Price gouging. I needed a toilet mechanism replaced. The plumber took roughly 1.5 hours to put in a new mechanism. $600. On top of that, it's not a simple push on the handle to flush. I have to push and hold the handle down. I called and complained. A technician came and looked at it; he said it's fine. I've been a ARS client for over 15 years; I'll be using another company in the future.

A complete rip-off. Tried to charge an outrageous amount for a simple clog five times what was advertised. The ""plumber"" stated that if I did not like it I could call my regular plumber who was on vacation. Scam - I do not mind paying a fair price or even more for quick service (we called them the day before) - I think this is a ripoff --try someone else unless you have money to burn. Plenty of drain companies.

Called them for an emergency rooter service 1.5 days later they showed up. The dispatcher said I must have misunderstood when they wou show up. High prices, slow service and rude office staff.

This company is a rip off. They do not provide an invoice. They will not disclose and hourly rate and cost of materials. They quote a flat rate. And their bills are outrageous.
Do not let them in your home or business. Their company is a RIPOFF!

I know there are a fair number of bad reviews here, and I can only speak to the mainline clog they cleared for us about 75 feet from our cleanout. Jesus was super prompt and came out quickly on a Sunday. Was it expensive? Yes, but my preferred drain company was closed on Sunday, and ARS was not, so they deserve credit for that. They were quick and they cleaned up well after themselves, which is always a plus.
I am not telling you to ignore the other negative reviews. I can very easily see how a company like this might not be popular because they get you when you're up against a wall. But for me and my experience, it was good and professional.

We had a plugged kitchen drain and our regular plumbers were backed up after the heavy rain we had the day before. Lendale came out and did an outstanding job for us.

My renter had a plumbing problem, they called ARS. Lendale was the guy who arrived, and I had the renter put him on the phone. He sounded angry that I couldn't get his name right even though his speech was slurred. He told me he needed to pull up the toilet, clear the clog, and gave a reason why he wouldn't warranty the work, the whole time talking down to me with an angry tone.
After his proposal, I asked ""if you got on the roof and ran a snake down the vent, wouldn't that clear the drain?"" He said ""probably, but I'm not going to get up on the roof"". Then he said ""LISTEN, blah blah"" and I stopped him, and told him to stop the condescending tone. He said ""I think I'll be going"" which I agreed was a good idea.
Later, their office called me and some woman with a bank-teller's voice, a voice of authority that makes you feel guilty, told me calmly but sternly ""we will not allow customers to DICTATE instructions to our workers"". When she was done I calmly told her what actually happened, that Len-DALE was rather rude, proposed unnecessary work, and that I ASKED him if working from the roof would work. She was like ""oh, uh, oh..."" and I pointed out that Len-DALE might have told her something that wasn't true.
Of course I called another outfit, Blue Planet, who arrived within 30 minutes, climbed on the roof in the rain, and cleared the clog.
LOL: ""we won't have customers DICTATE to our workers""... maybe try having your workers not be rude to your customers... just an idea.

We had the best experience you could ask for with Lendale! He went above and beyond, trying everything and never gave up. Super cool guy, highly recommend.

The cost was high, but i had an emergency of flooding, which needed to get done right away, so i didn't have time to keep calling folks. The thought was that because i was about to have them swap out cast iron, they would give fair pricing to replace other portions of the sewage line that potentially could fail. I was proactively trying to avoid future plumbing issues as a very untimely issue. I assumed I was getting the whole main sewer line replaced, but they wrote up language where they only covered exposed pipe under my crawl space. I paid 10K+ to resolve issues and remove risk associated with aging pipes only later to discover they didn't touch a large portion. Initially, I was happy that the emergency issue got resolved, but then I would say their pricing practice and honesty are not fair to the customers as they don't give you the full story.very disappointed.
After the costly work, I ended up with a blockage experience that I hadn't had prior. A technician came to snake my lines after backup was discovered.Their technician now said I had deteriorated pipes outside of the house, and it was causing blockage . I asked several times for quotes to fix or resolve and was promised, but I never got anything via email text or phone call.
I had another blockage issue and the technician came out again to snake the pipes thru the cleaning out but this time they said they found a piece plastic and a piece carpet padding in the lines that had just been replaced.(really odd it wasnt found before) and i didnt witness this being pulled out.
After the job, the second time, the technician did not put the cleanout cap back on, so sewage backed into my crawlspace over the next day . I've texted the technician and the agent, and so far, there have been no responses. This requires another insurance claim for restoration. No acknowledgment from ARS. Shop around and make sure they give you the full store about inspection so they aren't price gouging.
I've had to have multiple other plumbing companies out, and each one was really surprised that the cast iron was not replaced when the other lines were replaced as it's all the same age.
Disappointed customer

So, I went to Lowes to see about buying a tank water heater and inquire about installation. Customer Service took my info and said one of their ""partners,"" would contact me. A few minutes later I got a call from ARS Rescue Rooter and was told not to buy it in the store because then they would not install it. Kinda fishy, but OK, fine. Save me the trouble of schlepping the thing home. We set up an appointment for an estimate. The guys were punctual and courteous and we had a pleasant conversation. But, the estimate was laughable, especially since I knew the retail cost of the heater. I understand the ""big boys"" have their overhead and all that, but ~$5,000 for labor, maybe 2-3 hours? I don't know about Lowe's other services, but in this case, the installation service would not have been a good value. It was at the high end of 6 other estimates I got from local San Diego plumbers. So, by all means buy your water heater from Lowe's, but find an independent plumber to install it. There are some honest ones out there.
