Our water heater stopped working about two weeks ago. Since that time, we've tried several of the different large plumbing services who were providing ""large"" estimates without even looking at my issues. For me, the very last straw was when I called one of the services I used at the very start of my issues. The new technician explained to me that the technician that the firm sent out the first time didn't do the work correctly but he (from the same exact company) would fix me right up for an additional $4,000.

It was at this point that I knew I needed to try a very different approach. I opened Yelp and placed a query for a plumber. Juan from A&Y plumbing and Sewer Services responded to my query. Let me just say that if you are a homeowner in need for quality work by someone who not only explains to you what needs to be done but ""also"" treats you with respect - this is the company for you. I have noticed in previous projects at my home that some of this large plumbing services assume that if you are calling them, you are so desperate to end your problem you will pay any ridiculous cost. I've owned my home over twenty years. I have at least a couple of instances where I knew I overpaid for subpar work and I was determined that I would be treated fairly in the effort. With Juan I felt in my gut that he would be trust worthy because he started out with ""let me see if this can be fixed and if not, we can discuss other options"". This was In stark contrast to the other service where the gentleman immediately told me, ""this isn't something you repair, it is something you replace!"". He hadn't even come to my home yet.

In short, Juan was able to fix it. He then walked me through the process he followed to trouble shoot the issue and correct the problem. I have an advanced degree in information technology so root cause analysis is something I truly appreciate! It doesn't mean i expected to walk away knowing how to troubleshoot this issue myself but for someone to just give me the respect of fully explaining ""what"" was happening and ""why"" we needed to fix/replace things.

For me, during a time when I felt like other services were treating me horribly - it was absolutely refreshing to be treated with kindness and respect. The cherry on the cake was that Juan's cost was reasonable and his work was awesome! This was one of those times where I very gladly paid his fee and I am already referring him to my friends and family. This is company is definitely a keeper for me!!

We began calling multiple companies as we had limited time in Chicago with my 95 year old aunt before heading back to Florida. Juan was quick to respond and come to give us an estimate. We showed him 3 areas on her 90 year old pipes that had leaks and he gave us a price. During the repair he found the leak was way inside the wall. He said he'd try to reach it through an access hole already in the wall but may need to go by the actual tile/tub side. Oh no we thought. He did repair using the access side. Every step of the way he explained what he needed to do. We also threw in a possible kitchen sink and cabinet replacement which he was ready to tackle with his teenage son and my husband but we decided not to do it in the end. He had already cut a hole in the counter top which was perfect and we are holding onto it for future use. His son Eddie, was a great laborer and very polite. We will never use anyone else for our plumbing needs in Chicago. No one could beat his prices for the amount of time he spent with us. Thank you so much Juan and Eddie.

I was having issues with maintaining hot water in my condo unit. After reaching out to numerous plumbers and receiving a variety of pricing I decided to hold my hopes up in Juan at A&Y Plumbing and I am glad I did. Juan and his son Andy were couteous and knowledgeable. What i liked about Juan was that he stuck with his original quote even though the job took longer than expected due to piping issues. How often does that happen? Most contractors I have dealt with in the past always tried to upsell and you end up arguing with them and who needs that stress? Not me, thats for sure but Juan was so easy going he made the whole process painless. After job was finished he explained thoroughly exactly what the job entailed. Another thumbs up for Juan. So in summation, I Would definitely RECOMMEND A&Y Plumbing services to anyone who wants an easygoing process, knowledgeable employees and work finished beyond compare. As Juan said before he left. I want to make sure everything is done right and my customers are my top priority. No lie there

My basement flooded after a night of rain. Called Juan to come give an estimate and he was at my house within the hour. He was very thorough and knowledgeable and replaced by sump pump right away. I will definitely recommend Juan and will use him for all my plumbing needs.

Juan is very nice, helpful and knowledgeable. He fixed the noisy running toilet and replace kitchen faucet for me. He can response quickly with quote based on pictures and videos, and take care of everything. Highly recommended!

I had a leak in my water heater and put a request on Yelp for a plumber. Juan was the first to respond and gave me a quote over the phone. 30 minutes later, he was at my house doing a hands-on inspection. He came back the next morning with a new water heater. He noticed that some of the pipes attached to the old heater were out of code, so he replaced them at the original price he quoted over the phone, even though the job took much longer than expected.
he noticed a small gas leak coming out of the area where the gas shutoff valve was and he replaced that as well. There was an extra charge, but I was happy to pay it.
I was very impressed with Juan's responsiveness, professionalism and price. I feel like I got more than what was expected for a lot less than I expected to pay. I highly recommend A & Y Plumbing

We had a leaking garbage disposal that we found out about on a Friday night. Juan came out the very next day and replaced it for me at a very reasonable price. He also fixed a p trap that was about to leak with some spare parts that he had in his truck.

On top of that he also gave me some great advice on some other plumbing projects that I'm working on.

Juan was very personable, knowledgeable and eager to help. What struck me from the beggining was his transperancy. He gave me a quick quote for labor, and stuck to the price something that is a bit rare with contractors if I am honest. My water heater was too old to service( rusted out anode rod) but I feel confident in that I now have a great plumber to call when issues come up. Thanks!!!
