Willie H. did one of the most thorough and helpful service checkup on my heating/air unit I've ever seen. He even discovered a slight mistake from the original installation of the unit that was causing my AC coolant to leak slightly. Willie went above and beyond, and I'm greatful for it.

We used this company October 2012 to check over our HVAC unit. While here, the tech recommended a duct cleaning. Since we had just gotten all new flooring 5 months earlier, I thought it would be a good idea as there must be a lot of dust and debris in the ducts and we do have allergies. A technician, Matt, came out in November and hooked up a large devise in the basement to the HVAC unit which is used to collect debris from the ducts. Upstairs in the main living area, he used a tool for what I believe to be called an 'air whipping' which is like a spinning duster blown by a small hose. This was done to all of the vents. When I came downstairs, the tech showed me what was collected. I was surprised that there was not much more. The cost for this was $375! And this was supposed to be a 'deal' since we paid for 2 visits of check-up/tune-ups of the HVAC unit in October. Two weeks later, I checked my filter and found a lot of dust and clumps and just assumed this was residual left over from the cleaning. However, eight months later, I still find myself changing the filter every 6 - 8 weeks. When my second HVAC check-up appointment came in July, I explained everything from start to finish to this technician, Mr. Manley, at which time I told him I felt this was the BIGGEST waste of money we had EVER spent. He told me he would put in the order to have a technician come back out and re-clean the ducts at no charge. They just want us to be happy. Several days later, I received a call to schedule the appointment. Our scheduled time on said day was to be between 12 and 2 pm. By 3:40pm, I left the house, having never received a phone call from anyone at ARS. Later I found a 'sorry we missed you' tag on my door. He had arrived just before 4:00pm. I called ARS Universal back on the following Monday to reschedule. On the day of our appointment, while I showed the technician all of the vents and the HVAC unit, I again explained our previous experience with the cleaning and my conversation with Mr. Manley. The tech apologized and said there must be a miscommunication as he was told he was there only to 'look at the vents and change the filter'. He was not told to clean anything. He then stepped out to call his manager. He then relayed their conversation to me that if I wanted the ducts cleaned, I would have to pay again. He then promised to speak to the manager again in person and I would receive a call back in a few days. It has been OVER a week and I have heard from NO ONE at ARS Universal. I do NOT recommend ANYONE wasting their time or money with this company.

The quality has deteriorated in the past year. We have used them for over 10 years and have a maintenance contract providing maintenance at least twice a year. In May, I scheduled a routine service call for early morning 8 to 10 am. After multiple calls by me and broken promised by them, a technician arrived a 5 pm. In June my AC broke and I agreed to replace it. It took them 3 visits to install it and have it fully operational. Even though they knew it was not working after the first day, it took multiple calls to get a technician to come out. 24 hours without the unit working at all. Be prepared for broken appointments and technicians who may not know how to do the job. Very disappointing service in 2013.

We've been using them for about 3 years and are impressed with their professionalism and service. I highly recommend them.

Universal reached out to me and asked for a chance to make it right and sent out a senior tech who replaced the filter and cleaned the coil, as well as another inspection of the system. This was a lot closer to what I consider a """"tune up"""". I am satisfied with their response to my complaint.

Their in-office meeting """"ran late"""" so my service man is three hours late? Not great customer service. Service men have always been great but office support needs help

I would not recommend using this company. I called them when our furnace stopped working earlier this month. The tech claimed 2 components were broken (pressure switch and inducer draft motor) and quoted me about $900 to fix the issues. He advised me to replace the entire furnace as it is 13 years old and might not last much longer. He was going to give me a """"deal"""" at $2200 to replace it. I told him I would think about my options and let him know by the end of the day. I called a called a second heating company and had them take a look. This tech assessed and found that the problem was minor (pressure switch was stuck). He fixed the problem and the furnace has been working perfectly since then (total cost of his visit was $50). The bottom line is I feel like Universal Heating was dishonest. I dodged an expensive bullet and hope this post might help others avoid a similar situation.

620% Markup on Parts Buyer beware!!!!!!! It seems that every time they visit my home to do routine maintenance they always seem to want to shake the money tree. First Visit A/C tune up The service man tuned up (Replace the filter) my A/C then recommended a duct cleaning. 2 Weeks later my unit started to back up because the drain was clogged. I had to irrigate it myself and put in a secondary tap on the line. I went for the duct cleaning. This went fine but not entirely sure if I needed it or not. Maybe I was the sucker here, I am not sure. Second Visit A/C tune up The service man tuned up Heating Unit the then hen recommended close to $500 worth of repairs with price quotes for the parts that border on the ridiculous see below: 1) Defective Blower capacitor ($186.66). I found this for $25 2) Hot surface igniter (~ $150). I found this for $19.85 3) Flame Sensor ($138.47) I found this for $30 Total of $75 vs the rip off price of $474.00. That's a whopping 620% markup WOW... This is simply incredible considering the unit is only 9 years old. How could 3 items not currently failing now all showing signs of serious impending failure all at the same time. This smells like a shake down and it is. So I asked the service man to show me the defective cracked igniter part so I could see it and he was not able to show me any crack. Everything I have read so far of these types of scams describes this as typical 1) Multiple items failing at the same time. 2) High price parts. If it smells like a scam it likely a scam. Again I am disappointed in Home Depot for selling me this maintenance plan.

IF there were zero stars I would be happier! Repair guy M came out & said air cond unit was fried probably by lightening & we needed a brand new unit so he would send sales team. This was false. The gentleman on July 16th that came to my home told us the air conditioner was irreplaceable. He told me he would most likely need a sales team to come out before he even looked at the unit. I asked him if lightening hit the unit & he said yes it fried the entire thing. He said the compressor & fan were broken. NO they were not! I did not trust him & the following day I called South Air out of Cartersville GA to send someone professional and trust worthy. On July 18th a repair man came to my home and said the compressor, the fan, and unit were all in perfect condition. The unit wasn't struck by lightening & we had air within an hour because he replaced two small other parts and cleaned the coils. I didn't appreciate being lied to by Universal Air and having the gentleman mis-represent himself by acting as if he knew what he was doing! South Air Company of Cartersville was amazing & honest! Highly reccomend as an alternative!

I can't recommend this company since after paying $80 to have my air conditioning system checked, and after being assured they would check the ducts, they performed an extremely quick look over the system and did not check the ducts at all. As soon as I had signed the contract to pay, it seems they were in a rush to have a quick look and leave. I felt this was a waste of money and misleading to boot.
