Great customer service all around. We called in the morning and by noon the same day, James had arrived at our home ready to help remedy our problem. He is very smart in his trade and explained in detail the problem with our boiler and the best solution.

Office staff was very professional and always kept us informed on our work order.

Superb HVAC company; we will hire them again in the future.

I hired ARS-Boston to fix my HVAC unit. They charged me a few hundred dollars for a repair, then they told me they couldn't fix it and I needed a new system, so I took their word for it. After paying for a new system, as well as a crane and required police detail to install it ($10,000 in total) the system had the exact same problem I had originally: no air flow. No apologies, no accepting responsibility, just ""Ha ha we got you for a new system and all you needed was a $5 replacement fire dampner in the duct."" I would go as far to say this must be an act of fraud due to the simple nature of the problem and their inability to correctly diagnose it. Cannot believe a company would treat a customer like this, and not have the integrity to at least do something to attempt to make things right. Have to wonder how many other customers were told they needed a replacement HVAC system when they really didn't; if you are considering a system with this company please be careful and make sure you get a second opinion.

This place is great if you have money to burn. They show up for a ""diagnostic"" charge you $150 for the pleasure. They then ""recommend"" several thousand dollars of repairs and blame it on the homeowner for not changing the air filters frequently enough. Apparently changing air filters lowers the usable life on your air conditioning unit from 15+ years to 2...thanks for the info ARS!

Update: Apparently I'm a glutton for punishment, so I requested a quote for a replacement air handler and inner coil. 2 weeks, 5 unreturned phone calls and several 90 degree days later, still no quote. As a Home Depot installer, they apparently don't mind stuffing previous customers...I'll say a prayer for all those Home Depot customers suckered in to using them!

Update 2: Found Boston Standard on Angie's List, much better overall experience, would highly recommend them instead of this motley crew!

This is an update to my previous post. As I indicated before the installation team was fantastic. Scheduling the service was easy. My initial challenge surfaced when I did not get my $1500.00 rebate. After numerous calls with the rebate department at ARS I was unsuccessful at making any progress. The rebate was to arrive within ten weeks and I just received it this week (almost a year later). That said, once I posted my initial review of ARS, I was connected with an ARS customer service representative. Had I not been contacted by Linda I am not sure I would have received my rebate. I wish that the rebate department had connected me with her earlier on in the process. Linda was professional, friendly, responsive and made sure to follow up on a consistent basis to see if I had received my rebate. In addition, ARS send a check for $250 for the problems associated with the rebate which I appreciated. In the end, if you have an issue with ARS ask to speak with a customer service rep. The quality of work is great.

Got to ARS through Home Depot after I requested to get a new water heater installed for a house I just moved into. Install was easy and fast and techs were really good. Ended up calling back a month or so later when my furnace was acting up and needed to call them in for emergency check-in. I got their tech Anthony who was fantastic, knowledgable, and on top of the fix. Walked me through everything and schooled me on what to look for. Really great tech and experience and I'm having them back for my A/C tune-up soon.

I had my heating and cooling system installed by ARS of Boston last July 2017. December 28, 2017 I called for the lukewarm heat I was getting from the heat pump. It was 10 degrees outside and inside was 63 degrees. We were cold. Technician showed up and he said that the reason why the heat pump was not running properly because we covered the air conditioning unit outside and he claimed that it may damaged the unit.He raised the temp to 73 degrees and running on emergency heat. So far the highest temp can go inside is 63 with the help of our old fireplace otherwise it stays at 58 degrees. Its been ten days since the technician came. I called three times. Very poor service. We endured freezing cold inside the house for ten days now. The guy told me to call again next week 01/09/18 and on and to use a space heaters. If I didn't get any service this week I may have to get a lawyer and to hire somebody to fix the problem. My heating is still under warranty. I am getting feed up. I spent $14,000 to upgrade my heating system to avoid freezing, we ended up getting frozen inside our house. My husband is 81 years old.

I've been using ARS of Boston since I purchased my home three years ago. I thought they were providing me with good service and pricing as they've had to come out several times. On October 28, 2017 I called them because my heat was not working. Please note, in August 2017 they supposedly did a heat tune up for me which theoretically should have caught any problems. Now back to October. They were not able to come out until the next day. So they came out on a Sunday, October 29th. The visit ended with the service guy telling me I needed a new control board for my furnace. I inquired as to how much that would cost. He said he didn't know and that someone from the office would call me. On Monday, I received a call from a gentlemen at the office. He quote me a price of $3,426 to replace the control panel. I was like wow. So I asked him how much was the part. He became short with me and said ma'am it's all bundled in the price. I was taken off guard and in the middle of working so I said OK call me when it's in to schedule. After getting off the phone I began googling furnace control boards to find out how much they cost and how much to have it installed. After much googling I could not find a control board that cost more than $150. In addition at the highest end it should have only cost about $600 for the entire job. Now ARS has still not called me regarding the part. Guess it's a good thing that it hasn't been too cold. But the point is ARS was going to charge me $3,426 to do a $600 job. WHAT A RIP OFF!!!!! Price gauging at it's best. I'm even more upset because I'm wondering how much they've ripped me off in the past because I've had them out a few times. Very disappointed in them and what they are doing. I will no longer be a customer and I will be advising Home Depot of their practices as this is where I learned of them three years ago. My advice will be to always get multiple quotes. Hopefully there will be one honest one in the bunch. Needless to say a family friend was able to purchase the piece at a local store for $95 bucks and installed it with no problem. Glad I went with my instincts on this one. $3,426!!!! WOW!!!!

Aaron and his team did an outstanding job of installing our tankless hot water system. His team was very professional, prompt, courteous and knowledgeable. Aaron was very responsive from my initial interaction with him and this continued through job completion. It's refreshing to interact with a company that embodies all of these qualities and this consumer is very appreciative. If your looking for the ""right"" HVAC company, look no further....Aaron and his team are it!

This company was going to charge me $2,953 for steam boiler maintenance. I missed a year when it didn't get cleaned but it should have only needed a couple of cleanings and minor repairs (the boiler is only 7 years old). I asked my plumber to give me a second opinion. Here is what he wrote:

""Lisa,
I am sorry to see they are trying to rip you off. The employees must be on a commission.

A thermocouple goes for $34.12 not $164
Main steam vents cost $44.09 each not $137.00
Radiator vents cost $24.50
McDonnell Miller low water cut-offs cost $325-$350, not $1,100.
Boiler drains themselves cost $16.00 each, not $300; rough guess on a tee would be $15.00...but why do they want to install drains?

We charge $134.00 per hour. My guess you may have 2-3 hours.
A thorough cleaning will include checking all radiator valves and vents. We replace the vents as necessary and repack any leaking radiator valve. If the boiler is real dirty it may require a few cleanings..
You do not need a service program. Just money in their pocket
All steam boilers need to be serviced yearly

Also, I did a quick search for Nest products. You can get them yourself and there is a Mass Save rebate. Do not buy them from him at $603. If you register with Mass Save you may be able to get Nest from them.""

So why didn't I go with my tried and true plumbing company in the first place? Because I got a coupon from ARS. Beware the coupon... and ARS, the rip-off artists.
