At Your Service Plumbing
Company Overview
In 1984, K & M Plumbing Service, Inc. was launched, which later became At Your Service Plumbing, Inc. Our primary emphasis was on residential new builds. In 1999, this family-run business, initiated by Mr. Rod Thaut, our ""plumbing wizard,"" quickly established a strong reputation for exceptional service and skilled workmanship, with a commitment to prioritizing the customer’s family. We carry on that legacy today, honoring Rod's memory after his passing in 2010. At Your Service Plumbing, Inc. is unique among home plumbing providers in the Tacoma/Pierce County vicinity. We aim to provide exceptional customer service in a compassionate and professional way.
Your needs as a client are our top priority, which is why we have Client Care Representatives available 24/7 to take your calls. Our Personal Plumbing Professionals offer their expertise to help you maintain your home's plumbing system.
Kathy is the General Manager, leading the At Your Service Plumbing team. Recommended Customer Reviews
First, I want to clarify that as a once loyal customer and past Diamond Club member, At Your Service Plumbing Inc. did all the right things to negate their name as well as guarantee NO recommendation or future business from me.
** Being fully aware that Kathy Thaut will write a snarky response, I am stating now that I am not interested in any discourse.
This is my opinion, that has been framed by the treatment of At Your Service Plumbing Inc.:
1. I do not object to paying for expert service and have respect for the work that the plumbing technicians provide. After paying the Diamond Club annual fee ($106.00) each year, however, JR would call repeatedly to schedule the 'free' inspection at THEIR convenience, not mine. My family members had some serious medical issues that precluded scheduling the 'free' prepaid inspection by At Your Service Plumbing Inc.'s insistence and was treated with disdain by JR when he could not pressure me into scheduling according to their needs.
2. They've performed jobs totaling in excess of $12,000 which we paid promptly without external financing. They did not, in violation of L&I LAW, provide a Notice of disclosure. ANY contractor who provides a bid of $1,000 or more is required by law to provide a notice of disclosure, regardless of whether the homeowner requests it.
3. I requested a bid for a new kitchen faucet to be included in a large job they performed and my request was brushed off. Now I know why: By ignoring my request they could 'create' a new service and tack on more fees.
4. As I had already paid my fee for the Diamond Club membership, I called to schedule my prepaid inspection and asked for a price bid for the new kitchen faucet as mine had finally failed and I was forced to shut off the hot water as it was shooting out of the spigots:
They flatly refused to provide a cost breakdown. I was shocked as I have always been willing to pay for services without demanding any sort of discount, AND this was a dire situation . They REFUSED to provide the cost of a new faucet + labor; instead they gave me an inflated bid.
5. I was obliged to find another professional who had no problem providing a bid that was reasonable (Half the cost for the same faucet I had chosen), and warrantied.
6. As the Diamond Club fee was paid but the free inspection was not scheduled in accordance with their rules, they made $106 for doing literally, nothing.
7. Because we did not pay their Diamond Club fee this year by their deadline, I received a letter from Kathy informing me that my membership has been canceled: I say GOOD RIDDANCE. I have a great plumber now, whose work is warrantied without financially soaking his customers.
8. Word to the wise:
a. NEVER EVER hire a contractor who does not provide a Notice of Disclosure.
b. NEVER EVER hire a contractor who pressures you, the customer, to agree to anything you don't feel comfortable spending money on - get a second opinion.
c. NEVER EVER hire a contractor who conceals costs, resorts to coercing or colludes a customer into paying for a blind bid. SAVE YOUR MONEY: It IS YOUR Money - Choose a contractor carefully and contact L&I if you suspect consumer fraud.
I am a home remodeling contractor. I frequently refer my clients to At Your Service Plumbing. My clients all speak very highly of them, and I am frequently thanked for the referral. They are a great company. I wouldn't refer my clients to anyone but the best.
They told me my septic line was not plugged, and that I needed a new toilet and a gizmo that reduces the water pressure to the house. So then the next day, when the whole house is flooded with sewage, it turns out that the septic line is plugged after all, the toilet works fine, and the next plumber says we are fine without the gizmo. I don't think I would trust this company again.
Bethany S.Dan was friendly, efficient, and clean. I had a mighty back-up, and Dan gave it his all, and ended up saving me hundreds of dollars (I thought I was going to have to get a new toilet).
Alissa G.Over priced and they seem proud of it. Why do that do people? Not the way to respect your customers and community. Get quotes before paying them! Don't make my mistake!
We bought a house built in '58 so the plumging is very old & knew the pipes needed repair sometime in future. Water leaked down Sun. My hubby & neighbors repaired a hole in the kitchen pipe but the drain got clogged up Wed & spilled over. During the visit, my hubby found another hole which was leaking so we decided to replace the whole section. After it's done, it shoul last for another 50 yrs!
Andy was professional, nice, clean (wore booties) & upfront with the costs. ($49-vist during day, $79 after hrs). We decided to join their Diamond Club about $8/mo & got 25% off on the costs of labor & parts so Wed. visit was $231. Today's repair & replacement is pricey but think it's worth it. since Andy has to cut out walls & pipes. We're figuring we may need their services in the future since the house is old & we can cancel DC anytime. We bought enzyme ($59 single) so it could eat the junk in the pipes for future prevention. No more lyes! It doesn't work.
AYS plumbing has 27 years of service & all their plumbers are certified.
Jennifer S.All of the staff at At Your Service are shining stars, and examples of what customer service should be everywhere. But Sherri stands out because of her down home friendliness and helpfulness--you get the feeling there is no problem you could come up with that she couldn't help you with. I am so glad I discovered this company. I tell everyone about it--hopefully yelp will get the word out even further--if you need a plumber in the Tacoma metro area, this is the company you want. I have been with them for over eight years now and am very satisfied.
This was an exceptional choice, and Dan was terrific. Our problem ended up being minor and he detailed several solutions for short-term and long-term problem solving with detailes explanation about the benefits of each. His thorough knowledge of plumbing was very helpful, and I definitely learned a little more about the subject than I expected. It really helped to have an understanding of the issue, and some plumbing basics so I could make a good decision, and create a plan for our home. I will definitely keep their number handy.
Robert Y.Andy the plumber who came was a nice guy, but t's a shame the ""$50"" fee was for just him driving out here, I thought it included the look around to see what was possibly the issue. WRONG, after looking around for about 30 min he said he wanted an additional $200 for the ""investigation fee.""
We have used At Your Service to replace all of our outlet plumbing and are planning to have them install a new water heater. The service is always excellent, courteous, and the work is top-notch!
