he showed up in a mask - but it kept falling under his chin - he could have cared less.

scummy outfit - i wish i had checked yelp to see the ratings before we called - completely misled us on the charge - do yourself a favor and find someone else - i wouldn't recommend this company to anyone.

We moved to CT back in 2007, and we signed on with Barrieau when we first came up. Never had any reason to leave them - they have been terrific since day one. They come out for annual inspections and give our oil tank and furnace a ""health report card"", and they're always great about delivery service. We even have an agreement to pay them a standard set price every month (we stop it in the summer, because we always end up with a big balance by the beginning of the next year) which sets the price lower than paying-as-you-go. Their customer service has always been really friendly and helpful, and I have no complaints, only accolades for them.

Jim seemed like a nice guy who understood our oil needs, so I decided to use the $100 coupons they sent and signed up for automatic delivery. The first winter was ok because despite their prices (higher than everyone else but not until after the first delivery) the coupons made it on par with everyone else. They gave me one last fill up in May of 2018 that lasted until October. I almost ran out of oil which is something Jim promised wouldn't happen. I was on empty and after leaving a message for Jim, I didn't hear anything. I dreaded calling back because the lady who answers the phone is very combative and always rude. I never understood how they kept her employed when she treats customers like an inconvenience and speaks rudely and in a condescending manner. Anyway, upon calling back, she told me that nobody would be out to my area until the end of the next week, too bad for me. I called a different company who was much cheaper and came the next day. She called me about a month and a half later and said that she had a note that I required a call before delivery. This must have been self imposed because I had an automatic delivery agreement with Jim and had never mentioned that I required a call first. She again said that it would be over a week until someone came out. I told her I had an eighth of a tank and didn't want to risk it. Again, she said too bad so I called someone else. If you are going to charge the highest prices in the area, you should have the best product and service. Otherwise, why would I pay more for crappier service? Don't let these people scam you like they have done to others. They are more expensive and don't care about their customers. No reason to ever call them with so many better options in the area.

On a friend's recommendation, we had their technician come out for an annual inspection and servicing of our A/C unit, for which they charge $272, and which took about 1.5 or 2.0 hours. He found two ""problems"" which he said could ""cause a fire"": we paid another $278, the vast majority of which was for labor. Total of $550.

That was bad enough, but almost immediately after he left, the A/C started to emit a high pitched whine.

When we called the company to share our concerns, they never even had the courtesy to call back. Pretty shoddy, $550 later!

I wish I had checked with you first and found out what a terribly low rating they have. We will never use them again, and would never recommend them to anyone.

Starting to think all Heating Oil Companies operate unethically...

I signed on with Barrieau Oil in Dec 2017 with their sales rep Jim who came over the house. Jim asked what my average oil usage was. I made it very clear to him that I would require a delivery every 6-8 weeks during the winter months (since my boiler is not working like it should be). Jim confirmed that he understood this. First auto delivery was on 12/30/17-fine. Second auto delivery was on 1/18/18, just 19 days later after oil prices climbed by 50 cents a gallon. I called Barrieau and asked why would a delivery come 2.5 week's after the first delivery, especially since I had more than a half tank of oil (143 gallons) left. Well Jimbo gets on the phone and proceeds to tell me that they didn't want me to run out of oil because it was really cold and other people were running low. First off, I reminded him of our initial conversation about me needing oil every 6-8 weeks, which he seemed to understand at the time and secondly, don't base my oil needs off of your other customers. Jimmy Jim goes on to explain (lie) how my oil tank holds 275 gallons and 100 gallons of the tank are unusable because they are made of sludge and air pockets. Wow! With his skewed logic, how have I been receiving oil deliveries of 245 gallons? I'm pretty sure Jim the Conman wanted to deliver less than a half a tank of oil to me 19 day's later because oil prices went up 50 cents per gallon. Feel free to rip off as many other customers as you want; it won't be me.

Scummy tactics by an oil company. I was told I was going to be charged $2.09 a gallon. On the second refill I was charged almost 50 cents more per gallon. I wouldn't have had them fill the tank if they were gonna charge so much. Especially when all of the other oil company's in the area are charging around that $2.09 number. Do yourself a favor and use a different oil provider.

I have dealt with this company for many years. They have provided oil for our household, sold me a new furnace and in general take care of all of our plumbing needs. Recently we purchased a split system air conditioning unit from them, and we really couldn't be happier. Cool quiet Airconditioning, wonderful for those dog days of summer.

This is an extraordinarily well run company. You can trust them to send honest and competent technical staff to help you with your HVAC and plumbing needs.

STAY AWAY. Barrieau had unethical business practices! I was lied to by them, then they canceled my contract right when a cleaning was due (my contract included a free cleaning) and I needed oil. They agreed to one thing in Feb, then told me in August that I was ""in violation"" of my contract and left me high and dry. I was honest with them all along, but obviously they just wanted to make a sale in Feb. Apparently, all of this was run directly by Mr. Barrieau- it is hard to believe that in this economy he would treat a customer so poorly. The manager of the office wasn't apologetic or kind at all as she explained this either. It was clearly their mistake, and was handled quite poorly.I would avoid this company at all costs! I will be taking my business else where and suggest you do too!
