If you are considering this company in part due to high Yelp reviews, you should know that one way they get them is to offer "good faith discounts" for positive reviews.

I hired Austex because I had several zones that were experiencing low pressure. The technician came out while I was at work and "fixed" the issue for a $200 valve replacement. When I came home I realized only one zone had been remedied, and there were still two additional zones that had not been fixed. Cost to finish the job: $200 more. Why the tech did not test ALL the zones the first time is beyond me. I was offered no discount or regrets that the job was not done properly to begin with. Had I known the total cost upfront I might have made a different decision.

The system works better than it did before, so two stars. And I should have insisted on knowing the cost before agreeing to the work. However...

The most insulting part was the "offer" to reduce the price (no doubt from some arbitrarily inflated rate) in exchange for a positive Yelp review. Shady.

I had a great experience with Austex. Frank came out and quickly found my broken pipe and took care of it. I will definitely call them next time I need a repair.

We moved into a home that had a great many issues with the sprinkler system. Frank came out and saw that we had a leak at the main water valve that I hadn't noticed. The grass had turned black but I had no idea why until he showed us. He then looked at our back patio area and suggested we put in a drip system in the extensive garden area that wasn't doing very well. He spent over 7 hours working tirelessly on an extremely hot day. He fixed everything, added the drip system (which was no easy task) and added water lines into my flower pots without even asking, making it so much easier to take care of them! We even have an extra zone added should we decide to add more shrubs, trees, and flowers in the back! He reset our timers so that each zone was finally getting enough water, adjusting the drip systems specifically for special needs like our myrtles and our rose bushes. There won't be any need to ever look again for someone to maintain our sprinkler system. I highly recommend them. Frank was amazing! The price was more than fair, given the scope of work performed. You won't be sorry if you use them.

I usually try to find some reason to give a legitimate business more than one star, but not in this case, given the nonsense I was subjected to.

Had this company come out to my house for a so-called "tune up" about six weeks ago. The guy showed up three hours early and insinuated that I had the appointment time wrong (doubtful). More importantly, the guy didn't seem to know what he was doing. I had to point out a couple of (to me) obvious coverage problems. (He did manage to correct those.)

He told me we had a broken pipe that needed replacing. $50 for that, if I recall. I assented. I didn't watch him do that part of the job. As I was writing the check afterward I asked him to show me the broken pipe. The guy fumbled around in his truck and said he couldn't find it. (!) It was pretty clear to me that there was no broken pipe. Either this guy was an aspiring con artist, or severely, incredibly lacking in communication skills.

I called the company the next day and spoke to the owner (I forget his name.), relating the experience. He seemed genuinely surprised. He said he would look into the matter and give me a "partial refund". Well, it turns out that no refund was forthcoming. (I just found out today that my check for $185 cleared, reminding me of the whole affair. Nothing received in the way of a refund.)

Overall, a most unpleasant, unsatisfactory transaction.
