My wife and I used Atlas Plumbing for a bath room remodel last month, and we were very pleased with everything about the process. Their work was top quality, and everyone with whom we talked or met was helpful and courteous. At our request, they also recommended other professionals to work with them in aspects of the remodeling process, and we were very pleased with them too.

I'v owned my 1967 house now since 2012. I've had plumbers for several occasions though the past 4 years, some of which were just one guy, more like a handyman, some were a couple man operation, and some were big companies.

Out of all of them, I can say that Atlas has impressed me the most. Let me tell you why. My story is a bit long but I would love to save some other homeowners headache and trouble in this same situation.

I just had a gas leak - apparently in 1967 they didn't really have anything else to go off of but black iron pipe. Well, when that's laid down underground, it starts to rust. So here I am, sitting in my yard, smelling rotten eggs, and wondering if my house is going to be the next on the news with "HOUSE EXPLODES" as the headline. I called Atmos, they confirmed and shut off the gas to the house. Yay. No hot water, no cooking. Wife and Kid use both those things a lot.

I called Legacy Plumbing. After the guy confirmed that the leak was certainly outside between the meter and the house and not inside the house, he gave me the lowdown. $5,300 for 80 feet of poly pipe, risers, hand dug trench, and permit. And over a week lead time. Also tried to sell me on some stupid gold membership that allowed me to have no service fees and gave me a "discount". I didn't feel like they were really focusing on my issue - it was about the sale of me for a long term contract. I had to pay them 400 dollars to do this work and give me the bid. Sad.

I called three more places: Dallas Plumbing, AtomicAZ, and Atlas. The pricing on these three folks were roughly the same - $3,800 - $4,000.

Dallas just emailed the quote, but I felt like I was just another guy calling for help and they had plenty going on.

Guy from AtomicAZ came out and walked through everything with me. Also seemed great. But his timeline was a day later. Can't fault him there - I called him out of the blue, and he had other stuff scheduled. I like the fact he made an effort to come and sit with me and give a quote. I would check with this guy if you are in a pinch.

However, Sonny, the owner of Atlas, called me directly and talked to me about what was going on. He was able to give me a lot of comfort on the phone that he knew what was going on and they would be able to handle it. He alerted me to the fact that the city of Dallas requires permits and all applicances hooked up would be subject to inspection and potential need for safety upgrades. To me, the most important thing other than not spending a fortune was that he could have his guys out there tomorrow digging and would have me up with gas a whole day earlier than everyone else. So I said yes.

I am glad I did. Sonny's team came out the next morning to dig the trench. I was surprised that it wasn't just a couple more day laborers from off the corner. I talked to these two African American gentleman and they had been working for Sonny for several years. Apparently their grandfather also worked for Sonny doing the same work. I loved that fact.

Sonny himself showed up that morning and inspected the house. We looked at the appliances. Sure enough, some appeared to need upgrades. However, Sonny was pretty connected and mentioned he would call some of the inspectors and get an idea of what might pass or not so he wouldn't spend my money without need.

The trench was dug that day (75 feet!) and the plumbing crew showed the next morning. I had mentioned in passing to Sonny the day before that while we were replacing everything, I would like to put a gas connection for a grill at the house. I mentioned it to the crew, and they didn't have the fitting - but since I wanted it, Sonny drove the fitting up to my house from Dallas - he was apologetic, but this was totally on me - I didn't make it a point, it was more me musing than anything else. So I was impressed he would do something so small to make me happy.

I chatted with the plumber doing the piping as well - I am a chatty guy :-) - and again, was surprised to learn that this plumber had worked for sonny over 20 years he said. I loved that. Obviously Sonny was a great boss and a decent man to have such apparently loyal employees.

The rest of the project went fine. Everything was upgraded that absolutely needed it, the inspection was green tagged with no issues, and gas was on the morning of the third day since they started. Given the size of the job, I think this was amazing.

Do youself a favor and call him first, and don't worry about if its the right decision. I know I will be calling him first next time, and not worrying anymore in the future.

Excellent code compliant licensed service. Walked me through gas water heater vent components with exacting detail. Anyone with any plumbing requirements will be served very well to by calling Atlas. Charles Richardson 08/08/2016.

What a scam place. Charge $168 per hour. They quote their fees at $42 per quarter hour so it doesn't sound as bad. Charged me $650 to replace a leaking shower valve cartridge and look at a hot water heater that didn't work. The hourly fees start the minute their truck pulls into your driveway not the time actually doing plumbing work. I was billed $168 per hour while he was standing around, doing paper work, flirting with our nanny and talking to me on the phone about what needed to be done. He even left my house to go get the part and says he deducted 30 min for travel time. My problem is that there is no way he could have gone to get a part and be back in 30 min. I do not live anywhere close to a plumbing supply store. Probably made a stop at the Golden Arches for lunch at my expense. There were no repairs on the water heater because it was under warranty. Replacement of the valve should take about 20 min for a plumber to do. Will never recommend this company. Consumers stay away!

They were very professional and competent. They very clearly were experienced. They fixed my plumbing issues (replaced a garbage disposal, I provided the replacecment, and replaced a shower spigot).

However, they overcharge. They sent 2 people for a 1 person job (the second man mostly stood there, occasionally handing the first man something) and charged me for both. They also charged me for 1 hour 15 minutes of work. I had started a timer when they walked in the door, and they were done at 52 minutes. When I pointed this out, they grudgingly took the cost down a little (still charging me nearly double what the estimate was).

I'm not sure if I would use them again because of this.

I would not recommend Atlas Plumbing. The representative that arrived at my house this morning was unfriendly from the get go. In addition, he was not in good physical condition which makes it difficult to climb into an attic and walk around. He was breathing heavily just walking up to my door from the van. He proceeded to tell me he couldn't get to my water heater although plumbers have made it in the past and never commented about it being difficult to reach. He was here for about 10 minutes, 5 of which were spent getting up the attic stairs.

From the initial contact to completion of the requested work I found Atlas Plumbing and their associates to be
professional,experienced, and very personable. The team of Eddie and Mario were knowledgeable and completed the task providing additional information and expertise. The cost of the work was well worth the peace of mind knowing it was well done. Thank you Atlas Plumbing!

Imagine pulling up to your pro-golfer boss's house at 6am in the middle of February to take him to the airport, only to find him using a squeegee in the master bedroom due to a busted frozen pipe and water pouring in from under the floorboards. Once the city turned off the water it was time to call a plumber. First company I called didn't answer, so I called Atlas Plumbing and Ben answered immediately. Arrangements were made for 10am the next day and by the time I arrived, Ben and the fabulous Atlas crew had already fixed the problem. Atlas Plumbing should always be your FIRST call if you want it done right.

my dad had a blocked sewer line. He wasn't sure who to use as Plumbers typically can't be trusted. Well that's not the case with Atlas plumbing. They came out and un-stopped the line in half an hour. They were professional, courteous, uniformed and actually asked if there was anything else we could do while they were at the house. I thought that was a nice touch. We will use Atlas plumbing in the future! Thank you again!

I just moved to Dallas, and was unfortunate enough to need a plumber right away for a broken kitchen faucet and garbage disposal (ugh). I felt a little helpless. I found Atlas through Angie's List. What I liked, and why I'm taking the time to write a review, is how they treated me with respect from the beginning. As a single woman, I am often worried about service companies taking advantage of me. Not these guys -- they were helpful and put me at ease from the first phone call. I spoke with Ben, and he explained the entire process and pricing model over the phone, and put no pressure on me to go with their company. I felt I could trust them, so I hired them to come do the work. All went smoothly. They were professional, and I felt the price they charged was very reasonable.

I hope I don't have to deal with any more issues any time soon, but if that happens -- I'll definitely call these guys again.
