On the surface, they provide good customer service. I called at 8:00AM and had someone out that afternoon. However, for a simple clogged kitchen sink where they snaked it out they charged $371 for less than an hour's worth of work. To me, this is unacceptable. Of course, my wife was the one home instead of me, so she wrote them a check for it, but it's safe to say I will find another plumbing service in the future. I did call to inquire about what I felt was an excessive charge but never received the promised callback from the Service Manager. Other reviewers on other sites have also commented on what they believe to be exorbitant charges for reasonably simple tasks, so I know this situation is not unique to me.

Pretty incredible company from the first call to the repair. I had a major leak from an upstairs bathroom and they came out, diagnosed the problem and fixed it. The prices are fair and the customer service and crews are A++++. I can't say enough good things about their business model other than if I owned a business, I would hope to be this good!

Please, if you can't provide 24/7 service, don't advertise that way to give false hope. I called the answering service last night at 11:00 and it is 7:24, still nothing.

Horrible customer service! I called because the igniter on my water heater was broken. The pilot went out and I didn't want to attempt lighting it by hand. The technician was polite. But he told me they didn't have igniter parts. He said the water heater was shot and I needed to pay $1300 to replace it. When I asked if he could light it by hand he asked me if I had a long lighter. I did not. So I paid $89 for him to leave. I then called and spoke to a manager who got defensive with me before I even told her why I was calling. Horrible experience! They said that they would give me half of my fee back after arguing with me for 15 minutes. We'll see. Overall I would never use or recommend this company to anyone.

Very poor customer service!!! Called with a complaint about some of the work that was not completed and we were still charged for. Talked to a representative named Beth who was very unprofessional. Would never recommend them to anyone! Extremely disappointed with their service.

Called up at noon for an backing up home drain and had a technician there by 8am the next morning. I've had this happen once before and the amount of time & effort Arnold & Sons put in compared to the company was astonishing! Our plumber stayed over 2 hours working both on the drain and on the main pipe in the garage and went over long term solutions as well. Very knowledgeable and professional - I will not be using anyone else for plumbing issues after this stellar of service!

If their price wasn't 3x (or worse) the competition I would be capable of giving them a run of the mill rating. I tried to get pricing information out of them which they absolutely would not give without showing up for an estimate that cost a pretty penny. I then was so foolish as to think the sunk cost (credited toward service if you use them) must be larger than I could save elsewhere. After over $500 for two jobs that took a grand total of maybe an hour combined (almost no parts, that must have been at least 450 in labor, I even brought up supplying my own parts to which I was told it would be an insignificant cost difference) I felt pretty cheated. $280 of that was for clearing a kitchen sink pipe.

I figured if my problem didn't come back for 10 years it was $280 well spent. 11 months later same problem so I call them back up figuring they must show some consideration for the fact the problem reappeared so quickly. Nope, $280 to resnake, but the real recommendation was for $1200 worth of work for jetting the pipe (which getting that price took aggressive pushing even though their plumber had been here just 11 months ago). I'm pretty sure I could have replaced all the piping for far less since the problem is a visible PVC pipe. After calling around I got the same job that cost $280 11 months ago done for well under $100 with the pricing given as a per hour rate upfront without any 'estimate' being required. This time I timed the effort, 30 minutes for the drain including time for inspecting the problem and billing time and they did the exact same level of work on the same day I called them (something Arnold and Sons would have done I guess... though in practice the estimate step caused the process to drag out a few days). Initial results are the exact same as 11 months ago from Arnold and Sons other than this plumber left a shoe prints on the tile since they didn't wear booties.

Arnold & Sons is more technologically capable than most plumbers and they do a better job at not leaving a mess behind them than most plumbers, but I just can't understand how that justifies the premium nor the refusal to give any pricing guidance even when the job is clearly described (pipe size, length, nature of clog, access, etc.) Never again will I fall for their business tactics or inflated price. If cost is no object go ahead and use them as their notification system and effort to stay clean is well above the norm, but if you are at all sensitive about price (and we aren't talking 10 or 20 bucks here, hundreds on a simple job, I shudder at the thought of a complicated job) do not let them con you into an estimate fee without getting pricing guidelines from them first. I can't believe I was dumb enough to let them onto my property without at least knowing how they did their quotes (hourly labor rate, travel costs, etc.... all things everyone else I called had no problems giving me).

Let's face it, nobody likes to have to call a plumber. It is the housing need that is tantamount to having to go to the dentist. Your house is rebelling and you need someone to come and fix it fast. Unless it is a planned remodel, you are probably in panic mode when you pick up the phone. Your toilet is overflowing, your bathtub is leaking, the kitchen sink is flooding the entire room, your basement is underwater. Panic mode. The plumber who normally is the last person you want to see has suddenly become that crush you hope calls you back quickly. You wait and watch your phone, and then the call comes and all seems right with the world. Well, something like that. With Arnold and Son's emergency on call service, I was able to call them after hours when my kitchen was suddenly under water from under my sink. The lady on the phone was very sympathetic, and she said she would send out my call right away. I got a call back within the hour, and the plumber explained the upfront price- which I was thankful for. My funds are limited, and I appreciated knowing what I was getting in to. Is plumbing expensive, yes it is. So is the dental work, but unfortunately there are times when you need both. The plumber came out and he reassured me that it would not be a difficult fix. He got right to it, even charming my three little dogs, which I offered to put out, but he said it was fine to leave them. He simultaneously worked on my sink and charmed the puppies. Before I knew it the levy receded and the water stopped pouring out. I paid him and he was on his way. It was as easy as a plumbing leak could ever get. I have read reviews in which people complain about the prices, but for me to be able to have someone come right out, and to know what I was going to be charged for made all the difference in the world. If, God forbid, I found myself amidst the flood of leaking pipes again, I would not hesitate to call Arnold and Son's again.

I always trust Arnold and Sons with my plumbing issues. They are fair and reasonable. Joe is always nice, courteous, asks questions to make sure I understand, and is thorough. I also know I won't get charged for things I don't need.
