I called Moses, the famed Bearded Hammer, based on the Yelp reviews. He did not disappoint.

Our appointment today was for between 2 and 3 pm. We are retired, recently moved to Star, and were just hanging out when he called about 11:30 and said, ""Hi Paul, you want to mount a TV?"". I said heck yeah!

Moses arrived about 30 minutes later. He is intelligent, articulate, and sports a ZZ Top beard. We chatted easily while he did his work, and he does it well. A plumber by trade, he is very knowledgeable about all things construction. After mounting our 65"" TV on our porcelain fireplace, my wife and I talked to him about our other projects: installing curtain rods, building shelving in our primary bathroom, and mounting our washer and dryer on pedestals. He will be back in 2 weeks. We found his fee very reasonable.

We have found ourselves a dynamite handyman!

I agree with other reviewers for Bearded Hammer.
He's personable and communicative and experienced and was able to come over quickly (same day or the next day) to check out my sink garbage disposal and replace it, and he beat 2 other Yelp 5 star companies' quotes SIGNIFICANTLY, so he's definitely more affordable, especially during the highest inflation I think since President Carter was in office, and for someone on a lower income.

In Nampa he quoted me $150 less than one company and $220-270 LESS THAN ANOTHER!

For a job that only takes about an hour or a bit more, and is a basic job for an experienced handyperson or plumber, THAT'S SIGNIFICANT.

As it is, $120ish hourly labor charges is expensive for most (who usually aren't making anything near that, but who also don't have to pay for all their own overhead and taxes and insurance as business-owners or self-employed folks do), but for a professional who has lots of experience and is so competent, it's clearly competitive pricing.

Excessive pricing for basic jobs (by other plumbers, handy people, etc.) has become the norm in our area and it's ridiculous when basic jobs are probably (or should be) any contractor or repair person's bread and butter and are actually essential to life as we know it in some cases, not the potentially lucrative ""upgrade"" jobs that many of us can't afford and most don't really need.

I'm sure the job will need no attention for years to come and I'm thankful that one thing in my house should be set for a while lol, and I wish he were available in Eastern Idaho for some things that need done at a relative's home.

Regardless, he'll be at the top of my list for other things I'll inevitably need repaired or replaced at my house.

Moses is a keeper. My need for this project was a small job. Remove one bathroom mirror and hang a new one. He responded quickly to my request and when I returned his call, he was just a few streets away and came over immediately and did the job. Wow....first time that's happened. Great guy, easy to talk to, good work, experienced, and an eye for detail. I will use him again.

Moses was highly reccomemnded to us by close local friends. We have used him for two projects so far, with another in the planning stage ... maybe 2 others. The first was a plumbing installation, plus adding a grab bar. The second involved work in our crawl space repairing a dryer vent and and a major HVAC duct. Moses is extremely easy to talk to, and work with. My wife and I are seniors and beyond the age of doing many common homeowner tasks. We feel lucky thay our friends shared him with us.
