I've got 4 words for you: RIP OFF, SCAM, SCANDAL! Avoid their ""Advantage"" leasing program at all costs! My now deceased parents were conned into signing up for a 10 year lease on a ""new"" unit for $22,200.00 @ $185.00 a month for a unit that was worth MAYBE $9000.00.

At the end of the 10 years though it just goes month to month and if you want to buy out the lease at that point they have a ridiculous clause that you can buy it out at yet another 61% of the agreement amount or just keep paying month to month - for something that you supposedly have already completely paid for!! WHAT??

My parents in the time they were alive and paying on the unit had already paid nearly $10,000.00 into the lease and then they both died within a few months of each other and I am being forced to pay over $12,000.00 to buy out the lease that the terms on it were only $22,200.00 (more than double what the unit was even worth to begin with) and for what? Excluding the installation, there were only 10 service visits over 55 months, with six of those related to furnace malfunctions. This raises concerns about the quality and necessity of this leased ""new"" furnace but me being forced to pay the rest of the amount on the lease does not allow that service to continue for the new owner not that they would want them there anyway.

This leasing program is completely predatory and should be illegal. They are taking ""advantage"" of the elderly with this program!

Want to read more - go check out the Better Business Bureau on them and read through the hundreds of complaints there, most of them specific to the scam that they call ""SERVICE EXPERTS ADVANTAGE"" -- https://www.bbb.org/us/tx/richardson/profile/heating-and-air-conditioning/service-experts-heating-air-conditioning-0875-19000269/complaints

Do not let them take advantage of you!!

I started a maintenance request after I had problems installing a new Thermostat. I was able to get it to work. Today Chris Haynes came out to perform a service check and all was good. Chris explained what he was doing and what may need attention. I would recommend Barlow Service Experts.

Barlow did an excellent job installing our new heater and air conditioner 6 month's ago. They came out today to do the free 6 month's maintenance and again did a wonderful job. We were very happy with Taylor & Mike. Very professional & friendly, answering any questions we had about changing the filter, etc. We would recommend to anyone needing these services.
Sincerely, Bonnie & Jim Eads

I've had Barlow for almost last two years they been coming out every spring and fall for ac and furnace maintenance. My AC unit was leaking refrigerant and they only recommend to replace the whole unit. They didn't ever try to find the leak only recommended a dye test but it will ""take weeks to find the leak"". I got a second option with a different company and turns out it was just schrader valve. Won't recommend them they also still charge my monthly subscription after I cancelled.

We paid up front for our HVAC to be updated before we finish the remodel in our basement. The Barlow team did not have the time to finish the job like they thought, the day before Thanksgiving, so they told us they would come back and finish. They did not clean up after that days work and left us to clean up there mess on Thanksgiving. When I called the manager Brad he was arrogant and condescending. He did not care that we pend our Thanksgiving cleaning up his companies mess.
We were victimized by a man at our home and he set our home on fire. Called and Emailed Rikley Chambers on January 16, 2023, about the fire and asked for a refund of the over payment, being we will have the Restoration team fix and finish the HVAC system. In April 17, 2023, I called and emailing Anna, at the Corporate office in customer service, because calling and emailing the local office did not work. On April 18, 2023 Rikley emailed me and told us that he would send a refund for the work that was not done. It is now June 6, 2023 and nothing has been sent and again no one will answer my email or calls. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. THEY DO NOT HONOR THEIR 100% SATISFACTION GUARANTEE AND THEY KEEP YOUR MONEY AND DO NOT DELIVER ON THEIR PROMISE!

We have just had the most horrendous experience at Barlow Heating, Air and Plumbing. Before writing a review, we went into the office to work out our negative experience only to be met with Brad, the manager and was treated with such distain, superiority, and defiance. We had read that it would be good to contact the customer service department for satisfaction so, that is what we did.
We had a main water regulator in our home that needed to be repaired. My husband went to a major plumbing supply store and found the regulator to be between $80 - $120. Not being a plumber, my husband decided to call a local plumber thinking we could afford the regulator and labor of about an hour. We called Barlow's to set up the appointment. The technician came 45 mins past the two hour service window, went down and directly replaced the regulator. He also spent another hour to replace the expansion tank over the water heater. The technician complained that he was supposed to be at a play. and was late. it being after 5:30 p.m.. He promptly gave us a bill of over $1300.00 ($950 for the regulator that cost less than $120 and took less than 30 minutes to install).
We didn't get an explanation for the bill until they left and then it was an email with no explanation. We paid it reluctantly and went into the office the next day to talk to someone thinking this must be a mistake. To our surprise, my husband met by the manage, Brad. My husband was treated with so much pompousness, curtness, and arrogance that words cannot express the shock we felt.
We hope that anyone needing a plumber would use Barlow's cautiously.

I don't understand why an air conditioning service/repair company claims to be 24 hours 7 days a week. Today (Sunday) I needed an emergency air conditioning repair. I called the local number and got transferred to an answering service who took my information. NO technician has reached out to me and it's going on 2 hrs since I called. I think you need to change your service from 24/7 to possibly/whenever.

Be careful of this company; it's NOT the Barlow of the past (pre-Service Experts).

I had an estimate done for plumbing, but some of the information given seemed off. I had two other plumbers do assessments for the exact same thing; their information was in sync and made sense, but the complete opposite of what Barlow said was required by code to be done. Barlow had added tons of additional, non-necessary work saying it was required by code. After asking code enforcement (not mentioning that Barlow gave that info) said that there is nothing in the code requiring that type of work. SO BEWARE and get multiple estimates/assessments!

Since I've used Barlow in the past, I had them do a service. Paid for the service, and the bank showed the bank check clearing, but they sent me to collections a month later. SO BEWARE their office people don't have their act together! Plus, are slightly rude.

I'll never use them again and share this info with anyone that asks for recommendations. For total transparency, I am jaded now over the billing issue, which will forever cause a bias.

If you all are looking for someone to trust when servicing you HVAC unit in Salt Lake City...and you see Barlow Service Experts? Skip it. They don't honor their warranties, their word is not worth the air out of their mouths and take advantage of senior citizens. They made my mom wait all weekend for help with her AC and then basically told her that they didn't care if she has a warranty and if they wanted her to have them come out then she would have to pay full price for the appt. Just wanted to let you all know to save you from their crappy customer service. It's only supposed to be 100° today and she is 82 yrs old...

When we purchased our house several years ago we found that Barlow Service Experts had installed a high end HVAC system and the previous owners had maintained an annual service contract with them. We thought it was a good idea to maintain that relationship and entered into a PLUS Agreement service plan.

Something has really changed with this organization!

Three visits ago the technician tried to sell us a new water heater. We contacted our home owner warranty company and they confirmed that this was not needed.

Two visits ago the technician tried to tell us that our ecobee high end smart thermostat was garbage and tried to sell us a $1,000.00 smart thermostat replacement. Barlow didn't know this but I own a company focused on commercial building automation systems. One of the projects we have under development is a gateway for the ecobee technology so these statements raised a red flag as being blatantly false.

During the last visit an incorrectly sized filter was installed and we had to have a service call because it blocked airflow and the system shut down to protect itself. The filter was replaced but the same thing happened again. We requested a return service call on January 20th, 2020. The technician,Dylan, tried to sell my Wife, Nancy, a $700.00 project to raise the furnace to get better airflow after it has been working flawlessly for many years. When she rejected that Dylan tried to get her to pay several hundred $$ to clean the blower wheel. Periodic cleaning is basic maintenance that should be done during normal service contract visits. What Dylan did not know was that Nancy also works in our building controls business and saw through what Barlow was trying to pull.

I responded to the www.ServiceExpertCares.com web site and got no response. I then called the Barlow Service Experts Ogden office and ask for the manager. I was told that his name is Mike Hardy, he was not available and would get back to me. I never heard from him or anyone else.

This is not the kind of company I want to do business with. One star is a gift! It appears that it is time to look for another service provider. I hope the rest of Ogden does the same thing.
