us from getting a larger water heater than we needed, which saves us money in the long run too. He secured the water heater for earthquake safety with minor carpentry.
