Minor leak turned into a significant repair. I may have misunderstood the $60 Service fee when I made the reservation, but I thought it would be credited or be applied toward the bill. Actually, I was charged $110/hr plus parts, plus service fee. The leak was very small over night (just a few drops). Good bad or indifferent, you be the judge. The pressure valve was leaking (4.5 hours of labor) $859. Basically, the labor cost ends up just over $125/hr. Maybe it is me, but I thought it was quite expensive.

Be aware- This is not the Atherton of the past, Atherton was bought out and now under new owners. Waterworks, the first plumber mentioned Kastle plumbing being part of the buy out. He also said they would be using the Atherton name.
Let me begin with the positive. I used Atherton when they were just Atherton. I could not have been happier. Jerry the plumber fixed a faucet that had frozen and burst. I then called them for a bathtub leak. Again, very happy. Jerry also came and installed a backwash valve? in my basement to prevent the sewer from backing up again. These jobs were all with the old Atherton, privately owned. Reasonably priced, I was actually surprised thinking it would be more. Guess they spoiled me.
Fast forward to Jan 2022. My toilet was leaking so I called the trusted Atherton. The plumber came out and looked and changed the water supply line. I dont recall him getting down and looking to detect a leak or flush the toilet after to see if it was fixed. NOPE, it still leaked. He did only charge 1/2 hour which was good, but it wasnt fixed.
I called to let them know the issue was still there and someone would need to come after 3, when we were home. I was informed there was no way they could schedule after 3. So, we waited a week until we were able to be home. SO for a week, there was no toilet to use( thankfully, we have another in the basement.
The Plumber just left, fixed it and listened to my frustration. He did not charge me( he is an employee from the original Atherton)
I also had gotten an estimate to replace the fixtures in my bathtub/shower. Last year, when it was Atherton alone, it was reasonable. Around $600.00. We were not able to have it done at that time so asked for another estimate. It is now over 1000.00. I will not be having them do the work. I understand inflation. Old Atherton charged by the hour, this one is set pricing, nickel and diming the customer. I wonder if it would be done correctly. Once trust is lost, it is not regained.
I cannot recommend this company. I will be searching for an independent Plumber/company that puts the customer first.
If you do decide to use this company, Request a plumber that had been with Atherton.

The water line to my home was leaking underground and causing pooling water in my front yard and an outrageous water bill.

Since the old piping was BlueMax, a new line was the preferred fix. As this was a large project I called several companies to get estimates.

A-Atherton quickly rose to the top of the list. Jerry came out to quote the job, came and gave the estimate and thoroughly explained the scope of work. I was very happy with the work Jerry and the team did and their professionalism arriving when they said they would, communicating and aligning on expectations, doing quality work and cleaning up afterwards. They finished on time and within the aligned estimate despite some hurdles that arose in the process.

While it's never a good thing when you find out you have a plumbing issue... plumbing is something you can't ignore and need to take care of. I was pleased with the work they did and I will be using A-Atherton for my plumbing needs in the future.

Only contact A-Atherton Plumbing if you have extra money to throw away. The gentleman came to unplug a toilet, I told him is was not unplugged because of the way it was working. He tells me I just need a new toilet because it is old. Did not use for several days because of a hospital stay. When finally home, flushed toilet and it overflowed again. Job not done correctly. Called, same gentleman came out, only this time he actually did the job right but charged the same price as the first time. Said they don't warranty drains. I stated that I had told him the first time that it was still plugged somewhere and this was very bad customer service.
Contacted the office about this type of customer service and was blown off by. So, if you don't mind being taken and enjoy bad customer service, this company is for you. Otherwise, don't call them.

I cannot say enough good things about this venue!

During Thanksgiving Dinner, I learned that my basement was rapidly filling up with water.

I called Logan HVAC and they suggested to call them.

Man! What a great bunch of guys! Andrew and Josh were prompt, personable and very professional.

They fixed it before I had time to pay them!

For any water problems (and Noah or Moses aren't around)

call them 434-4443

So UNBELIEVABLY disappointed with this company. We have been trying to contact the company for two weeks now in regards to our main drain line being replaced. We had them out for a quote on Wednesday the 22nd and were told we would receive a PHONE CALL the next day with the amount of the quote. We received no phone call. I called into the office on Friday during my lunch break to inquire about this and was told that they were planning on MAILING out the quote that day, but fortunately she opened the letter to give me the quote over the phone. They provided us with a quote of $3,800 to $5,000 dollars, which is a pretty vague range. After taking this into consideration and receiving a mailed copy of the quote, we had to call back for further information because the mailed copy didn't provide any details regarding the materials that were going to be used and how the work was going to be executed. The woman in the office was unable to answer any of our questions and stated that the technician that originally came out to look at the drain was on vacation, so they would reach out on Monday to send a new technician out to answer our questions and give us an exact price. WE had to reach out to THEM on Monday and were told that they wouldn't be able to get a technician out until WEDNESDAY. At this point, we have already been without use of the drain for almost two weeks. We call TODAY to confirm our appointment and are told that a technician would be at our house between 12pm and 2pm. It's now 2:42pm and STILL no technician OR any correspondence from the company. Their service has been absolutely horrendous and I will NEVER recommend this company to anyone. Dishonest and unreliable.

Mixed review... after dealing wither several no-shows and triple bid by R$#@-R#$%et, Bill came out right away. What a relief to find a true professional. His bid was comparable, considering the weekend and into the evening. Took him about an hour. Good job. After he left I found he had damaged my brand new tank. I'm sure it doesnt affect the functions but at least say something and apologize. Speaks to ethic level. Saddens me and even tho I got good service, I wont call in the future.

Wished there was a 0.

Very rude and unprofessional. Must be a Mom & Pop shop since they appear to answer from home. I'll explain:

I called to schedule an appointment to have my main water valve replace and because I asked for a specific employee (that apparently no longer worked there). The lady (assuming it was the husband wife because they answer Hello) became very rude. But I went ahead and scheduled for the next day after 4 pm.

I called back respectfully to cancel the appointment because I found another company that came out and fixed it the same day. And NO, It was not scheduled with the employee that no longer worked there.

She said ""I guess you found (the employee) and HUNG UP ON ME. I tried to call back to explain and she would not answer. But, instead sent me to an answering machine with a message that ""employee no longer worked there."" and it would not take a reply.

Called due to toilets backing up in the bathtub and needed the drain cleaned out. Left messages on their emergency lines. No response for 2 days. They don't do emergency's on the weekend. I only waited 2 hours for a response to our call before calling Roto Roter. I suggested they leave the information they don't work weekends on the recording. Highly recommend Roto Roter. They don't charge any more for night, weekends, or holidays. We will never call A-Atherton again.

This is the worst company. They repeatedly told me my yard would go down. After six months I called again and the office manager Debbie yelled at me and told me that's what was in my contract and there is nothing more they will do for me. I am so disappointed. I only went with then because they said they would put my yard back the way they found it. Even my property management company complained about how horrible it looked and Debbie said that's just what it looks like when you have to did up a pipe. You should have read your contract. No where in the contract did it say my yard would look this bad. Their contract should come with pictures. I even at one point asked her why she was so upset, when I'm not yelling at her and I'm the one with the messed up yard and she said she wasn't upset and there is nothing more they can do for me. Just horrible customer service and very rude for no reason. She kept cutting me off and yelling at me. They don't even have a company to recommend for you. Save yourself some time and go with a company that really cares about their customers.
