Good handyman are hard to find. I've dealt with a bunch of contractors who disappointed with poorworkmanship, always showing up late, never finishing anything on time, and even abandoning projects.
Jim and his assistant showed up early, worked quickly, completed tasks which I thought would be much more involved, and did it all well.
I definitely hope to use him again the next time.
The only negative thing I would have to say after reading these reviews is I did look him up on CSLB and it does says his contractor's license expired in May. Jim please get that fixed for your sake and the sake of your customers.

I wrote 1 review already, I don't know how but he must have had it taken down by YELP. Anyway, this time I'll make is short and not so sweet.
Jim seems to be a nice guy, but, as far as doing a good or even pretty good job at MY house it didn't happen. He was supposed to install a walk in bathtub for my wife. Install meaning move it to the correct position, attach the plumbing and electrical.
He asked me to get a 20 amp breaker at Home Depot. That night I went and purchased 1 20 amp breaker. The next morning I woke up and looked at the instructions that came with the walk in tub and the instructions clearly state that 2 -15 amp breakers are needed; 1 for the water pump on the tub itself and 1 for the electrical. I had to point that out to him as he didnt already know.. additionally, there is a vent pipe in the wall that vents bath room smells out through the roof to outside. When some one uses the bath room upstairs the vent pipe bangs really loud. When the wall was opened I notice that the vent pipe wasn't secure to the wall frame. I asked Jim to strap it down with strapping. He didn't do it, he used foam, and I didn't want foam in that area, I wanted R-19 insulation, like the other walls.
There were MANY other issues, to many to mention.
I looked up Jim's license on line and as of May of this year his Contractors License expired. He's not supposed to be operating a handyman business without a contractor's license. Since he doesn't have a current contractors license he cannot work as a contractor/handyman. Additionally he lied on his license about worker comp. He stated he didn't have any employees. Well, when he was doing my job he had the same guy coming with him. Seems like an employee to me.
I WILL NEVER HAVE JIM DO ANY WORK FOR ME.

Jim should write a homeowners guidebook. He has a good eye for things that could be problems for you soon or down the road. He shares his knowledge freely and has good advice for how to best proceed with an issue.
Jim moved a gas line for us and did a good job keeping the work neat. I like to do a little diy myself and he was fine to do the work I asked and let me do some of the drywall and other finishing work.

Jim's a nice guy but, unfortunately, I don't think I'll be asking him to fix anything again.
He created an eyesore the last time. Originally, I had an A/C overflow pipe sticking out of the corner of my concrete steps to my front porch. It bothered me, so I had Jim move the pipe and patch up the cement.
He did a good job of moving the pipe, but a really poor job of patching up the cement and matching the cement color. He added a dye to the cement mix that is far too dark and red-brown -- which makes it look like my steps have a rust problem and can be seen from 100 ft. away. Instead, he should have applied a light-colored cement stain or dye after the cement was set and dry. Also, the added cement is slightly angled and not completely level with the older cement.
Now I'm going to have to hire someone else to fix it.
I think he felt a little bad about it, so he didn't charge me for the poor cement patch job (just the pipe move). I've added an extra star for that. I don't normally like to write poor Yelp reviews. But, this time I feel it's warranted.

Jim found a fast and easy solution to several of my plumbing problems. He fixed a running toilet and a stuck faucet. Others were quick to suggest replacing fixtures and that can become expensive. Jim takes the old-fashioned approach so rare these days to investigate and fix the problem rather then immediately replace! I trust his opinion on maintaining my old 1950s house.

Did not show up when he was scheduled to come, then did not call or email me back when I tried to reschedule.

A few weeks ago I contacted Jim to have 3 toilets replaced in my home. After receiving a prompt and reasonable quote we scheduled to have the work completed Sunday morning. He arrived on time and had the job done in 2 hours. I have been very happy with the work and would contact him again for any repairs or home improvement projects in the future.

It really doesn't get much better than Jim. No joking! He does superb work and ALWAYS shows up on time. I've had him replace old water valves and most recently he put in a ceiling fan for me. I totally trust him with anything home related. Aside from the clean work, he never leaves a mess to clean up and only does what needs to be done! No upcharges and NO BS!! Best of all, he charges very fair and reasonable hourly rates. If I can't fix it myself, I will continue to call on Jim!

Jim was recommended to me to replace an old ceiling fan. That he did plus installed a new LED porch light and other tasks. He did everything expertly and efficiently. He has a great deal of knowledge re most home related issues and dispenses pertinent information. His fees are quite reasonable. So, yes, I'm adding to the list of things for my next service call.

Jim is a fair man with lots of knowledge and experience. He installed 2 security doors and a sensor light for me. He's a man of many trades ! He's yet to install my surveillance cameras ( mount and run cables) with a upcoming appointment . I also asked out of curiosity if he can handle a sewer lateral project and yes he does that too lol.. ""Ask Jim to fix it"" Is his slogan and for sure he lives by that..
