My career as a general contractor began in 2000. I leveraged my status as a service-disabled veteran until 2010. Following a five-year hiatus in Maryland, I came back to Sacramento. I remain active as a general contractor and specialist in home improvements. In the future, I may pursue recertification as a service-disabled veteran. At this time, I highlight my business as veteran-owned, with military service spanning from 1972 to 1996. With experience at state, federal, and local levels in commercial and residential projects, I take pride in fulfilling homeowners' requirements and moving seamlessly from one small project to another. I expect this process to remain consistent for the foreseeable future.

I became self-employed after serving as a soldier in the Army. Many ex-soldiers opt for jobs that provide greater security, such as a consistent paycheck or an extra pension after another 15 or 20 years. I tried that route, but it didn't suit me. I found fulfillment in serving something larger than myself while on active duty. True leadership involves recognizing the responsibility of guiding others with a belief in collective effort. It was challenging to accept the complacency of those who don't recognize, value, or appreciate selfless service. For now, I enjoy my relationships with customers and the small impact I can make in meeting their expectations, rather than pursuing a traditional job. As a senior NCO, putting others' needs first was a common practice. As in the past, I will continue to serve where I can make a difference in the lives of others.

Our issue was with the A/C Mike was going to send someone else out to diagnose between 11-12pm, $88 to diagnose the issue to have our system running more efficiently. Guy did not make it got a call 10 minutes after 12pm saying a different Tech was coming. The technician arrived 3o minutes late. The Technician was great. (Lee) He answered all our questions...we had a lot. It got weird when Mike called me back...We had heard our Technician on the phone told Mike (Owner) we needed our coil clean...he had showed us how dirty it was and explained the difference it could make. He then told the tech to run a gauge to test for freon level...My husband walked out with the Technician...everything looked good! I was still inside when Mike called to tell me our coils needed to be cleaned and our system charged and gave me a quote for another $120 on top of the $88! I told him Id call him back after speaking to my husband...walked out and the Tech and my husband were shocked with the recommendation. I told the tech how shady his boss was and I could not give money to someone dishonest. We tipped the Tech 20 bucks did a google search on cleaning coils, bought the chemical spray to clean the coils ourselves from home depot for $5.50....

Our system quit working THAT night. We hired another company to come out (Environmental Heating & Air Solutions 916.780-4328) They checked our unit and now our capacitor needed to be replaced ( could be a coincidence but it was working fine according to BBhandys Technician.) He checked the coolant and all was fine...Our system was fully charged!!! AS WE EXPECTED. It did cost us an additional $311 to get the unit back working. For the service call and and Duall Capacitor replacement.

9/3/2014- Mike Contacted me today in response to my review...The nightmare continues.

Mike contacted me today to let me know he had made response to my review and letting me know I would be ""pleased"". What I found were quaint twisted lies, insults and lack of any responsibility. (He has since cleaned up the original response, however, It is still full of garbage.

This is what I can tell MAY have happened.

Mike is the owner...He subcontracts...

Mike is responsible for all TECHS representing his company.

It is possible MIKES Contractor (Lee's Boss) was the one padding the bill.

However, MIKE IS THE OWNER!! Mike is responsible!!

When I called Mike that day...there was NO....NONE....question as to why I was not excepting the work. I told him flat out the Technician said the unit did not need to be charged!! Mike got snappy with me and pulled the guy (Lee) of the job.
When his technician left...our unit was working!

We chose to clean the coils ourselves...not because we are cheap....but because we refused to give our money to THE OWNER that would push work that did not need to be done. We tipped the Technician because we felt awful for him. He had to face us as his Boss or Bosses lied to us about the work he had clearly explained we did not need.
Half of our Dual capacitor went out within hours after he left (coincidence, possible)...We called another company the following day...My husband is a retired plumber and Handyman and had replaced the capacitor about 6 years ago....one side went out we were quoted $150 for the part and install or if we wanted we could replace both again (dual) for $100 more.....we upgraded the service to be done with it....all we ever wanted was a unit that worked. We were not ripped off and we are totally comfortable with what we paid the other vendor....our unit works fabulous!!
I feel since I spoke out about my experience I have been treated awful....I have received 4 calls today....and everyone seems to have a worse result.
I do want to mention that at the end of it all....(I hope it is the end) my $88.00 was returned to me just a few moments ago.

To sum it up I feel Mike is likely a good guy,...he should likely not handle his own customer disputes, it is very personal to him, He needs a better relationship with vendors....someone was not trust worthy during this transaction. and he need to recognize he is responsible for everything that goes on on his Jobs!! I wish him the best of luck but I can't say I would recommend the service because......WE were lied to! We feel horrible for the Technician. We feel Lee is a stand up guy. Loyal to his boss. He deserves an apology....and a bonus!

As of today Mike has cleaned up his response for all of you to read. I wished he had left it...it was very telling of the type of person he is.
