In 1999, the Ames Company was acquired by Watts, leading Dan to join Preferred Sales, a firm representing Watts and Ames backflow products. Dan's experience at the Ames Company and Preferred Sales equipped him with in-depth knowledge of backflow prevention, and in 2003, he earned certification as a tester from the California/Nevada chapter of the American Water Works Association.
