Recommended Customer Reviews
The dispatch and technician were good/polite. That's the one star. They provided the most outrageous quote. I wanted 2 wide set faucets installed in my bathroom. They quoted $2804 if they supply faucets! $2572 if they use my faucets and their supplied traps. If they use all my material $1416...and oh yeah no guarantee. They had a second scale of pricing (15% discount)if I signed up $6.95 a month for some bogus front of the line/emergency membership. They will basically come out any hour no questions...but at that rate who wouldn't. I believe the technician moonlighted as neurosurgeon for said rates and they would have offered free lobotomy to console the pricing.....wtf!! Btw I had the work done by a licensed plumber (friend of a friend) for $210. This business practice is fine (capitalism's finest) but I only wished they all talked like pirates to at least give you a heads up. Oh yeah cost me $79 dollars for the quote....no lube
Jason T.Excellent service, excellent planning, products are working properly.
One week since install of brand new Lennox products.
Lennox Signature SLP98 98% AFUE Variable Speed Modulating 70,000 Btuh Natural Gas Furnace With/ Lennox XC21 18
SEER Two Stage Air Conditioner
Derek came out to our home and diagnosed issues with our Furnace and AC units. We knew we had to replace them and he worked with us to find the right products. Furnace was from 1986!
Natalie helped us with proper permits and scheduling, super fast service too! Obviously with the weather getting colder we really wanted to get the project completed.
Bayron and Declan were our install team. They spent 3 days at our home and worked steadily but quietly. The work was excellent and within the expected timeline we had a working Furnace and AC. They explained what work had to be done and any slight adjustments to the plan. They also explained how everything worked and what kinds of maintenance would be required.
Will definitely call again for service and any other plumbing/HVAC needs.
We used this company before to fix a leaky pipe under our kitchen sink. After they charged us hundreds of dollars to repair not just the pipe but to replace the faucet installation (which we were assured was necessary), I was a bit leery of them. But they were polite, neat and clearly competent so we called them again when the lip on our toilet had deteriorated and we could not flush it, and a faucet handle was stuck. They charged us $89 for a service call and quoted us $1399 (including the service call) which they said represented a $227.85 discount from the standard price. I thought the price was so high in relation to the work that I started calling around to other plumbers, two of who respectively said the price was ""insane"" and ""sounded out line."" Eventually, we got both jobs done for a total of $400--a quarter of the job that Aqueduct quoted.
In looking at Aqueduct's reviews, I have seen a number of complaints about their pricing. Along with my experience, there looks to be here a troubling pattern of potential price gouging. I would think twice about accepting this company's price quotes without getting other opinions. You might very well end up saving a great deal of money.
For the most part, Aqueduct gets good reviews on line, but the customers do not appear to been price sensitive and looked for other quotes to measure the reasonableness of the company's pricing. I simply repeat the troubling reviews without vouching for their truth or falsity but I do think that it is important for anyone using their services to realize that my review is not unique but mirrors others that can be found on line:
(1) On 10/15/18, Jeffrey K. complained on Yelp of ""outrageously high prices"" for a boiler price: $311 to replace a thermocouple, $363 to replace an expansion tank, $299 to vacuum out a gas boiler, $263 to install a wet switch, $1098 to replace a manual pilot light;
(2) On 9/21/18, Maurice L. complained on Yelp of $240 quote snake a drain and complained of ""highway robbery"";
(3) On 5/31/18, Bpa77 A. complained on Yelp that Aqueduct indicated that there were leaks in the air conditioning condenser and air handler coil and that a repair would probably cost $6000. Two other companies come out to look at the issue and find no leaks anywhere. Both companies say the company is ""either incompetent or trying to scam you.""
(4) On 5/30/18, Stanley W. complained on Yelp that the business ""was definitely a rip off.""
(5) On 10/10/21, Bill E. complained on Yelp that Aqueduct tried to tell him that he needed ""an entire new system for $8000"" and that when he pushed back he was told could probably get away with $4000 repairs. He called another company and the problem was fixed in five minutes with no new parts;
(6) On 3/20/17, a reviewer on Angies list said, Aqueduct was ""Extremely expensive, that's all."" They fixed a leaky faucet in the shower and one in the bathtub for $800;
(7) On 1/3/17, a reviewer on Angies list said that Aqueduct wanted to charge $400-$500 to replace a washing machine valve that costs $55 at a plumbing supply store;
(8) On 3/29/16, a reviewer on Angies list said the service was ""great"" and ""My problem was sticker shock;""
(9) On 1/12/16, a reviewer on Angies list said the company replaced a defective part without warranty, but had suggested replacing the whole faucet assembly with a new unit a very high prices up to $800;
(10) On 1/4/16, a reviewer on Angies list said the company's estimate to do the job was five times higher than the company that was ultimately chosen;
(11) On 3/26/16, a review on Angies list said the company's pricing was ""quite high"" and charged $560 to replace a kitchen sink faucet;
(12) On 3/23/16, a reviewer on Angies list complained that the company quoted the replacement of a faucet and drain at more than $2000 and that the customer was able to find the same faucet for half the price quoted on line; and
(13) 1/15/13, a reviewer on Angies list complained that the cost of fixing a toiler and a humidifier was ""way too much.""
Outrageously high prices. Service plan is a sales pitch you pay for.
I had a water heater and heat exchanger pipe replaced several months ago. Probably overpaid by several hundred dollars on each. I should have shopped around, and that was my mistake. Won't happen again.
I signed up for their service plan because the 10% off the previously mentioned service made it a no-brainer, and the boiler checkout seemed worthwhile for at least the first winter in a new home.
While scheduling the boiler checkup, I also mentioned wanting some estimates for plumbing work. Had to ask at least three times, and then I got tired of the phone tag.
The boiler checkup was almost entirely a sales pitch. If I blindly took their advice, I'd quickly be out one or two thousand dollars for trivial or unnecessary things.
$311 to replace a thermocouple? And a recommendation to change it every year? Crazy. It's a $30 part and you can replace it in 10 minutes if you've done it before.
$363 to replace the expansion tank? Another recommendation to change it yearly, which is especially crazy since they last at least five years. The part is $50 and simply screws in.
$299 to vacuum out the gas boiler and heat exchanger? If that takes longer than 20 minutes, what are you using? A toothbrush?
$263 to install a wet switch? That's a 40 dollar part and trivial install.
$1098 to replace a perfectly functional manual pilot light with electronic spark ignition? Why? These systems are so simple, nothing takes a long time to replace, especially if you don't need to drain any fluids.
All their employees are incredibly neat and friendly, but the prices are a total scam. When I called to cancel my service plan there wasn't even a question as to why. I guess they know.
$240 to snake a sink drain? That was the quote Aqueduct gave me when they arrived. I offered $150. The worker had to call the boss because he couldn't approve it. Dan, the boss, called me. I said I would pay $150 to snake the drain and if it didn't work we'd figure out something from there. He said he couldn't take $100 off the quote. I paid the visit charge of $80 for no work. If you think $240 is the right price to snake a drain then these are the guys for you. I believe it's highway robbery inflicted on people that don't know better. Find another plumber.
Our A/C died on one of the hottest days in August. Called two service companies, neither which I had used before. The first one I called never called back. So glad I called Aqueduct because they answered the phone and told me they were booked for the day but could come the following afternoon. Actually came mid-morning. Figured out the problem and fixed it, first explaining to us what caused the problem then what they'd do to fix it. Very professional and respectful, cleaning up when they finished. Icing on the cake was they were swwet to our dog.
This review would be zero start if possible. Let's start that I called on Friday May 4. No tech could come until Tuesday 5/8. Tech diagnoses that condenser outside is shot and a new one is needed. Couldn't give me an estimate and owner needed to come. He came on Fri 5/11. Looked it over with original tech and said he would get me an estimate first thing Monday morning. No call all Monday. I call on Tuesday 5/15 and still not done. Finally sends me estimate on 5/17. I approve same day. Can't get someone out to do the replacement work until Thurs 5/24. Tech comes to replace the condenser and says ""you have bigger issues"" Leaks in the line set and the air handler coil and that owner needs to come back out and go over options with you. Says I need to run new lines and replace air handler. Owner comes back out next day. Doesn't have much to say or suggest and says again, I'll get you an estimate on replacing the line set and air handler but will probably be about $6,000. Tuesday and Wednesday go by and no follow up by them. We're now close to a month with no AC and they couldn't care less. I call 2 other companies in the meantime to come out and look at the issue and give me their opinion. Turns out, there is NO LEAK ANYWHERE in the system and both companies said whoever is telling you there is, is either incompetent or trying to scam you. Also their tech tested the lines with almost double the pressure as the unit stated should be used and could've damaged the whole system with what he did. I called this morning to tell them I wasn't paying another dime to them and that the entire ordeal from start to finish was probably the worst experience I've ever had with a Home Services Company. Owner was apologetic but ""assured"" me that they don't scam people. I said well the proof is in the work done and how I was handled. Thank god I thought to get a 2nd a 3rd opinion and these other companies saved me $6,000.
Been looking for a reliable plumbing service for some time now. Getting an appointment for the following day even though it wasn't an emergency was awesome. Bobby took his time to figure out what the problem was and didn't leave until he was sure everything was working properly.
Tim A.Following the Nor'easter lots of people had trouble with frozen pipes/malfunctioning heat systems etc. Despite a full schedule Aqueduct got as an appointment in a short amount of time. The tech, Wilbert was very straightforward, explained what he was doing and why, tried to minimize damage to my walls and ceilings, fixed the issue and answered all my questions along the way. I understand my heating system now and will avoid a lot of trouble in the future.
I was presented with options to choose from for the repair. Pricing was straightforward and reasonable and Wilbert informed me about pros and cons without trying to push for more work or expensive options. I will use this company in the future again.
They charged me $350 and were here for 2 hours to drain my overflowing boiler , what i take care of in less than 5 minutes on my own. to solve the problem they wanted $1200 to do work that would not have fixed the problem. Although they would have given me a $350 credit back. unethical or just wrong i would have paid for their stupidity
