Auggie took our money, LIED to our home warranty co, and prevented us from getting our sewage problem fixed until after Christmas.


Two days before Christmas, AVD plumbing was sent by the home warranty company. Auggie came out, was in our house for 10 minutes max and said we needed a sewage contractor. All he did was look around like he has x-Ray vision through the floor. He said once we saw he was gone from the driveway, we'd know the paperwork was submitted and we could call the home warranty company to send out the sewage contractor. He did collect the trade fee.

After hours and the home warranty co refusing to send anyone, we learned that Auggie submitted paperwork stating he rodded out the line! He wasn't even here 10 minutes and he did not try to do anything. It's disgusting he took money from us, lied and prevented someone else from coming out. He even told us it was an emergency situation since we have 2 kids under 2 with sewage backing up into the home. We couldn't shower or flush toilets for Christmas Eve or day and had to get a hotel.

Owner of company came out himself and fixed my garbage disposal. According to the time frame that was confirmed, he came right on time and fixed issue. He provided very professional service and even demonstrated on how I can reset/fix disposal jams if any occur in future.

I took the day off work to have the water heater worked on under our home warranty. I booked this a week in advance to get a half day off. They told be to keep the gas OFF on the heater for safety reasons. The 9-noon window turned into 4:50pm even after I had been calling all day. I had to take a full day off. 4:50 a nice tech showed up. Agreed the thermostat was bad and repair could justify replacement. Now when I call them they say they are troubleshooting with the distributor. What does that mean? I have had water heaters worked on in other houses. They are not even giving info to home warranty. They did cash the $100 deductible same day. Still waiting. Giving the chance to remove this review if they get this solved today.

I set up an appointment a week and a half in advance to have my sump pump replaced. They did not show. I called and complained and was assured that due to my inconvenience that I would be the 1st appointment on my chosen day. I received a text stating someone would be here at 8am. The day of I received another text stating that someone would be at here at 9am. I called to complain again and was told someone would be here shortly. It is now 10am and no one has showed. I asked for a discount for my inconvenience and was told ""We're still charging"". Completely unprofessional and unreliable. Take your business elsewhere!

Damaged just i installed wood floor refused to arrange for repair until i paid a bill less than cost to repair wood floor. Threatened to put lien on house if i didnt pay charges that i did not even pre approve. So i paid bill and they've not responded to promise to repair wood floor. I even had blankets to prevent damage as they removed water heater they could have used, but didn't. Try DRF Installations for top of the line plumbing. Home Depot uses them for all northern il, southern Wi and suburban Detroit plumbing installation work you buy via Home Depot.

I have a home warranty through HWA. My water heater went out Monday evening so I called HWA who said AVD Plumbing would be contacting me. They called first thing Tuesday morning and said the technicians would be here between 9 and 11 am that morning. The technicians got here at 9:30, and said I needed a new water heater. They sent the information to their boss, and said he would file a report with HWA. They said hopefully by Friday I would have a new water heater. They were very nice and polite. My check was cashed the same day.

Wednesday evening (today) I called HWA to get an update on the claim. They said they hadn't received a report from AVD yet. She placed me on hold while she called AVD, but they didn't answer the phone so she left a message. She said I could call them too to find out why the report hadn't been filed yet.

I called AVD and talked to Augie. After telling him the situation, I let him know I was frustrated because the technicians were here yesterday morning and HWA still didn't have a report. He told me that I ""shouldn't be complaining to the person who can get me a new water heater"" and that I'd been ""complaining for 2 minutes wasting his time"". I told him I guess that's why you only have 2 stars on Yelp!

He called HWA and canceled the water heater replacement so they're sending me a different plumber tomorrow. Thanks Augie! I was sure to tell HWA all about your services, so hopefully you won't be getting more business from them.

UPDATE: HWA contacted Center Guard Plumbing to install the new water heater. They were here at 10 AM (they were contacted last night around 8 PM), installed my new water heater, and were professional, friendly, and answered my questions. I didn't have to wait to get HWA approval for the new water heater, and because they had one on the truck, there was no wait. I couldn't be happier! I even did a 5 star review for Center Guard Plumbing. Augie, you did me a HUGE favor! Thank you!

If I could give negative or zero stars, I absolutely would.

This company is a disaster and completely unprofessional. Unfortunately, they were who the home warranty company sent so we had no control over it.

First, I worked from home that day because they were coming to look at the issue (which was water leaking from our upstairs bathroom down to the laundry room directly below it). They gave me a 2 hour time window of when they'd be there. Well, nearly two hours passes (10 minutes until 2 hours was up) and I decided to call them to see if they were still coming. The guy answers the phone rudely and says they'll be there soon. This was my first indication that this wasn't going to go well. When they did arrive (late), there were two guys and neither had anything except a flashlight. One guy didn't speak at all the entire time and the other one (the ringleader) asked me to show him the problem.

We ran the tub/shower and he looked upstairs at the tub (said he saw nothing) and then I showed them the laundry room where the leak was taking place. He simply looked up at it with his flashlight and said that the leak was in the subfloor and he didn't have access to it (untrue on both accounts). Also, they couldn't provide access to it, so we'd have to have someone come out and provide them that access before they'd come back and do anything.

They were there for 10 minutes, collected their $100 deductible and left. Don't worry, they cashed that check THAT SAME DAY.

What a scam.

By the way, my fiance's uncle came over that following weekend to assess the issue. The problem was the faucet on the tub was installed incorrectly (by the previous owners). He took it off, put it on correctly and we've had no issue since.

The fact that these ""plumbers"" didn't see the water dripping down from the tub faucet is awful. I feel as if this was a problem that any plumber should have been able to notice and resolve quickly.

They are either completely terrible at what they do OR they are lazy and just trying to take your money without doing a thing. Or both.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

After my husband and I took the day off work to be there, AVD Plumbing showed up with no tools, did no inspection of the problem, said they didn't have enough time to do the repairs, they'd have to come back another time, then charged us a $100 service fee for coming out. When they were called about coming back to actually do the work, they said they don't do that type of work. We had to file a fraud claim with our bank to reverse the charge.

Horrible service and very unprofessional. I had AVD out for a water heater repair. He said he smelled gas from the water heater. I said I'm going to call the gas company. He said not to since they will shut off the gas, but wanted to bring it to my attention. He did absolutely nothing. He looked at the unit and left. He gave me no receipt and no invoice. Then i get a call that its beyond his repair and had to call someone else. I refuse to have this company come out. Please save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else.
