Arico Heating and Cooling
Company Overview
Within a week, my 20-year-old water heater started to drip. Moreover, the compressor of my 8-year-old air conditioning unit stopped working. I just settled into my home a bit over a year ago, looking forward to a dual cooling setup, but that dream never materialized. When we first entered the house, neither the AC nor the evaporative cooler needed to be on, and we only checked that they functioned. However, it turned out that even though the AC was operational, the vent meant to close at the evap connection somehow got stuck open. Consequently, the AC unit couldn’t cool three-quarters of my home. That first summer was rough, and the utility bill was staggering.
With over 22 years of experience, we have been dedicated to serving Southern Arizona. We specialize in replacing air conditioning systems and can service and repair most makes and models. We provide and install any air conditioning brand you prefer. If you call us early in the day, we can often address your plumbing issue the same day. Do not AriCo plumbing Inc. They give you a quote over the phone and then after they are done with the job they give you an invoice that's twice as much as much! I was quoted $400 to install a hot water heater. They said it would be $35 to take away the old hot water heater. That was fine. After completing the installation they gave me a bill for $800. I said I would not pay that. They called the office and then offered me $600 w/in 2 minutes for the job. When I walked into the house to get my credit card, I walked back out into the garage, and they said $400 was fine. Since then I've been getting invoices for $395. I've called three times. Steve, the Service Manager told me that I would receive them until 120 days was up. After that they would send it to collection. Then it would go to small claims. Which is fine because I'm not going to fall for the ""bait and switch""!
Buyer beware!!!
I have used this company for years, yet when we had a main water pipe go bad, they wanted $10,000 for a replacement that other plumber would do for $3500. They gave no details of what they would do, just a price. This is a ripoff and irreputable. I will not use them again.
Tucson J.I have had good service with Arico for the past 20 years. They have installed a water heater and a faucet; removed a calcium deposit from a line under my sink; installed a PRV at my main water line and did a repair to the pipe that goes to my shower head.
They have always showed up on time and charge a fair price.
May 28th I got into contact with someone who works for arico about looking at my a/c unit. he said it was old and needed to be replaced. he said he needed 500$ cash down and 6000$ made out to him to get the unit. he wrote me an invoice for all of it. after 3 weeks of constant reschedueling for an install I said im tried of waiting and want a refund. he said the refund would take 15-30 days. so 7 weeks later still didnt have my refund. was constantly getting the run around when my money was going to be ready for me. I made 4 different phone calls to the office no one cared or did anything. currently ive hired a lawyer and filed a lawsuit against the company and the installer for a refund. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY unless you want the same thing to happen to you.
Angel from Arico just did a great job repairing our water heater and was extremely pleasant to deal with.
I'd also like to note that we have used Arico for plumbing jobs in the past and have been pleased with their promptness, courtesy, and quality of work.
Lisa S.I am very dissatisfied at the moment. I spent over $500.00 5 days ago to have my plumbing snaked, a disposal replaced, and a new water pump in one of my toilets.
This evening as I was getting ready for bed, I heard my hall bathroom bubbling and then water running profusely. I went to see what it was and water was running into the hallway. Blackwater. A previous plumber had told me to uncap the cleanout trap to relieve pressure and when I did that all of the toilets and showers were relieved of the black water they were holding. This just tells me that the snake job did not unclog what it was supposed.
The plumber who came a few days before seemed to be in a hurry. In the past, plumbers ran water to see if everything was flowing.
I'm very upset and dissatisfied. I don't have more money to fork out for his errors, so am calling the company first thing in the am.
Steve C.I am so impressed with the service from this company!! I called many HVAC and plumbing companies in Tucson and these people really are the best, in my opinion. Steve, who is awesome, came out right away and gave me an estimate - which was great - and had the work done with no up charges after the estimate. He explained the process and kept me in the loop through the whole installation. Completely knowledgeable, he walked me through everything - never had such great customer service! A house I just bought had polybutyl piping that had to be replaced and the AC was trashed. Steve lined up the whole project and executed it on time and on budget! I can't say enough about Steve because he has integrity, knowledge and customer service that can't be beat. You don't see this kind of service so much anymore these days - no headaches, just the best service! I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend Arico Plumbing / HVAC and Steve!
Jane S.My only issue is Arico's policy of charging for the time required to fetch a part not in the truck.
Had used Airico several times over the years for plumbing problems and thought at that time they were pretty good. Used them to replace an air conditioner/furnace two years ago. On their recommendation, I had them install a York system. At first everything went fine, except that the blower motor on the fan was too small and they had to put in a larger one.
After a short time, the compressor started to sound more like an old swamp cooler. Called them out and they did a less than satisfactory job fixing it. I had to fix it myself by lining all edges of various parts with foam tape to cut down on the vibration noise. Then it stopped working altogether. Called them out and they said there was a leak in the system somewhere, but they couldn't figure out where. They then added a dye to the coolant so they could find the leak ""next time"". A couple of weeks later, it stopped working totally again, and when I called them, I was told they could not come out any time soon, but that I could call another repair service and it would still be taken care of under the ""10 year warranty"". Called another company and again, the coolant had leaked out. He was unable to find where (a lot of good the dye did) but he offered some sort of stop leak service that actually worked, for $250.00. While he was here though, he discovered that some sort of sensor (located in the furnace unit) was bad and needed to be replaced. The part was in the range of $100.00 but that there would be $450.00 that I would have to pay. The ""10 year warranty"" covers parts only, and not the labor. I paid the price, and they ordered the part and put it in.
At the two year mark, I had already paid about a thousand dollars to fix things that were covered by the warranty. Then on the hottest day of the year, that piece of garbage broke again. I again called the other company and this time the blower motor in the furnace unit was shot. I didn't even ask what it was going to cost me to replace the ""guaranteed"" part. I told them to take they York to the dump and bought a Trane system.
My house has the poly butylene plumbing, and I know I will need to replace it soon. My intentions were to have Airico do the work for me, but I think it will be a pretty cold day in Tucson before I ever let them back into my house again. I feel the unit they sold me was a piece of crap and after watching how the other company installed the Trane unit, I'm pretty well convinced that Airco doesn't have a clue when it come to installing air conditioners.
Robert M.Just hope they have the right parts on hand to repair a simple faucet leak, otherwise they will charge you an extra $160 just to drive around town for $79 in parts.
Completely misleading in their cost estimates. I complained to the office, but this billing is normal operating procedure.
