If I could give six stars, I would! Sung is perhaps the best contractor we have ever used for work on our house.

To give some perspective, we first contacted Sung on the recommendation of two friends who had their gas water heaters replaced with heat pump water heaters by him. We called him on Labor Day weekend and he promptly called us back and scheduled an appointment to check out our house (water heater location, etc.) the next day. We were concerned about getting the water heater installed by the end of September so that we could get the full rebates from PCE before September 30th. To make a long story short, Sung was able to install our water heater by September 21st and we received our rebate checks shortly thereafter. I mention getting the rebate checks timely because it requires some paperwork to be completed by the contractor and Sung was prompt with that also.

Here are some things that I like about Sung and which, I think, set him apart from other contractors: 1) he was very prompt and reliable - he would show up at the time he told us he would, he would call or text us to update us as to the status of the project (when he was getting the product, when he would be by to install, etc.); 2) he was always looking for ways to save us money (he was able to find us a rebate that was even better than what PCE was offering which netted us another $200); 3) his work was good and he followed up with us to make sure everything was working well.

I have since recommended Sung to a number of other people. My only regret is that I didn't write this review earlier. I wish him success in all that he does and would not hesitate to use him again if we ever had a plumbing project.

Awesome Plumbing lives up to its name. Sung did an amazing job on my HPWH and thought through every step of the way to provide me with unbelievably helpful information and creative solutions. About a year ago, he came by to give me an estimate. At the time, he reviewed the location of my gas water heater, the layout of the house, all of the plumbing to the kitchen and bathrooms. He let me know that although HPWH are quiet, if he placed it in the location of the old one, the house would essentially act as an amplifier for the humming of the pump and it would probably drive me nuts. He suggested putting the new one in my garage. He was not pushy and it seemed like this was entirely to my benefit as he still planned to wrestle the old one out of its cramped location.

He then got back in touch with me about 10 months later, saying he wanted to share some information and review the site. This time I was ready, having done research on what I'd need to do to electrify my house overall. He informed me of phenomenal rebates that would start in November and we talked about details of how to handle the project. He also recommended an electrician to do the conversion of a 240V outlet (Treehouse) who were efficient and very cost-effective.

Sung came back to install the HPWH in the garage and haul away the old one. The installation is so professional and clean. The earthquake bracing is neat and solid, the lines and insulation for them are straight and clean, and he helped me get set up with the AO Smith app so I would qualify for rebates. He handled EVERYTHING for the rebates and the permit so it was easy and seamless for me. Net cost to me for the HPWH and installation (excluding city permit) was $220. Seriously, a total deal. My old water heater was 11 years old, about the age when my previous one conked out.

I highly recommend Sung for all of your plumbing needs but especially HPWH. He is knowledgeable, kind, and does amazing high quality work.

We highly recommend Sung Kwok, proprietor of Awesome Plumbing Inc. Sung's work for us is exactly what we want from a plumber. Expeditious yet thorough, did not cut corners to complete the jobs faster, cleaned up during work as well as after completion. Also, Sung is friendly.

Work so far:

1) Capped off the natural gas line in our kitchen - we switched from a gas range to an induction electric range, and got the BayRen $750.00 rebate which required the gas line capping.

2) Capped off the natural gas line in our laundry area - we switched from a defective gas dryer (and the matching washer) to a GE All-in-One washer/heat-pump dryer, and got the BayRen $250.00 rebate which required the gas line capping.

3) Replaced two of our original toilets (36 years old) with two TOTO Drake toilets (from Costco). Sung did all the shlepping up stairs and down, and removed the old toilets after job completion. All in about 3-hours!!! Fantastic!

If you just found this review, you can enjoy your life without worry about the water/heater issue, also the plumbing as well. I've never met any guy like Mr. Sung from this field - he is honest, reasonable with the cost, very detailed, fast, accurate, etc. I really do not want him to be famous, but I decided to share this guy with all. Hope you will never be worried about the water/heater & plumbing issue from now on if you are in Northern CA.

Replace gas water heater with heat pump water heater along with a recirculating pump. Mr. Sung did an excellent job. He noticed that the first hp water heater had damage after it was unboxed, and promptly had it replaced by an undamaged unit the next day. He proceeded to install the Hpwh that day and finished so we were able hot water that evening. I will happily recommend Mr. Sung for any plumbing job.
