Set an absurdly long 5 hour arrival window, didn't show up, then called at 10 pm to ask if they could come then. Rude, useless scheduling staff. Do not contact them unless you want to wait 8+ hours for a no-show.

ABSOLUTE THIEVES! Really awful company and owner. DO NOT USE Bear Plumbing! They might have the strength of a bear, but only when it comes to ripping off customers.

Unfortunately, my experience with Bear is very much akin to the other horror stories on here. I wish I had looked them up prior, but as they came as the recommended company from AHS home warranty, I thought they would be trustworthy, or at least covered under the warranty. Neither was the case.

I'll try to give the short version of the story: I had a main line back up due to root intrusion, which probably could have been fixed with a hydro-flush, but they said we'll have to dig it out. I as a naive 1st-time homeowner felt pressured by them and the ""emergency situation"" and stupidly didn't know that I could've got a different company to come out and give a quote.

I don't remember the exact numbers, but the original job was around $2000. However, every time they made a dig, they came up with some reason to do more and ended up at about 6x that cost by the time they were done. I suspect that this is a well-practiced scam for them. The owner (I think) John came in and gave different quotes at different times for the same work and was pretty condescending.

Side note: after it was all said and done, I did call another plumber and told him what was done and asked what he would've charged. He answered between 5 and 8,000. In other words, about half as much as these thieves charged.

Most of the work got done well, but then the 2 main plumbers left without finishing the job. I think one had a family emergency or something. They left some wire and bags of concrete and took off $300 from the charge and said ""there you go.""

I had to have a concrete worker come in and tell me that they were going to do the job all wrong (they were not going to put in rebar) and that it would take $550 to do it right.

I called John the owner about this and he was condescending again but agreed to pay me back.

1 year later: he never did. I was on the road, so I didn't pay that much attention. I again called and told John the story and he was even more condescending this time and said, ""maybe it was you that asked them to leave and not finish the job."" WTF? Why would I have the workers leave without finishing the job? He never apologized for his crew bailing on their duties, and then he said, ""why did you wait a year to bring this up?"" I told him that I didn't, in fact him and I had directly spoken about it before and he never mailed the check! He offered to give me a discount on the next job. Obviously I told him I would never use his company again, but I did finally get him to mail a friggin' check. Jesus!

In my opinion, both AHS and this company are scam artists.

Bear Plumbing did an excellent job on my home. I had several issues from drainage to leaking and the fixed it all in a very short amount of time. I highly recommend John & David for all of your plumbing needs.

John came to look at my garbage disposal and fixed it within minutes (might have even been less than a minute). He showed me how to easily fix the issue in the future and was kind enough to gift me the right tool to do so. John was very kind and withheld all judgement... even though we both knew the issue with the disposal was most likely my fault .

Bear Plumbing was sent to my house by AHS home warranty. I submitted the request Su n, Bear contacted me Mon morning to schedule the appointment.
They provided a 6-hour window and called me 30 mins prior to arrival per my request. Two men showed up to unclog two sinks and resolve water hammer at another faucet. They worked quickly and efficiently and were done within 20 mins! I would recommend them for your plumbing needs. No nonsense service.

Seriously declined since since my old review Decent service but nightmare company. Extremely condescending technician and will never allow them to come to my house again.Read the reviews which are labeled as ""not recommended"" because they tell true story. People that are talking about well mannered technicians must be family.

On 10.22.21 I requested plumbing service through my home warranty company (American Home Shield). I receive the scheduled vendor information from my client portal the vendor selected was (Bear Plumbing & Rooter Inc 6836 Longridge Ave. North Hollywood, CA 91605-4740 (888) 775-2327) and the name of the service technician 'John'. Upon arrival, the first sign of poor service, parked on the wrong side of the street which clearly told me he had no intention of addressing the issue promptly. The first greeting demeanor unprofessional, no proper good afternoon I'm John from Bear Plumbing.

I explained what was happening, he initialed a drained test for clogs (snaked the drain), he went outside and indicated that the out access was sealed and he couldn't pull the cap off. He said it was a clog and the warranty didn't cover 'clogs' and that 'we' would have to call a plumber, thought that was what he was, guess we were wrong about that one, all in a matter of 10 minutes.

I walked outside after he left open the drain cap from the outside, we have an older house so if he would have taken the proper time to use a little hand strength he would have been able to complete his access correctly.

It is clear, he was lazy, unprofessional, and is working to not utilize the full effect of my home warranty plan. He indicated he would write his report and the service wasn't covered, the final straw. This company is listed as A+ but in actuality should be an -F.

If I could give them less than a 1 star I would. Do not use them for anything, Hands down this was the worst experience ever received from an American Home Shield vendor. By the way, I will be canceling my warranty service with American Home Shield as well it is clear to me that their advertisements are false and they only want to take monthly premiums and never service their clients in the manner they should. Strike three with them will never utilize American Home Shield or the terrible vendors they hire.

Total waste of money and time!!!!!!!

Bear Plumbing was dispatched to my residence for a toilet leak by my home warranty. The service itself was fine, they seemed quick, efficient, and were polite. Then I didn't hear from them for a while, so I called to follow-up on when the part will arrive and when they will return to fix the issue. That's when I found out that they diagnosed my issue as ""misuse/abuse"" and it is not work covered by the warranty! I was so confused! I've only ever used my toilet with care. I was advised by my home warranty to call Bear again to see if they could come out and re-diagnose. They refused. I relayed that to my home warranty and they sent out another plumbing company to diagnose the issue. They diagnosed it as wear/tear and will be fixing the problem by replacing some parts. BEAR PLUMBING didn't want to deal with my issue (because it's an expensive fix) and instead LIED about misuse/abuse in order to get out of the project. This is extremely deceptive and led to weeks of water leakage while this issue was sorted out by an entirely different company! I will also be making a complaint to my home warranty, because this was extremely time consuming and frustrating and I don't want other homeowners to go through this!
