We've used Applewood for years to service our swamp cooler annually and for a few other household projects. We have a very high steep roof and have been refused service by other companies, but Applewood always comes through. All the technicians we've dealt with have been professional and courteous. Our most recent experience with Samuel was stellar.

Just got online and not surprised to see the same feedback from everyone. Their prices are insane. Find another plumber, like i will. They charged me $400 to install a kitchen faucet my wife had already purchased. Had i known the price i would have refused. I had them quote some shower valve replacement work and it was $2800 without any tile work. Parts couldn't cost $20 for that job. Then i just had them quote some electrical work to see if any different. Wanted them to install 8 smoke detectors. ""Standard"" price quote $1800!!! Gold membership $800!! Smoke detectors. Feel free to use them but you are throwing money away.

Good service and experience but would not recommend due to extremely high cost. Had them replace an aging water heater (tank). Total was about $2,600 for something that most companies charge $1200-1500. They did use quality parts, were fast, clean and overall did a good job. There is certainly value in that and they can charge a premium, but 2x is excessive.

Shame on me for not doing better research and getting played, but I will not be using Applewood again unless their prices go down to industry norm range.

We had two great experiences with Applewood recently. The first was a plumbing emergency. Kent B. arrived soon after our late-afternoon call. He was able to pinpoint the source of the problem (a leaking copper pipe inside a kitchen wall) and repair it, while mimizing the damage to the wall. Kent was friendly and answered all of our questions. About five weeks later, we had an issue with our air conditioning system not coming on, so we called Applewood again. Samuel J. responded quickly. He was very knowledgeable, professional and personable. Samuel diagnosed and fixed the problem, all within 10 minutes. Both times, from start to finish, we were impressed with the high-quality service we received from this company!

Yesterday, I stopped by my widowed 84-year old mother's house. There was an Applewood van parked in front. I asked her why they were there. She told me she had called them because of a leaky toilet and that the plumber was waiting to hear about getting a ""genuine"" Kohler part delivered. I told her to let me know before she had them do the work. When the plumber came back in the house I asked him what he had quoted her for the repair. He said $620 but he explained that included a service contract for other toilets in the house. I told him we would fix it ourselves.

Had I not chanced by my mother would have paid $620 to replace a flapper on her toilet. The fill valve and flapper in the toilet were already replacement parts that had worked for 10 years (Korky Universal Repair Kit). That kit is available on Amazon for $23.77.

It gets worse, after the plumber left, she handed me a quote the plumber had given her for $1,925 to replace the entire toilet, which was in perfect condition except for the worn-out flapper.

My mother would have been financially better off had Applewood come to the door with a gun and robbed her than to have done business with them. They clearly prey on elderly people.

If you want to be ripped off by an articulate, drug-free serviceperson in a clean, well-maintained van, you should hire them.

$1200 to replace a shower faucet at my parents house, I even supplied the faucet. The best part is they never got the OK on the estimate, they just did it.

I was also quoted $5500 for a water heater installation, while it was the higher-end water heater I was still able to get it installed for $900 through someone else. At least they asked before doing it.

Total garbage. They did not come within the window of time or call, and I can now not reach them on any of their multiple phone numbers. Creepy. Garbage.

They were prompt and courteous. Yet, they're way over priced. They lack to inform me there was mold behind my water heater. I had to put more money into fixing the mold. I would never recommend them again.

Technician was at the house 1 hr. Replaced about $30.00 worth of parts and charged $807.25 with a senior discount of $40.36 for a total of 766.89 which was paid in cash. After complaining, they rebated $200.00. Is this the way you treat your senior citizens. Prices are way out of line.
