Kim P.ARS is the worst customer service experience in chicago. The gross incompetence is company wide. From the techs that did not know how to open the sewer main despite the fact we had the tool to open with. They tried to claim the company that did the install did it wrong. Rather than admit they were clueless. But here's where service is grossly negligent. I called and booked a few days before. I was given a window 8 am- 12 pm on Black Friday. I stayed home waiting. At almost 11 am no text, call or email update saying my appointment was changed. So I called. I was placed on hold. 10 minutes into hold my other line rings but I didn't hang up lest I lose my place in line. In the following 4 minutes they called 5 times while I was stuck on hold waiting for the customer service manager Chris to talk to the tech Daniel and find out when he planned to get to us. But instead they canceled my appointment and blamed me for not answering the phone while I was waiting on the damn manager to fix this. It took 4 more calls. I was changed to between 12-2. No one came. Then 4-7, and finally after I called an additional 2 times to ensure arrival, a dipshit shows up with no tools. Which would have been ok. Because we own the tool needed. But they we're too stupid to use it. I do not recommend this company unless you like being lied to, left on long holds, lied to more, blamed for their failure, then ultimately left unserviced. I give negative stars and Chris, customer service mgr has no authority whatsoever so don't bother. This is a company destined for bankruptcy.
We made an appointment to have our furnace's serviced with ARS two weeks in advance on two separate occasions. The first appointment day we get a call saying they could not keep the appointment because they were short staffed. We agreed to reschedule. The night before we called them and confirmed the appointment and the time. the next day no show. we get a call from them saying that they were running late and can we move your appointment back two hours. reluctantly we agreed and yet they never showed and never called. Real customer service going on here. Will never attempt to use them again.
Charles P.Shower Back up performed on 11/06. Initial employee arrived at 8:45am and the second around 9:05am, work started at 9:15am completed the job and paid all transactions included at 1:45pm. Cost was $3800 total. Was informed it would be all day and instead half a day. 10 feet of pipe remedied and a couple drain items as it was an old house. Asked for itemized receipt and was informed it would be emailed. Glad it's fixed, but seems to be a rip off, please look elsewhere as they priced this with my wife and did not offer fair market rates in the market see above for 4.5 hours by 2 people at $3800.
I would not recommend this company. I had a water leakage and was originally scheduled for an appointment for Saturday. No one reached out, so I called them and found out that they had my phone number wrong. They rescheduled me for Sunday, gave me a window from 8am - noon, no one showed up or called me. I called them at 12:15 p.m., and they said I was next in line and that I would get a phone call from the technician. No one called or showed up. I call back again at 1:45 pm, and they are saying that they can't reach the technician. They have no regard for other people's time. Wasted my entire day
Howard L.I did a pre-emptive furnace and AC replacement project on a 25 year old unit. I had weak signals over the past couple of years that any time would be a good time to do this replacement and I didn't want to wait for an emergency. I got several quotes and ARS (American Residential Services)/Home Depot came in at a good value, but they were also not the lowest quote.
Bill Schaafer and Bill Cavallone installed the new Carrier furnace and AC system for me. I was pleased with their professionalism and services. Keith Hickman was the knowledgeable salesman for the job and he also came through for us on getting a 15% discount for a next day opportunity installation. They do about 80% of Home Depot's HVAC business and 100% of Lowe's, so they have a partnership and backing of some big businesses which I liked. In other words, as opposed to say a small family business, I can count on them being around for decades. I noticed after the fact, lol, that they have a lot of poor reviews! I hope their poor performance days are over as I saw no signs of it myself though admittedly it's early days still. Time will tell I guess as I expect to use this system for 20+ years going forward. BTW, my brother used ARS/Home Depot for a new furnace and we will both get a $200 check for the referral business.
Paulina L.TOTAL SCAM. STAY AWAY! SCAM SCAM SCAM SCAM SCAM!!!!!! Called to fix second floor furnace as it was not blowing hot air, the technician comes for the inspection, says needs to be cleaned... for $528... with a regular garage type vacuum!!! Not the professional type of HVAC cleaning but a garage vacuum cleaner. Asking him so why does my Furnace not work still and the air upstairs is still not blowing... HE SAYS HE DID NOT CHECK THE UPSTAIRS FURNACE AND JUST CLEANED THE DOWNSTAIRS ONE... the one that was always working fine... I have no words for this!!!!! Do not call this company.
They were too busy trying to get us to purchase something. We needed a leak fixed and they wanted us to purchase a new air conditioner. When we said we didn't need one they told us we needed a new water heater.
Lena A.These people claims to be on the high end but they purchase from Hone Depot. I purchased an A/C unit in 2015 with a standard warranty. It went out this year 2023, but they didn't acknowledge my warranty. Instead they wanted $2,500 to fix my A/C after I paid $3,522. RIP OFF! RUN! Excuse given is contact our customer service. They whine about cost and inflation. Best report them to all agencies that protect citizens! Horrible company!. Don't waste your time with customer service. File a complaint!
Avoid this company for any of your HVAC needs. We made the mistake of hiring ARS through Home Depot for furnace and A/c replacement in September 2001. July 2022 on a 95 degree day, the whole furnace iced over. The coil was completely frozen over and there was coolant spilling all through the unit. After having two technicians out and nearly a week later, we were told this was due to bad installation (done by ARS).. this cost $164 dollars out of pocket, just one year after the 10k new until was installed. Now, fast forward to one calendar year later (2023) SAME ISSUE!! typical waste of time with two separate appointments and two separate technicians to diagnose the issue. Less than three year old unit now needs a $500 repair which points back to the original bad installation. The blower motor needs replacing. ARS would not work with me on the cost. ARS would not take any level of responsibility to the possible damage the bad installation did on the longevity of the parts that were affected. Total amount of repairs now on a three year unit is close to $800. I never write reviews and understand that things can happen but please don't make the expensive mistake I made by hiring this company for HVAC. I wouldn't even trust them with drain cleaning.
I called today at 1:30pm as their has been a smell like car exhaust in our house since yesterday morning. (Some quick googling suggested coolant leak when there is an exhaust smell. ). First I was given an appointment for tomorrow, then I called back and asked if it was possible to come today. I have had their service plan for many years after having them install a new hvac 8 or so years ago. I was told that yes, they could come today between 4-7pm and because I had the service plan it would be $59.00. Fantastic! So I waited until 6:55pm to call and see if they were still coming, the rep ""called the tech"" to verify, said I was next and he'd be calling me soon. I asked ""but he is coming tonight, right?"" - her ""yes"" left me with something less than confidence. So then I called back after another hour - I was told by a very nice lady that there was no appointment for today and they'd investigate and call me back, waited another hour and a half, called back and talked to yet another person. They have no way to see who I talked to previously- how is that possible? Then the prior agent called and we all talked together and confirmed only an appt for tomorrow. If they show up, I will cancel my service plan after they leave. Have watched this place go downhill for the last few years. Very, very irritated. Hopefully it is nothing dangerous.
