Please complete your research before calling this company. They have a 4.9 on Google, yet a 2.4 on Yelp. I would advise to use the Yelp reviews. I called due to a heating issue. The tech was super nice, but nice doesn't/didn't fix the issue. After well over 3 hours at my home and still no heat, I was quoted an almost $2000 repair bill. Mind you, the tech stated ""I'm not even sure if this will fix the issue because I normally don't work on this system"". What's interesting is that he had worked on the same system previously. With that being said, I was informed that I would probably be better off to look into a new system. The ""comfort specialist"" aka sales man, came by and I watched from the comfort of my living room without answering the door. I contacted Weather Master's in Knightdale. The tech came out and his findings were vastly different from B&J's assessment. Needless to say, the problem was fixed in a little under an hour for less than the price of the parts that B&J and I didn't need a system after all. Buyer beware!!!
I had the B&J Service Plan for Plumbing and called when my tankless water heater was not staying hot. When they came I was quoted pricing options from $5955 for a new system to changing some parts for $1891. I did some research and then called Simpson Plumbing and they only replaced one part for $240 and the water heater if working great. The recirculation pump that B&J wanted to replace was working fine, only a check valve needed to be replaced. Other times when B&J came out for yearly checks of my plumbing systems they always seemed to try and upsell plumbing items. Needless to say, after this water heater incident, I cancelled my Service Plan with B&J and my advice regarding B&J is buyer beware??
Last year my unit went out and I tried to go with the company I had been using for years but got the run around so I contacted B&J and with in 2 days of the initial conversation with B&J I had a brand new unit. I called about servicing the unit and got an appointment SAME DAY. When I call the staff always sound ""bubbly"" and very willing to help
My mom called these guy to fix a leaking toilet and by the time they left they conned her into replacing a WORKING A/C unit with a new one. These people belong BELOW the jail.
Marcia B.B & J Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning was very reliable. They were quick to respond to my call and address my need (replace a restroom sink faucet). The company sent me a picture of the person who would be doing the job. He did an excellent job replacing the faucet. My only complaints were the quality of the new faucet that I purchased from them. The components were made of plastic. Secondly, they were very pricey for the job they did. Even with the senior rate I feel they were still over priced. BTW, they had to return two days later because the stopper malfunctioned and it needed an adjustment. Again, hey were quick to responded to the call. Would I use them again? Maybe. The reason for the three stars is for the quality of product they used and their price point to do the job.
Bella M.Was getting quotes to completely replace my split A/C plus water heater. Got several quotes, all around the $5500 mark, firm businesses with great reviews.
When 'Chase' came to my home, he barely looked at the unit, but instead tried to pressure me into letting him come back when hubs was home. Sales..sales..was so blatantly obviously all about the selling, which made me very uneasy about how they would perform after the sale.
Needless to say, my husband, who has been in the construction field most of his life was uninterested- and busy - people have lives - and just wanted the quote, which Chase grudgingly gave him at 11k-13k.
Haaaaaaaaaaa. No wonder. My husband told him sorry, not sorry.
The last company I would have faith in is one who literally wants nothing to do but give you a 'Home Speil'. Pfft. BTW, they said they could start the job 'tomorrow'. Huh.
Greg H.B&J heating and air was contacted to fix a mini split air conditioner in our house. When the two technicians arrived, they were shown both the outside and inside elements of the mini split. The technicians ""inspected"" and applied leak detector to the outside unit (ignoring the inside element all together, and stated a valve on the outside element was the cause of the leaking coolant material that rendered the unit inoperable. The technicians stopped looking for other possible leak sources once they found a leak in the outside of the unit. They subsequently put three pounds of coolant material into the unit and pronounced it fully operational. A week later, we called them back out because the unit was not working again and a service was requested for our main air conditioner. This second visit was when the technician decided to investigate the inside element with a leak detector. He discovered that there is was in fact not one, but two leaks in the coil in the inside unit. As a result, we learned he had wasted three ponds of refrigerant put into the unit. The technician was apologetic that they did not find the mistake however offered no compensation. They began working on the main air conditioner unit. During the process of their 20 minutes of work they pronounce the unit fully serviced and left the property. After trying to turn on the main air conditioner unit with the thermostat we discovered that the technicians had failed to replace the circuit breaker (they had pulled it out and not put it back in when they left the property) therefore the unit would not work. I contacted B&J heating and air expressed my displeasure with their work and told them that the unit was not working because they failed to put the circuit breaker back in and requested that a repairman come back to the property to replace the circuit breaker. The manager stated that ""well we do make mistakes and we are human after all."" I do not recall any contract that being human and making mistakes was a prerequisite for us to have to compensate B&J heating and air for their incompetence. They finally returned and replaced the circuit breaker at 6 PM.
In our nine years of living in this house and employing six heating and air-conditioning vendors in the local area, we can say, without reservation, that B&J heating and air was the worst provider that we had ever dealt with. The root cause of their problem is a lack of specific technical knowledge and follow through on the part of the technicians who came to the house. The incomplete diagnosis of the mini split air conditioner and the failure to reconnect the main air conditioner unit to the electrical box after servicing says everything about the quality of their work. B&J provided and estimate of over $4,500.00 to replace the mini split. We found another contractor that did it for $2,250.00.
Summary
Fact: B&J heating and air was contacted to fix a mini split air conditioner and service the main air conditioner in our house.
Fact: B&J heating and air did not properly diagnose nor fix the fault in the mini split air conditioning unit by their own admission
Fact: B&J heating and air-conditioning was asked to perform service on our main air conditioner unit and failed to reconnect the unit to the electrical system as part of the service that requiring a return visit on the request of the homeowner to fix their mistake.
Conclusion: B&J heating and cooling is not a reliable contractor .
Mitch troubleshot my issue and was able to figure it out before it got too hot inside the house. As usual B&J provided excellent service and knowledgeable technician.
I was VERY impressed with the professionalism and timely matter of the gentleman who came and addressed our problem! I appreciated the upfront written quote given, as well as the discount received. The woman whom I initially talked to earlier; ( by phone) was very kind as well.
We would absolutely use this company again in the near future!!
I called for a repair and the charged me $90 for an estimate. When I balked at the estimate they called someone else in and charged me an additional $500 for yet another estimate. Nothing done, over $500 out of pocket. I would not recommend using these folks.
