Established in the year 2000, Arctic Sun Heating and Air Conditioning was created with limited funds and a single van. The current owner, Bill Ruggles envisioned becoming his own boss.
After 20 years, we remain in operation, and our support staff continue to change and improve. At Arctic Sun, our goal is provide trustworthy service and clear pricing before we commence any work for our clients.
William Ruggles launched Arctic Sun in April of 2000, motivated by the need to stay close to his family. His goal was to build a business that allowed him to support his family. He emphasizes integrity, diligence, and honesty at Arctic Sun, encouraging his employees on a regular basis.

Mike and Billy installed a new hot water tank. They took great care removing the old and bringing in the new. Mike took exceptional care to see that there were no water leaks and that the new unit was working properly. The job took longer than they expected but they were very professional. Highly recommended.

Everything is about how much you can be gouged for and make as much money as possible.
I was convinced to purchase two systems 2 1/2 years ago when my home was 14 years old. New system installed and upper unit is a constant problem. Last visit early January was over $350 and system went out again mid January and always seems to be out of warranty so had to pay another bill close to $400 2 weeks later. System is not good and upstairs is freezing in the winter and hot in the summer. Was not worth the $15k I'm still paying on. People are nice and they arrive on time but definitely not happy with the system sold and all the extra $750 this month on top of the current monthly payment. All this money and system still does not cut on. Issues resolved 10 days later after complaining.
Surprised to see the negative reviews here. They have been efficient, timely, polite, clean and have been better about scheduling our maintenance than we have. The technicians they send out to the Vienna area have been superlative. I also especially appreciate Wanda and Christine in the office, who are diligent about scheduling times that work for us and seem to always send a smile through the phone when we call.
I got rid of arctic sun Manassas. Beware of them. They were always looking for something to ""fix."" When something broke that was under warranty they charged extra for ""filling out the paperwork."" The company I use now comes twice a year and has found nothing wrong for a few years. When I brought concerns to the general manager she was less than helpful and most unfriendly.
Used to be a customer of All County which was apparently bought by Arctic Sun. My heating unit was having trouble starting. They way over-charged me for replacing a pressure switch (over $350) that really did not need to be replaced.
Never going back to them. You be forewarned too.
My A/C went out on a Thursday morning, I called Arctic Sun and by that afternoon they had the world's nicest, happiest tech - Damon at my house preparing an estimate. I knew that my system needed to be replaced. We went over the costs and financing options. There was absolutely no pressure but I knew I wanted it done ASAP. He promised that the work could be completed by mid-week.
To my complete surprise, I received a message the next morning that if I could be available they would install it that day. By the end of the day Friday the whole system had been replaced, everything cleaned up and the house was cooling off. I cannot say enough what a great experience this was for us. I would highly recommend this business to anyone!
Jason H.I'm updating my review and thus splitting the difference at a 3 star. After all of our issues, we got a call from Bill the owner. With a very very short period of time all of our issues were resolved and we had what we needed. Bill lived up to his promises, was a man of his word, was humble, respectful, showed humility and overall was a good man. For lack of a better term, he was ""old school"" and seemed to be a gentlemen you could make a keep a deal with simply through a handshake.
All of our previous experience were very good with this company and because Bill stepped in we will keep Arctic Sun as our go to for our heating and cooling needs.
C G.Call them out to diagnose our A/C, no issues found by Sam; called Arctic Sun back again less than 15 days later A/C required Freon at $250 per pound $$$$$$$$$ house still hot. Called United Air Temp and now I'm freezing
Leigh-Anne S.I am amending my previous review based on a hope that Arctic Sun will truly evolve and become more like All County, the company they bought. This is based on a call I received the day after I wrote my original review. Wanda, one of the employees from All County who has always been amazingly helpful, called out of concern when she saw my review. She immediately let me know that the charges for the repairs were in error, and arranged to get me a refund. And, she assured me that the new owner was invested in continuing the great service that All County was known for.
If I could give five stars to Wanda, I would. Her customer service is unparalleled. I am giving three stars to Arctic Sun for now. Even though my situation has been resolved to my satisfaction, I do not like the tiered billing system they use. I will have to wait and see how future issues are handled, and hopefully my confidence will be fully restored.
