Arnold (license 939350) the plumber from Arroyo Plumbing and Drain Company, San Jose, completely lacked customer service.


Context:
The property owner contacted Arroyo Plumbing and Drain Company (San Jose) to get assessment for a couple of units in our apartment building. We had a scheduled meeting with a plumber (Arnold) on Tues. Sept 7. The plumber (Arnold) stated that he could fix the plumbing issues that day, but we would need the water turned off between 11am to 4 pm. The property owner was eager to fix the plumbing issue and decided to start the work.
As you can imagine temporarily turning off the water on severe hot day was not ideal for tenants. I also recognized that it was a hot day, and the plumber had a lot of work to do. However, what I did not expect is to be treated in a rude and conceding manner.

Event:
I approached Arnold's van to introduce myself as the property manager. The plumber (Arnold) was sitting his car with the engine on. I waved and he rolled down his window slightly... He stated the following ""I am on my lunch break"" and rolled his window back up. I stood there in disbelief. I asked him, ""when should we expect to have work completed in the unit?"" He rolled his window down to tell me again ""I am on my lunch break""

I was taken aback by his dismissive attitude.

Shortly afterwards my tenant had asked if she was going to have access to her shower that evening. I shared with my tenant that I would follow up with the plumber as I was not aware what would be completed by 4:00 pm.

I approached the plumber (Arnold) while he was working in one of the units. I had asked if the units would have working showers by end of the day?

He shared with me that he already talked to the tenant's husband.

I was a bit confused by his response. I said, ""I am asking you because I am the property manager and I oversee all work activities so that I could provide updates to tenants especially when water is temporarily turned off.

Arnold responded ""I don't need to talk to you. I already talked to the lady's husband and the property owner"" and he turned up his music and laughed out loud.

In all the years of working with contractors this interaction in my books would be rated zero. If Arroyo Plumbing and Drain company wants to provide excellent customer service, I would highly recommend not sending Arnold out to do contract work.

I was cut off by a male driver in the vehicle number 939350 on May 12, 2022 on 280 North around 10:55am. He then proceeded to follow me on the freeway and surface streets for ~6 miles. I have dash camera and rear camera footage of the man cutting lanes of traffic and going through barriers just to try and catch up to me.

This is inappropriate behavior and I will be contacting the police with this information. Me, being a young female, did not feel safe in the slightest and felt like a target of some sort of viol nice about to happen. I was on the phone with 911 while it was happening.

When my hot water heater broke I called a few plumbers to see who could come out most quickly. It was already after-hours when I left messages, but Matt at Arroyo called me back after dinner. Early the next morning he called to confirm a tech could arrive at 9:30am. The plumber sent to our house did a fine job, was courteous (and wore a mask for Covid the whole time), and left no mess behind. I thought the price for the work was at the high end of fair but, hey-- before the cheaper guys even called me back, Arroyo had the job complete.

Reviewing my Records for 2020, I came across two issues with this Company that should paint the picture:
1). I paid $155 to incorrectly replace the Valve and Flapper on a Toilet, a repair that was later re-done by another Vender for less than half the price.

2). On another repair, a $200 quote ended up being $650, as the price seemed to escalate until I objected (my brother was in a medical crisis at the moment of negotiation, so my priorities and attention was elsewhere).

These prices were negotiated by the ""Manager"" sent onsite to evaluate the work that needed to be done. In both cases, I overpaid significantly for the work that was performed, and in the first case, the work was substandard.

No need to complain to the Company- the Education I received to Vet venders before using them was worth the overpay.

It was our first week in a newly flipped house and after doing laundry our toilets suddenly wouldn't flush! I contacted Matt in a panic on a Friday evening and he listened, identified the likely problem and sent someone over right away. After the initial problem was resolved that night, Matt contacted me again the next weekday to come out and inspect further. The work needed on my end was minimal and he completed it sooner than expected. He also gave me great instructions for what needed to happen next with the city. He was such a great help - and he eased my panic! He was so proactive and responsive and he even text me pictures of the work that was done! Finding a great plumber is important - I highly recommend Arroyo plumbing!!

Arroyo was recommended to me by another plumber if you can believe it. Justin was the supervisor in charge of replacing my water main. I'll leave out all the details but basically he gave an estimate and stuck to it even though we had a few small changes. He didn't nickel and dime me like some others may have done. The job was done very well as far as I can tell.

Have used this company multiple times, when we have an emergency plumbing problem we can not resolve ourselves, and need someone ASAP. They are always accommodating and responsive to our last minute urgent requests, and do they do their best to get out to us the same day. Great company that is reliable with fair pricing.
