Recommended Customer Reviews
This is a followup to my earlier review/rating of Barron a year ago. At that time, they had installed a new heat pump system when our old furnace died. My review then was excellent; sadly, the story has evolved.
I asked Barron to return for an annual recheck/cleaning of the system in 2/16. When they did, they tested the system and told me that system pressures were excessive and that I now needed to add additional ducting to the tune of $1250. In effect, they installed the system improperly/inadequately but now it was my responsibility to make up for their mistake.
We debated back and forth and in the end they agreed to reduce the charges for the work to $675- better, but still unfair, I think.
Bottom line: Barron's made a competitive bid to design and install a functional heat pump system, we signed a contract, Barron's didn't fulfill the contract, and now I get stuck paying for the remediation.
Very disappointing.
C B.The good: Extremely personable, friendly and nice both on the phone and in person. Prices are reasonable and they say they guarantee work for 90 days.
The bad: After they serviced it, they forgot to turn the furnace back on, so we were without any heat for a week! Clearly, attention to detail is lacking. I asked for some kind of refund or discount and they said they would get back to me and never did. The guy who came out to fix it made it sound like it was no big deal. Upon request, he said he would check with a supervisor on some kind of refund or compensation for their error. Nobody ever follow up with me. I still can't believe that they left us without heat for a week in March - one of the coldest weeks this year!
Michelle W.Let me start by saying I believe in supporting local businesses. Both my dad and husband are business owners in Whatcom County and I understand how challenging running a business can be; that being said, if you have ever thought of using Barron Heating- for your own sake, please don't! Our heat pump that's under a year old has not worked since November (it's almost March) This was a very expensive unit, is less than a year old and is our primary form of heat, which has been out ALL WINTER. Barron has sent a tech out multiple times (he's been very kind but hasn't been able to fix the unit) Now, rather than returning our calls, they are completely ignoring us- ignoring me, specifically, is nothing new, anytime I've left a message for the service manager and asked that I get a return call, my husband gets a call- I've never said to call my husband. I'm insulted that my calls have never been returned and I've been nothing but polite and understanding. The tech was in our home all day over a week and a half ago. He expressed his frustration and said he'd do whatever he could to help us get s new unit. My husband called the manager a week ago and still hasn't gotten a return call. Now, a week after trying to reach someone via phone, he's rearranged his work schedule to go in there today and hopefully get answers in person. This has been a horrible experience - our heat went out the end of Nov and it's now almost March and still no heat... All winter long and Barror has done nothing to make this right, not even replace the defective unit they sold us. We have two little kids and have been freezing this winter after purchasing a brand new heating and cooling system- this simply shouldn't have happened. For a local company they don't do a good job of caring for their local people.
Very recently had a Barron's heating technician visit home to inspect our 18 year old carrier hot air furnace. After about a minute of inspection he diagnosis was ""you need a new brand new furnace"". I believe he stated at that time that some sort of internal exchangers were faulty and they could not be repaired. As he walked out the door; I accidentally found out the furnace manufacturer was involved in some sort of class action suite.
So I thought it would be prudent to at least get a second opinion. After checking with Carrier; I was told that my heating system furnace might be involved and that perhaps a second opinion would not hurt. I did using the furnace contractor they recommended and was informed that the furnace was in satisfactory operating condition. Their service mechanic spent around one and a half hours checking everything that should have been inspected and informed me that he could not find anything wrong. That was done visually and with the use of gas vapor testing meters. To sum it up; nothing last forever; but I guess at that time my ""Barron's"" guy wanted to sell me a new furnace.
Gregg O.I wouldn't know whether they work they do is good or not - they are good at providing estimates, but good luck getting any follow-up call or trying to schedule work. I requested and received a quote for work to clean the furnace and ducts and was told that dispatch would call me within a few days to schedule. a week later I called back and requested scheduling an appointment and never heard back from them. A month later, went through the same process with the same results.
they might provide good service but scheduling is a nightmare and not worth the effort. I found a great company and will provide a 5 start review for them.
Love Barron Heating! After having different heating companies come look at our furnace and give us quotes for a replacement, they were the only ones to tell us it's not the furnace but the venting in the crawl space. They fixed the venting and we decided to buy a new furnace from them (our idea not theirs). We also are repeat customers, signed up for a service contract with yearly cleanings, and had them do a thorough vent cleaning. All very reasonably priced. Liked their service so much had central air installed by them, and they will be installing our hot water on demand system soon as well! Love that this company is so versatile...they have our business for life!
Lisa J.I enjoyed great furnace service today! Vitaliy was timely and very professional. He took time to teach me about my fireplace instead of rushing through his job. He was relaxed and cheerful, I enjoyed having him in my home. Great job Barron!
Gail P.I really love and trust Barron Heating.
We built a home, starting in 2008 and Barron Heating did all the duct work; fireplaces etc. During one of the inspections, the inspector asked a question from under the home, which related to the system. I could not answer that. Barron Heating sent somebody out within one-half hour to have somebody go under the home and answer my question. They did not charge me! AND they were so nice to boot.
The one thing that we did not do was put in air conditioning. As we all know, it has been unusually HOT in Whatcom County this summer. Actually it was last summer as well, however, this summer we finally decided to go for it. A salesperson by the name of Wes came out and gave me a quote in very little time. I was thinking it would have cost more. I purchased it on the spot, because I trust them and they have done great work for me. Today, it was installed by Jackoby and Raymond. They could not have been nicer or more helpful OR efficient. It took very little time and they were so quiet that I actually fell asleep in the home, while they were working. I was very tired from a SEAHAWK party the night before. The only time the needed to come into my home was to ignite the wire in the thermostat. They took off their shoes both times and left my garage immaculate. There was a licensed electrician there and before they left, an inspector from the City of Bellingham came out, to sign off.
WOW, I love this air conditioning. Life is just TOO short to be miserable even one day a year. Call Barron Heating - they will make your life better!
PS: I have them service my fireplaces and they have cleaned out my ducts, after the home was built. Wow, did that make a difference!
This is a customer service review based on one phone call, so take it for what it's worth. I called asking about residential heat pumps, and spoke to a seemingly polite gentleman who was long on anecdotes, and short on information. Long story short, when I asked him about arranging the in-home assessment, he recommend that we do it at a time when my husband was available so that they could show my husband everything and explain the assessment to him. I politely told him my husband would probably prefer me to be there since I'm a mechanical engineer! I relayed this to another female engineer friend who said she had the same exact experience. Come on old guys! Join the 21st century with the rest of us ladies, why don't you!?
We had a ductless heat pump install. The product seems to be functioning however problems with customer service. We had to pay an extra 600 dollars to fix a situation that was handled severely wrong by the sales person. Buyer Beware!!! I was quoted way less then billed. Sales guy just wanted to make a buck and doesn't care about the customer at all.
