Recommended Customer Reviews
John B.They were terrific.
Our furnace had issues and they made sure someone came out that day.
(Take that Sears).
Jim C. was consciences and thorough.
He figured the issue and was done in an hour.
(Take that Sears).
They also installed our new central AC unit when our old one conked out during a long hot streak a couple of years ago. After waiting for 5 weeks for Sears to schedule an installation, ARS had a new one installed within 1 1/2 days.
I totally recommend them to anyone who needs AC, heat or plumbing repair.

I had a first appointment of the day with them @ 7 am no one showed up till 8.40 and got call that ""he was running late"" .
It never happened to me all these years with any service company that no one will show up till almost end of appt . Would not deal woth someone who can not keep an appt or have courtesy to let me know !
Had kitchen sink faucet, garbage disposal and pipe replaced by ARS. Water from this sink tasted awful after and smelled awful. Supervisor came and took sample, said it might take three weeks for results. That was January. I called in March for results was told supervisor would call back. No call. Same thing in April. Same thing in August. Now Sept and I give up.
Also after doing several plumbing things in the past for me including installation of new sink, I asked to have the exhaust pipe extended to meet code and was told ""we only do minor plumbing"" again I give up.
After writing this review, I did receive a follow up from a PR person at the company who made attempts to rectify the situation and offered some complementary service which I declined simply because I didn't need it but did appreciate the follow up call and it did indicate to me that someone at the company cared.
This is my second review for this company. The first time, I had a similar problem as it appears others have had with coming to the house and still charging the estimate fee even though we had them complete the work. The owner called and we got it all straightened out after he learned what happened, and I updated my review. Fast forward a few years and our A/C unit needs to be checked. It sounds like there's something wrong with the condensate drain and I can see the pipe is frozen outside. I called to have them come out, after all they did redeem themselves. I spoke to the woman who answers the phone who informed me that the unit needs to be unfrozen before they will schedule an appointment. I told her I would be happy to have someone shut it off immediately knowing how hot it is, it will be unfrozen by tomorrow so we can schedule for then. No. It has to be unfrozen before they will even consider making the appointment. So, it's 100 degrees out and I need to have my unit off for a day then call and wait at least another day for someone to come by. Since I will not be taking the unit apart myself all I can go by is the ice outside--since it's 100 degrees out I can guarantee that it will be thawed. Nope. Won't schedule. It's ok, I called someone else . We've officially taken our business elsewhere, they CLEARLY don't need it and I don't need that.
Robert came out. The issue I had was that the units proposed seemed to be oversize and they only use Lenox. Yet they were pricier than other proposals I got that also used Lenox.
The really annoying part was the ""salesy"" stuff where Robert would not send me the stuff ahead of time. He always had to meet with me to go over the proposals. I can read. If I have questions, I'll ask you about that. I don't need to meet with you every time. Shoot me an email or call me. It was just an old school sales tactic.
I do give them credit for showing up as scheduled.
I received a quote from ARS of Boston to convert my home heating system from oil to natural gas.
I am glad I obtained several quotes from other HVAC installers (who similarly have high ratings on Yelp and Angie's list) as ARS's quote was astonishingly much higher than the rest.
Candie V.I spent $7100+ on a heating a/c system installed by ARS 3 years ago. Since that time it has broken down 4 times, leaving me to spend over $1,000 in repairs to the "" new"" system. I am definitely not happy with the substandard furnace or the overinflated service call bills. ARS installs $7100 worth of an HVAC system in my home and then proceeds to charge an arm and a leg to keep it running. Not my idea of a stellar customer service arrangement.
I implore you to shop around. Local HVAC installers seem to care more about their customers than these larger outfits....
ARS is affiliated with home depot. While at the home depot they try to sell you on home HVAC repairs with free estimates. I had some projects in mind so I gave them my info. When I called ARS, I spoke to someone that didn't know where to direct my call, and so she said she would have someone call me back.
Lo and behold, no one ever called me. So I called again today to get more information. Some one different answered. She had no idea who I was, or that I had called before, or that someone was supposed to call me back.
She also had to idea where to direct my call, and then proceeded to tell me she was going to charge me $99 for the free estimate home depot had promised.
These people are unorganized with poor customer service. I'd advise looking elsewhere.
Jason arrived to provide an A/C Tune Up and Inspection. As soon as Jason removed the cover of the unit he saw a leak, and told me it was a bad capacitor. Jason explained that my system is from 1988 and recommended replacing the unit. I had plans on replacing the unit anyway but Jason just confirmed my thoughts on doing so. I asked when it could be done and Jason immediately called the office to get a price for me and get a time frame. To my surprise I was told it could be done the next day in the afternoon (which was fine with me). The following afternoon a young guy rang my bell and said his name is Matt and he is here to do the install. Well, at first I said to myself this is a kid and can he do this job? Matt was so professional, courteous and very knowledgeable for someone so young. I really was impressed. Matt did the entire installation, swept the area for me where the old unit was removed before putting in the new unit and tested the system to make sure everything was functioning properly (which it was). It was such a pleasure to have Matt in my home.
I also would like to mention Linda, with whom I spoke with when I called the office to compliment the service provided by ARS. Linda was so pleasant and thanked me so much for calling the office to let them know about my satisfaction with the work performed. I highly recommend ARS of Boston to anyone seeking an honest company, professional employees and a job well done. Thank you.
Michael P.Fantastic service, they expertly installed our Lennox Prestige central air unit, giving us multiple options to choose from based on efficiency. When I asked about installing a second zone for the basement, instead of trying to upsell me they actually convinced me that it wasn't necessary as the unit they would install should keep it cool, and it has! I also use them for my yearly tune-up and highly suggest others to do the same as the great price allows you peace of mind knowing that everything is running as it should be heading into Summer. Every person that has come out from John to Chris to all of the techs have been nothing but exceptional, taking the time to walk through everything being done, and the little things like putting on shoe booties so as not to scuff or track in dirt! Always on time and never trying to overcharge, these guys (and gals) are the definition of excellent service.
