We called Bell Plumbing on a Wednesday about having a whole house filter and water softener installed in our house. I answered some basic questions about location etc and was told it would cost $250 plus parts, but parts won't be much and he usually has what is needed on hand.
I was told to text my location to him and I would be put on the schedule for the following Tuesday. I texted like instructed.
On the following Monday I still hadn't been given a timeframe so I texted again and let him know the last part was out for delivery. I was told to let him know when it arrived, so I texted yet again when it arrived......crickets. Absolutely no response.
Tuesday morning arrives and still no timeframe. I call and get voicemail, leave a message.
Little while later I text. Finally I get a response saying they had a meeting and will be here at noon.
Noon comes and goes, no word. I text and ask if they need directions. About 45 minutes later they show up. They get out of the van and don't even introduce themselves. At this point I still don't know their names. They start looking through the boxes and rattling off sizes and stuff they need. The big guy says he didn't bring parts because most of them never work anyway. They go to the next set of boxes and start grumbling about location and how they will do it. Again, I still don't know their names, apparently no one introduces themselves, must be normal.
They talk to my husband, ask him if location of the softener is ok and then leaves without saying anyone. Neither of us have any idea what's going on or if they'll be back. I get a text about two hours later telling me they had to drive to Fort Smith for parts.
Wait, you had to drive 50 minutes away for parts? The the other stores 15 minutes away didn't have parts? Like PVC elbows and stuff? Doesn't sound right. I ask if the price is the same, we are on a budget after all, most everyone is these days I need to know if it's going to cost me more. I don't have a money tree anywhere I can tap into.
I'm told the cost has now gone up to $600. Because supposedly the parts cost $270! But if you add it up, $250+$270=$520. Somebody can't do math.
But still, the parts should not cost $270. I'm being ripped off here.
I nicely tell him we cannot afford that and I appreciate his time.
I am then ridiculed and berated about wasting his afternoon.
Completely unprofessional! This is not how you do business. It seems this guy thought he could rip us off. DO NOT CALL BELL PLUMBING. They will take advantage of you if given the chance and then try to make it out that it's your fault.
