Lyndsay L.Our Furnace stopped working recently, so we called Appletree to come and fix it. We knew that it was the ignitor as my husband is a handy kind of guy, but he didn't feel confident in fixing it himself. They told us they would charge $45 to come to the house and look at it, which seemed reasonable. They came out the very next day which also was nice.
The only thing wrong with the furnace was that it needed a new ignitor. It took less than 20 minutes to repair. However, they ended up charging us $333! This was a ""discounted price"" they gave us after we questioned why the cost was so high. They quoted $480 as the ""standard rate"" on the invoice.
The repairman couldn't tell us how much the actual ignitor cost. He told me that other repairmen would have suggested we replace the entire furnace, or could have charged us over $700 for the ignitor repair. (We have a new, very nice furnace by the way).
I called yesterday to talk to the owner. A woman took my name and number and said he would call me back. I haven't heard anything back.
Our furnace is working again, that is the up side here. However I have done some research and at most I have found ignitors to cost $50. I have been told by another repairman that switching out an ignitor is as easy as changing a light bulb. Maybe the owner will call me back and convince me otherwise. But for now, we are very disappointed.
THE WORST-showed up and used MY GARDEN HOSE to ""service"" my AC then charged me $90!!! OH and it still doesnt work, what a JOKE!! NO COIL CLEAN was used, 10mins with my hose and he was gone. Never received a Quote for additional repairs infact I called only to get their answering machine. AWFULL
Don't use this company. I had them do a bunch of work for me including a new sewer line. I was in a big hurry and spent 50% more than I should have. They promised to leave my landscaping the way it was before but left a big sink-hole they didn't fix. They also go by Time Plumbing & Heating. They likely advertise under that name because they were sued as Apple Tree and are trying to change their image. I've dealt with Brad Apple and thinks he's pond scum.
Apple Tree Plumbing was the plumbing company I used for my backed up drain. I would recommend Apple Tree Plumbing. They were polite on the phone and when the plumber came to my house he explained very clearly what was wrong and what he could do about it. The price was exactly what they quoted me on the phone. My experience was a good one. I wish more companies were as service oriented as Apple Tree.
I recently called TIME for a plumbing problem I was having. They were very helpful over the phone and got a technician to my house quickly. The technician identified himself, was very courteous and began work quickly. Within a few minutes, Dave, the technician, was back to me with the exact problem and flat rate pricing. I was nervous having someone come out and give a quote, but Dave eased my mind and my pocket book. I will DEFINATELY call TIME PLUMBING IN THE FUTURE.......
I called. They came. Quoted $ first. I accepted. Its fixed. Thats how it works Ladies and Gentlemen. I have been a licensed electrical service contractor for 26 years. I'm always amazed at how we will gladly pay a Dr. for each and every office visit, going back every 2 days, each a $25 co-pay until we're well but crucify the plumber for his fee. How much do you think that 200 lb drain machine costs? Ever price out commercial service truck insurance? Did you know that every municipality, township, city, & county charges a license fee to the service contractor? Maybe there really is a plumbing faery who will come out, diagnose, and then GIVE YOU $25 but I haven't found him yet. I'm happy to see that Mr. Do-It-Ur-Self fixed his outside spigot for $10. I'm sure he got a real quality part for that kind of money. Did you know that a Home Depot warranty is 30 days? Read that receipt closely. What if you damage it? Most contractors are 1 year and use high grade materials. 95% of Home Owner insurance policies will not cover damage claims by UNLICENSED home plumbing repairs. Might wanna read that policy before lighting that torch Mr. Fix-It. There are 721 outside faucets on the internet. Which one do you really want, the cheapest or the best? Now ask that about your refrigerator, your cell phone, your car, your pacemaker, your hip replacement, your daughter's chemo therapy?? You get what you pay for. There are cheaper services out there but do you really want them?
Called Appletree to replace a leaky hose bib at my parents house. I had this same work done at my house two times (separate bibs). When they came, the rep was very friendly but the quote was 'OUTRAGEOUS' &495 less $100 for senior discount. This is still $200 more (at Senior rates) than I spent previously for the same job. Needles to say, we did not have them complete the work and I am out $39 bucks for an appearance fee.
I believe they make their money on visitation fees since they have no skilled labor on staff and well know that no one will pay their astronomical fees.
Stay away from these guys!!!
PS: Their 6"" price book does look impressive as do their Sintas garbs. But I would rather have a 'real' plumber in dirty clothes with no book give me a quote than an office jockey.
Steve W.This company is run by a bunch of swindlers! I had a leak in the compression fitting of the yoke to the water meter in my basement. I just didn't want to mess with it, so I called them. They told me the entire yoke had to be rebuilt and it was a custom job. He started measuring everything and said he had to go back ""to the shop"" to weld it up. I was quoted $850-$950. I couldn't believe it, so I had him call the owner to confirm the quote. Yep, that was the quote... I said, let me think about it overnight. In the morning, I drove to a plumbing shop on Broadway and they said those are standard yokes made in mass production for each water company (mine is Willows Water). I went downtown and found they actually cost $60 not $950!!!! Plus, the company said there was no need to replace it if my leak was at the fitting. They gave me a 20 cent rubber gasket and it fixed the problem fine!!!! I called AppleTree Plumbing back and asked them how they SLEEP AT NIGHT!?!?! Don't use this company! Crooks!!!
Appletree gave us an estimate of $392 for a repair which was estimated to take one hour and the part was verified to cost about $10. We found this outrageous. We had to pay a $35 customer service call (they did waive the$8.00 fuel service fee). This company is NOT recommended.
Muriel P.Same here. we had a leak in a valve to the garden hose. The estimate was 450. Off we go to home depot, and my husband bought all necessary material (we had nothing and had to buy everything). 100 usd later and a few bad words, valve changed and everything in order. Will never call them again (oh and did i say we had to pay 110 for them to come over and check a gaz leak)
