Disappointed would summarize the relationship with Belanger & Sons. I chose them based on the several good reviews and, as such, I expected more. I am giving them 3 stars because of their good communication/responsiveness and their willingness to make it work. However, the work was not as good as expected.

Positives:

- Trying to make it work.


Negatives:
- The installation day they told me the installation was concluded and left. When I checked the soaking tub it wasn't level at all. It was, in fact, visible that it wasn't level since I could fit my hand below the bathtub on one side, while it was flush on the other. It wouldn't have happened if they had used a level to ensure proper placement before they left. The angle was about 10-12 degrees off.

- We were told our bathtub would be installed following the specifications of the manufacturer, but it wasn't. The specifications of our acrylic soaking tub called for a mortar bed, which was not used. As a consequence, our tub is squeaking when we shower, when we get in and when we get out. The squeaking started a couple of days after we started using the shower, unfortunately, so the tiles were already in place. Before knowing that NOT having a mortar bed was the issue, so I reached out to the manufacturer complaining about the issue with the tub and they asked me to take a picture through the opening behind the tub, which revealed no mortar bed. Because of that, the warranty of my newly installed $1,400+ soaking tub is gone. The manufacturer told me that any acrylic tub needs to be installed over a mortar bed. I would have expected the contractor to know that. Instead, the contractor tried to tell me that maybe the subfloor was not properly prepared and that maybe it was the subfloor that was making that noise when I step on the tub. They came 3-4 times in the course of about 8-9 months (yes, it took that long) to add expanding foam below the tub, but that didn't solve the issue.

- Minor: they left a small dent on one of the tiles next to the tub. They told me it was already there... The floor had been installed just a couple of months earlier and it was in perfect condition. I know these things can happen and I don't get mad, but I would have appreciated honesty.

###UPDATE a year and a half later###

We have since used Steve/Mike and the Belanger & Sons team for 3 or 4 other plumbing projects at the house, and continue to get incredible service at incredible prices. Most recently, our water heater failed and started leaking...Steve answered the phone at 8pm on a Thursday night and was here with a tank the next day and completed the work. Super responsive, great communication, and great work. So happy we found a trustworthy/responsive plumber.

I have two central air units. The one servicing the upstairs has had ongoing issues. I read Yelp reviews and decided to get a quote from Steve. His pricing was competitive with the other 3 quotes I received. The work involved removing the existing 30-year old system and installing new equipment and lines. He was timely in his performance. The work was meticulously done and the work area spotless. As work progressed he was responsive to my occasional questions. I very much appreciate the quality of the service. Also a quick shout out to his assistant Mike who was a major contributor to the process.

Steve was outstanding. Clean and quick. I couldn't be happier with the work and price. He did a fantastic job and helped me out when I had a pipe burst in two places on my baseboard heating system. This was due to frozen pipes so he recommended antifreeze. I wasn't aware that this was possible. This is the kind of person I want to do business with. Someone who's looking out for his customer and makes suggestions based on his expertise. I called him for an emergency but now he's my plumber for everything going forward.

Steve and his associate came right on time. They worked on both my gas fireplace and gas furnace. The fireplace needed general maintenance and cleaning, and its never looked better. Steve corrected a high-frequency pitch problem my furnace was having, as well as replacing some standard parts. They did an excellent job at a very reasonable price.

Steve and Mike did a really good job fixing my AC. They came and started professionally to inspect what might went wrong in the system. Although having a rough idea but still inspected thoroughly to rule out all other possibilities. Once found out there's a mouse's net in the outside unit had the wire broken, they fixed the issue on the spot. Straightforward communication, affordable price. I would highly recommend them if you need a HVAC job done right

Our experience with Steve was 5 star. Our water heater leaked around 8pm friday night. I tried calling our regular plumbing company but they were not available. So yelp came to my rescue and this listing showed up. Steve picked up my call right away and guided us on the immediate steps we could take. He patiently answered all our questions over text, even though he knew we could very well go with another plumbing company the next day, if we wanted. But he made sure we were all set. He was not available Friday night, but he did come by early Saturday morning and changed the water heater. His prices seem at par with what other companies are charging. He wore a mask throughout the appointment and left the place clean. Highly recommended!!!

Steve has been a pleasure to work with. I discovered him when I had a valve break on a Saturday morning and needed immediate help. I contacted 5 plumbers who claimed to have 24/7 service. Steve was the only one who called me back and was at my house within an hour. I was so impressed I have since had him do some other plumbing work for me. Seems to be willing to go above and beyond. Highly recommend.
