I called to have the working boiler checked. The boiler failed the next day, and although it took some time to fix the issues, the service manager and service department were responsive and completed the repair.
I called Barrett about a month ago because I was interested in installing a kickspace heater in my kitchen, a room that does not get enough heat. One of their guys came out a few weeks later. Very friendly, immediately said if I had any questions, etc to email him directly. He spent a decent amount of time at the house, and explained to me that the kickspace heater would not address the issue (not quite sure I understood the explanation - had something to do with how many zones I had). That led to him asking me about my 4 mini-splits that I primarily use for AC. He inspected them and said that all the line sets needed to be replaced, there was corrosion. He then said he would send me an estimate. He did (close to $5,000) - I responded saying that right now I couldn't spend the money, but I did ask for some clarification about why the kickspace heater wouldn't work, and also another question about a tip he had suggested. No response. The following week, I sent a reminder follow-up, asking if he could kindly answer my questions. No response. The next week, I sent a THIRD email - and still, nothing! Unbelievable. I guess since I can't drop $5,000 now, it's not worth answering my simple questions. I will definitely NOT be using Barrett any time in the future!
Don't return phone calls 1st and foremost. They jerked me around kept saying ""oh we'll call you back"" and just don't period! Wanted to send a 2nd tech out for an estimate because the could not get ahold of 1st tech to relay information/quote to me? No thanks!
I'd a jetted stand alone tub leak in my new home and had a friend refer me to Barrett. I expained what was wrong with the jetted tub to the Barrett receptionist who advised they would have someone take a look at it and if they could get the part, they'd fix it. If they were not able to get the part they would not be able to help. I understood this prior to the arrival of the plumber. When the plumber arrived, he sat in the car for more than 15m on his phone prior to coming in. When he did come in, he looked at the tub, immediately advised Barrett doesn't work on jetted tubs, never turned on the water or remove a front panel. He didn't touch the tub at all. I explained my conversation with the receptionist. He said he couldn't help. Two days later Barrett charged me for a $125 service call. I called the office to dispute the charge and the woman said ""we told you we don't work on those"". I questioned why I'd have them come out to look at it if they'd advised they don't work on these. It would be ludicrous to try to sell that story to anyone. I've been advised that the Barrett's have sold this company. Whomever bought the Company name should be ashamed to ruin a man's hard earned name & reputation in this business. If this is the way the new owners do business, I would not recommend them to pull hair out of tub drain. The office staff clearly needs to be trained in what services they do provide. The original Barretts would be very upset if they knew what was happening to their good name.
Barrett Plumbing & Heating just installed 2 furnaces (1 basement & 1 attic) and central AC units in my home. I can't say enough good things about them. The price was very fair. The work was completed in a thorough and professional manner. The work crew (Alberto, Peter, Jack, & Dylan) was courteous and always explained necessary details and answered questions. As the job progressed, unexpected challenges arose due to faulty installation of the existing system. The crew was not fazed and they worked through those challenges.
Prior to the work being done, Mr. Barrett was very generous with his time, visiting my home 4 X's in order to give me quotes for various options (repair existing furnaces, adding AC to existing furnaces, replacing the furnaces).
Six years ago I used Barrett Plumbing & Heating for a similar project at my previous home. They did a great job then as well.
From the top (Mr. Barrett), to the workers in the field, to the staff in the office (Sue, Anna, & Barbara), everyone is polite, knowledgeable, and professional.
I highly recommend Barrett Plumbing & Heating for any of your plumbing, heating, and air conditioning needs!
Janet M.Best pricing and prompt service. Very friendly and efficient. I love the customer service
Avoid Barrett Plumbing and Heating.
If you go to the website you will notice Mr. Barrett has ""testimonials"" which means he can sort through mail and select only those that have good things to say about the business. It should be noted that after many years in the business there are only four testimonials. You might also notice that no where is there any reference of an assurance of satisfaction nor any guarantees.
Barrett did several jobs for us but I cannot say that they ""completed"" jobs for us. In August we paid Barrett to thoroughly clean, check, etc the heating system. The first time the heat was turned on in Oct. ....nothing. Barrett charged us their weekend rate to send a repairman. He diagnosed the problem as an electrical one and left. The electrician came and determined it was not an electrical problem. He found a closed return valve that Barrett's technician should have noticed. Once the vale was opened, the heat came up immediately.
We sought reimbursement for the bills we incurred due to Barrett Plumbing and Heating's error. Richard Barrett will not take responsibility for his company's error, will not reimburse us and has the poor taste to blame the electrician for the problem.
Needless to say - should you proceed to use Barrett you have been warned about Mr. Barrett's lack of good business practice.
Lillian C.I called and requested a service call for no heat. They said they could schedule me in a few weeks because they were ""down a couple of guys"" and I wasn't an established customer of thiers ,unless I wanted to pay overtime rates. I said I no because I had furnace worked on last winter by a local company. I researched my records and found that it was Barret who did a close to one thousand dollar repair last yer. I called back and asked if they were aware that they had worked on furnace in past. She said yes but I wasn't a ""REAL CUSTOMER"". I asked about warrenty she said parts were under warrenty for a year but by manufacturer and work was covered for thirty days so good luck finding someone. No apology no recomendation of another company basicly just blew me off......All I can say is when and if time comes for a new furnace I will not be calling BARRETTS!
