Applewood came out today to service my boiler and inspect an air handler. Specifically, Alex Smith, came out. Alex has been to my house twice now for service and repairs. I have yet to experience another technician, from any company, who is more knowledgeable, more thorough and more willing to explain issues and solutions for my home. He arrived on time today, immediately put on protective booties and then listened to my analysis of what was happening with my system. Without hesitation he went into the crawl space, it is cold and not extremely easy to access. He found the issue. Repaired it and then did more of an inspection of the system. He found a potential issue that he said didn't require immediate attention but at some point would need repair. He replaced the part in 20 minutes. I couldn't recommend Alex or Applewood more highly.

Furnace died yesterday on the coldest day of the year so far. Called Applewood and unfortunately, they didn't have anyone available until this afternoon at 3:00. Made the appointment and didn't bother shopping around any further. Now they call me at 2:45 (15 minutes before my scheduled appointment) to say that the technician won't be able to make it and we would need to reschedule. I've now wasted 24 hours without heat and it's a Sunday afternoon. If you are in a bind and have an emergency, Applewood is not a reliable option.

Do not try to schedule with this company. I scheduled several times for the next day and they cancelled each time.

I used Applewood several times many years ago. I just moved back into the area and need to get my furnace serviced so I looked them up. Their website offered live chat so I asked if they service furnaces and the cost. The rep keep saying he would have ""his team reach out"" to me with a price. I asked if he didn' t have a basic price sheet for service costs and he kept asking for my address and I kept asking for a price. I asked if he wouldn't rather have my phone number and he hung up on me. Service like this is unacceptable. If their customer service folks don't care about customers how bad could their service be?

Applewood is the most professionally competent people I've ever used.....had a Bosch tankless water heater go out......I called....they came out within 24hrs for a measly $29 fee to see give me the whole story on this.....the appointment was between 1-3.....he was here at one.....by 3 oclock the unit was repaired and cost $300 and this was after the actual homeowner had another guy out that spent 2hrs, charged him $200 just to tell him it had to be replaced and that would cost $4200......It doesn't get any better than Applewood . OH....of course, they took all COVID safety measures.

We were warned by neighbors that Applewood was pricy and to go with someone else and I hadn't seen the bad reviews online yet.... the plumber showed up and he was super friendly, on time, wearing a mask and following all COVID precautions. So no complaints there. However, he was going to charge us $400+ to fix a drip in our kitchen faucet (which stopped after he left because he messed with it for about 5 minutes...) and quoted us $1200+ to fix a valve on our shower to increase the amount of cold water that comes through. Needless to say.... we're getting second opinions and are more than likely going with someone else.

First, Applewood is taking precautions for Covid seriously and protecting their customers and staff is a top priority. As an at-risk person, I appreciated this greatly. My boiler quit right after the temps dropped precipitously and it was difficult to get an appointment, but Applewood was able to give me an appointment 24 hours sooner than another large plumber in the area.
Meanwhile, I had to call Excel to ensure there was no gas leak and the awesome guy who came reset my boiler for me. I kept my appt with Applewood to re-check the boiler and ensure all is OK. Colton came and checked out the system and answered my endless questions about the possible causes of the boiler shutting down etc. I felt like I got a mini plumbing 101 lesson which was interesting and I sensed he enjoyed educating me--it was refreshing, especially given how much in demand these plumbers are as winter approaches. I highly recommend Colton and Applewood. As a final note...as I waited on the phone for someone to take my call, a recording came on to apologize for my wait and that it was too long and to tell the person who answered I was due a $20 credit for my service--a pleasant surprise! Colton took that $20 off my bill, no questions asked:)

RIP OFF - SO EXPENSIVE COMPARED TO OTHER QUOTES!!! I don't get how this company remains in business other than by paying top dollar for ads with money they overcharge customers. Their prices should be illegal they're so freakin' expensive at 2-3x more compared to several other plumbing companies we contacted for estimates (both large and small).

For example:
- $450 to briefly remove and install a new wax seal (approx $5) under toilet vs. $150 average price (approx 30 - 45 min time)
- $250 to replace an older toilet shutoff valve (approx $7.50) in the process of replacing the wax seal and removing the toilet vs. No Additional Charge (approx 15 min time)
- Minimum of $1500 to cut into drywall to access/repair leaky joint in wall behind toilet vs. $500-$650 (approx 1-1.5 hr and $5 part)
- $1200 to install a mainline water pressure regulator vs. $400 - $600. (approx 1.5 hour + less than $100 part).
- $12,000 to add an air conditioner compressor to a compatible furnance/central ducts vs. $5000 - $7000

Other plumbers shook their head in disgust when hearing what we were quoted since they feel Applewood gives them all a bad name. And before we could even mention their name when saying how much more the other company was... they all guessed correctly it was Applewood w/o our mention.

On a positive note: the booking and communication process was very good; the plumbers were clean, friendly, highly knowledgeable and did good work; and they had good availability (including after business hours). However, the plumbers have no say in what to charge and defer to a HUGE bible of an Applewood book that has a flat rate for every single repair under the sun, including situations where both repairs are part of the same project and only add a few minutes extra time. I actually felt bad for them having to give me the flat-rate quotes as they seemed a bit uncomfortable doing so, and again, props to the quality of work but it was no different than the other plumbers we used at a fraction of costs.

If hosting a big Xmas dinner and suddenly the sh*tters full w/no other plumbers available in a pinch you'll be excused for calling Applewood. But you have zero excuse for calling them otherwise unless perhaps you're a masochistic. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED... BEWARE!!!

I had a service call set for my furnace yesterday between 2-4. I received a call at 3:30 that the technician was still working on another repair job and asked if I'd like to move the window to 5-7 yesterday, which I accepted. I was told I'd receive a call when the tech was on his way. I never received a call and the tech never showed.

Bad customer service, especially for a furnace call on a below-freezing night.

I called to get my furnace serviced because it was not working. I chose applewood because they could get a tech out the quickest. Tech came out diagnosed the problem and discovered that the part needed to ordered. Fine. He said he'd call back within two days to reschedule.
Two days come and go and no call back. I finally call to see what's going on and was told the tech would call back within 24hrs. 24hrs go by and nothing....
I finally call and see what's going on and they say the tech didn't call because he doesn't work on the weekend and that the needed part might or not be in by tomorrow....
Really?
A little bit of communication goes a long way. NO COMMUNICATION is a show stopper.
Will NEVER call this company again. Even if they hade a ""good"" reputation.
