Buyer Beware. This company will overcharge you for a simple repair. We hired them to fix the water heater at my father's home. They charged him $875.00 for a simple repair that took around 2 hours. When the bill was questioned, they claimed it was an expensive part. We looked up the price of the part and it was only $69.00. This means they charged him over $400 per hour. A total rip-off. Shame on them for taking advantage of an elderly man.
They claim to have 24 hour emergency service for their clients. We had no heat in 20 degree weather. Called on Sat and was told they could not help then but would send a tech out between 10-12 on Sun. By 2pm Sun I was tired of waiting and called them. I was told by Chris that their tech called me 'several times' and because I did not pick up my phone they could not send anyone out. But here's the thing - there was not one call on my phone from them. It's hard to believe that with today's technology that this guy would outright lie about calling. Sent him a pic of my call log that showed zero calls from them, and he unapologetically said they could not help me. Someone from the 'regular hours' office called me Monday to set up an appointment and sent a tech to my house at 3pm who stayed for 10 mins, pressed a button, told me they got the heat running, and charged $188. Right after they left, the system stopped working again. I called and got the daytime office staff and was told the tech that was here would call right back. Tech did not call back and It got to be after 5, so when I called again guess who I got? After-Hours-Chris! Lucky me! This time he was classy enough to chew me out (it seems After-Hours-Chris does not like to be contacted after hours) after I asked to speak to the tech who was here because she had told me the opposite of what he was saying, and I wanted to understand what was happening for the teeny tiny issue THAT WE HAD NO HEAT AND THE TEMPS WERE PREDICTED TO DIP DOWN TO 10 DEGREES THAT NIGHT. After asking several times, After-Hours-Chris screamed at me that he'd have Montana call me, but it doesn't seem that After-Hours-Chris was telling me the truth again because I did not receive a call back from the tech - not then, not ever. Apparently Argent's 24 hour emergency service does not include evenings and weekends, and it also seems that they guarantee their work for as long as they are in your home, but as soon as they leave, you're on your own.
We chose to add a second a/c unit in our attic. The team (Brian, Gabe and Frank) came on time, were as quiet as could be, and worked long hours to finish in a timely fashion. They are very professional and well trained. Always an easy choice to use Argent Plumbing.
Extreme Excessive prices.. Find someone else...
I needed something simple to replace on my heating system and they charged me 20 times the cost of the part, plus a $300 emergency visit cost.. Over $900 for the visit to screw in a $40 part that took ten minutes to install. it's bad enough to charge for an expensive emergency visit, but to price gouge a $40 part to $600 is absolutely ridiculous.,,,
My mother in law had a backed up washing machine drain line and a slow draining kitchen sink and master shower. She called me and told me a plumbing company wanted $25.500 to repair it all. Having used Argent plumbing before to install a new water heater I wanted his opinion. After a through examination of the drains in question Shawn repaired it all for $450 now the drains all work great.....
Eva K.Argent plumbing recently came to our home for emergency service. Our furnace would not turn off and our old pipes were rotted and leaking. They clearly outlined several options at different price points so we could decide if we wanted to just replace the broken parts or the whole system. Given the age of the system we opted for full replacement. The team Argent sent Brian, Kurt and Dillon were hear for about 12 hours getting everything done. They were very respectful regarding Caronavirus concerns, wore masks and gloves, and stayed out of the main house as much as possible. There were a few minor follow ups that were handled very promptly as well.
Here's my advice - STAY AWAY from Argent. I called them for the 1st time (and now last) to repair 3 things. The 1st was to replace a washer in my bathroom sink. The guy said it was the stem, not a washer. He said my model didn't come with a washer. $145. I said OK. He took the stem out. A washer was attached. He said it couldn't be removed. He put in a new stem. It didn't fit. He then took the washer off the new stem, took the old washer off my old stem and put the washer from the new stem on the old stem. That fixed it. So, it really was a simple washer replacement which he claimed couldn't be done. He was either incompetent or trying to rip me off. He insisted on charging me $145. For a washer replacement?? I called his boss who took 2 days to return my call. He was rude from the start and offered to give me back $45. So, a $100 for a washer replacement?
These guys are a fortune, it's impossible to get an appointment and unless it's a really simple job you'll hear 5 different causes of the problem from 5 different people. Stay away.
Called to check a slow laundry drain and leaky laundry valve. Service guy very nice and prompt. He explained the slowness was due to the configuration of the pipes below the sink; when I told him his company installed it that way he dropped the conversation. He told me to change the valve would be $400, I thought that was really expensive since it has screws - for easy removal. After he left I was curious about this small valve and googled it. I was furious when I saw it was $59!!!!!!! I don't mind paying retail and for his labor, but this is so excessive when it only took 2 minutes. I even called other plumbers to make sure; they said it would be around $275, big difference! I will not be using Argent again! If you do use them, google the part first and get other estimates.
I called 3 plumbers when my external pipes froze earlier this week. We had no water in my house and the heat was dropping rapidly during sub-zero temperatures. I called emergency plumbing services on a Sunday, and Fred from Argent was the first to call back, and although he was already on a job at a home suffering from burst pipes!!! and couldn't get to me right away, he talked me me through the process of rigging a homemade system to fill water into my boiler enough to keep the furnace going so that my home and internal pipes wouldn't freeze. I can't THANK ARGENT and FRED enough!!!
