I hired Bass Plumbing to do a few tasks for a bathroom renovation. One job entailed reinstalling my toilet after having the bathroom floor retiled. Their service technician decided it would be appropriate to install my toilet on a flange that was not bolted to the floor in ANY way. I discovered this issue after the toilet starting to leak from too much movement (because it wasn't bolted to the floor), breaking the wax seal. When I called to complain, they explained that yes, the technician probably should have mentioned (really?!) that the flange wasn't properly installed, but as flange installation was not on his list of jobs to complete at my house, he bore absolutely no responsibility for the condition of the flange at toilet installation. They would come install the flange properly, but I would need to pay for it. They would reset the toilet again for free. I agreed to those terms as long as it wasn't going to cost $200 or some other ridiculous amount. Any guesses as to the amount they charged to bolt a new flange to the floor? $175 + tax. After a quick, charged conversation with the office where everyone was annoyed and angry, a $100 charge was agreed upon. Thus far,I can't find anyone who thinks that a PLUMBER installing a toilet on a flange not bolted to the floor is acceptable, but if you're that person, then Bass Plumbing will probably be a good fit for all your plumbing needs. If, however, you think there is even a small chance that, like me, your plumbing needs will require someone with initiative, problem solving, or the ability to deviate as needed from a pre-decided task list, keep searching.

Dependable, fairly priced service. I would highly recommend for boiler repairs. I have used them several times in the past months (February 2020) and have been completely satisfied.

Not helpful at all. First time when we used their service for emergency they charged us twice for a new piece of equipment on top of all the additional emergency service charges. Second time when called regarding boiler leakage the lady on the phone said that they don't have any emergency service appointments. Won't call again.

Asked them to hook up a tub. Took 2months to get an appointment. I said Ok Im not in a rush. I was then given an appointment and they no showed on the scheduled time. No apology from Steve bass. When asked when they could get to the job they then said they were too busy and to call some one else. 2-3 months of time wasted. Never been treated so rudely. Save pain and suffering and call someone else

what a horrible company. They charged me $560 to heat a crawlspace for an hour and didnt help with my frozen pipes in the walls. the one man was rude, in my house without me being there, and told me he would tear a whole in the kitchen cabinets and the bathroom wall. and i said than what? we cant fix it we are not sheetrockers. i said why would i want to make holes in my wall and cabinet? i got the bill $560 and i was so livid i called the owner. he took off $50. He said we had to send two people. they did not. the smaller younger guy did everything. there was no reason to charge that much just to heat up an area and i still had frozen pipes. He said well you didnt let my guys do what they had too. he didnt even listen to the fact that the older man was going to destroy my walls to heat pipes up. the younger one, showed me how the pipes were in the wall and should have been routed in the floor and that was why they were frozen. Told me rerouting the piping would work. So here i had to pay $560 dollars outrageous....with deffering answers. of course any one with common sense, would know not to make holes and ruin walls. they did know the right way to fix it. but the owner didnt even hear or listen to that. just took my money.

it was New Years Eve weekend and I had called a bunch of plumbers,
a friend gave me Bass plumbers number. I also saw them on t.v. talking about frozen pipes. how shameful to charge someone that much and not fix a thing. only to heat a crawl space up!!!

I had told the girl in the office i have a crawlspace and need someone small to crawl in and use a salamander to heat up the frozen pipes.
this company sent two people. the older of the two wouldnt answer even the simpliest of questions, and he wanted to ruin my kitchen cabinet and may bathroom wall make a hole in it to defrost the frozen pipes in the walls.
the younger smaller of the two answered my questions, told me i could have the pipes re routed and not use the ones in the walls, get a heat source down there a heat tape on the pipes. He was informative and nice. But how much they took advantage of a woman alone, my first house, and my pipes frozen. I got an estimate from another plumber, charged me nothing to come, and his estimate for new pex piping and heat tape and insulation rerouting the pipes, was $800. and for heating the crawlspace for an hour, Bass Plumbing charged me $560 with $50 off after i yelled and talked to the owner.
i should call the television station and tell them how much they gouged me. and how untrustworthy and unknowledgeable the one guy was and the owner not caring to know about how they were going to fix it. awful experience...

They did not honor their guarantee and they do not return phone calls (3). They were friendly but I would never use them again.

bass has always been my go-to for plumbing needs personally and professionally. I had such positive experience with calling them for client emergencies (and even non emergencies ;) ) and they were able to work with me on invoicing the agency that I work for so that clients didn't have to come up with cash in hand for services on the day. the office is always courteous and helpful with quotes and getting a worker out asap. I was so impressed, that when I moved into my first home, I called upon bass to service my furnace that needed some TLC. the plumber said he had years of experience and indeed was very knowledgeable about various new homeowner questions and concerns that I had. with other big-name fleets for plumbers in the area Bass is by far a better choice for value of services.

First the good:
1. Our water heater wasn't working after a pipe break and basement flood. Bass plumbing was out that day to assess the hot water heater.
2. After attempting to fix the water heater (and realizing that it was doomed), they were able to order a tankless hot water heater (an upgrade) and install it the next business day (we called them on Friday, install done Monday morning).
3. The insurance adjuster arrived at the house as the plumber was getting ready to leave. The adjuster needed to take photos of the damaged heater, so the plumber said to just give him a call and they would come back and pick up the tank when the adjuster was finished.
However...
1. The plumber got into an argument with our neighbor while parking his truck Monday. I don't know what the argument was about, but I did hear the plumber yelling several choice expletives at my neighbor.
2. The plumber had a cigarette while standing outside of my basement door. I know this because the whole house smelled of cigarettes (as a family of non-smokers, cigarette smoke is VERY noticeable), and I found a cigarette butt outside of my basement door that afternoon.
3. I called Bass Plumbing Monday afternoon once the adjuster had left and we scheduled for them to come back and remove the tank the next morning. Well, Tuesday afternoon, when no one had come back to pick up the tank, we rescheduled for Wednesday. Wednesday afternoon, when no one came back, we re-scheduled a time for Thursday between 12-3. At 3:30 on Thursday, I called back (getting VERY frustrated at this point) and left a message. At this point, I was getting very concerned because I paid for the work on Monday (which included removal of the old heater). Finally, at 3:45, someone arrived to take away the old heater.

So, they did the work, however customer service was not the best. At least I have hot water, though.

What is it these days with the Plumbers, electricians, carpenters, etc. You hear that times are tough, not as much work out there.... Yet when you actually do need someone these guys are becoming less & less reliable! After being stiffed by 2 other local plumbing companies I saw the Bass Plumbing truck parked in the lot of Home Depot in Schenectady. I thought ""maybe"" these guys can help me? After all they had a nice looking company truck - whatever that's worth. So I waited for the guy driving it to come out. I walked over & introduced myself. I specifically asked ""are you guys reliable? Do you show up? Return calls?"" Oh yes Steve is great give him a call. I did, that weekend & was told Steve would call me early in the week. Nothing. I called back & emailed -- it's now been 3 weeks. Guess these guys are no better. I don't get it, Work ethic has gone down the crapper. Helloooo Anybody Out There???
